Abstract

The device serves for the continuous making of packages of groups of biscuits standing on end which are wrapped by means of a tube with a lengthwise thin weld and two transverse fins. The foremost and rearmost biscuits of the individual groups (3, 3') are, during a first transportation, retained by rotating fingers (11, 12') until the supporting is taken over by the tube as the second transporting means. Tube folding means (4) are provided on one side of the conveying plane. In the end region of the first transporting means (1, 6), but on the other side of the conveying plane, there is a suction chamber (5) which is connected to a suction device (15, 16) in order to generate a subatmospheric pressure in the interior of the tube and thus press the tubular film (20) against the edges of the biscuits. …<IMAGE>…

Description

5.The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the continuous production of packs according to the preamble of patent claims 1 and 5, respectively.

In the continuous packaging of biscuits, so-called product safeguards such as bands, chains with brackets, i.e. with fingers, chains with pressing pieces and the like, are often applied to the biscuit groups or in the interstices between a hose folding device and a transverse heater, these product safeguards, the can touch the hose hard or soft, for example over foam rubber or leaf springs, to which product dimensions and tolerances are designed. A suitable safety device must be available for each new product dimension, which can be replaced with the old one.

This causes great expenses; In particular, there are difficulties and a reduction in operational safety in the case of large product tolerances that would be desirable per se.

Such packaging machines sometimes also have suction devices which, after the tube feed means, are viewed in the conveying direction and / or are arranged in the region of the transverse heaters, in order to avoid bloating of the packs or to enable better transverse sealing and thus more beautiful gusset folds. However, this does not solve the disadvantages shown.

Such disadvantages are solved according to the invention by a method with the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. The device for performing this method is specified in claim 5 and other advantageous embodiments of the invention in further dependent claims.

The device according to FIG. 1 has a transport chain 1 on which two stacks 2, 3 of biscuits standing upright are transported, the stack 3 being located partly in a hose folding means or folding box 4. After the folding box 4 and below the conveyor level there is a suction chamber 5 in which a deflection wheel 6 for the transport chain 1 is accommodated as the first means of transport. After the suction chamber 5 in the conveying direction, there are a take-off roller 7, two optionally electrically heated sealing rollers 8 and 9 and a transverse sealing roller 10, which cooperate in the second transport. On the conveyor chain 1 drivers 11, 11 ', 11˝, .... and retaining fingers 12, 12', ... are arranged at equal intervals. The conveyor chain 1 resting on the upper guide 13 enters the suction chamber 5 at the top and emerges from the bottom at a lower guide 14. The interior of the suction chamber 5 is connected via a suction duct 15 to a fan 16, which form a suction device. The opening of the suction channel 15 can be gradually closed with a displaceable throttle plate 17. The suction chamber 5 has one with the Opening communicating atmosphere, which can be closed via a likewise displaceable closure plate 18. The device according to FIG. 1 also has a film roll 19, from which a film 20 is drawn to produce the packs.

In Fig. 2 the folding box 4, the suction chamber 5 with the suction channel 15 and two rollers 7 ', 7˝ of the take-off roller 7 (Fig. 1) are shown schematically.

In FIG. 3 the transport chain 1, a retaining finger 51, a driver 52, the upper guide 13 and the lower guide 14 can also be seen. In particular, attention should be drawn to the openings 53 and 54 through which the conveyor chain 1 enters and exits the suction chamber 5.

Die erfindungsgemässe Vorrichtung funktioniert folgendermassen:The device according to the invention functions as follows:

The biscuits stacked upright on the conveyor level between the carriers 11 and the retaining fingers 12 are transported in groups through the transport chain 1 to the folding box 4. In the folding box 4, the packaging material 20 is tubular in a manner known per se packing biscuits or other objects placed, on the lower side a protruding longitudinal seam 21 is formed, which is detected by the driven rollers 7, 8, 9, which may each include a pair of rollers (7 ', 7˝ in Fig. 2) to advance the hose. At the same time, the longitudinal seam 21 is welded by the sealing rollers 8 and 9. The tube 20 with the enclosed objects then passes into the transverse sealing roller 10 for producing the transverse welding point in order to weld one end of the packaging in each case. The objects are thus transported through the conveyor chain 1 only up to the level of the suction chamber 5, where the drivers 11 'and retaining fingers 12' tip over in the manner shown in FIGS. 4 to 6 sequentially. The action of the fan 16 creates a negative pressure in the suction chamber 5, which can propagate through the entire interior of the hose. This pressure is subjected to jerky fluctuations which occur when the retaining fingers 12 or the drivers 11 pass through the openings 53 and 54, because the effective opening area of these openings is then smaller. The fan 16 must therefore be strong enough to suck up the air that flows in larger or smaller quantities through these openings. An oversized fan 16 can expediently be provided, the vacuum effect of which is reduced by the plates 17 and 18. The jerky negative pressure effects mentioned produce this way with certain hose materials slight, hardly visible permanent deformations of the tubular film around the edges of the objects, so that the objects do not fall over when they are no longer held by a retaining finger 12 'and a driver 11' after their passage through the folding box, but only by the hose. In Fig. 1, the end of the folding box 4 and the beginning of the suction chamber 5 are in the same plane AA. When the restraining finger 51 (FIG. 3) enters the suction chamber 5 through the opening 53, which is located in the plane AA, there is a first instantaneous vacuum surge, which affects in particular the first biscuit in group 3 and the last biscuit the previous group 3 'in the direction of transport as mentioned above, while both biscuits are still held by the retaining finger 12' or the driver 11 '. When the driver 11˝ passes through the lower opening 54 (FIG. 3), there is a second instantaneous vacuum surge which supports the effect described. A further support for the described effect can also be achieved by providing for simultaneous passage of the retaining fingers and / or drivers through the openings 53 and 54 at a moment in which the first biscuit of a group 3 and the last biscuit of the preceding group 3 ′ still be held. However, it has been shown that this additional support is not required for all packaging materials. The instantaneous vacuum surges can also be provided in such a way that the end of the folding box 4 is not flush with the beginning of the suction chamber 5. 1, the suction chamber 5 can therefore be shifted both to the right and to the left. The vacuum can be, for example, between 0.03 to 0.1 mWS (approx. 300 to 1000 Pascal), although these limits are not mandatory.

For other packaging materials that do not show the permanent deformations mentioned above, the closure plate 18 and / or the throttle plate 17 can be adjusted in such a way that the changes in vacuum are less than +/- 0.01 mWS. It is also possible to control the closure 18 and / or the throttle 17 in time with the passages of the rotating holder 11, 12 'or 51, 53 through the openings 53 and 54, that the vacuum in the suction chamber 5 only small Subject to fluctuations. The mechanism by which these plates 17, 18 can be controlled is not shown in the figures because its manufacture does not present any particular difficulties for the person skilled in the art.
