Definitions
- the invention relates to a sealing arrangement for a dampening unit of an offset printing machine having a metering roller and an application roller.
- the applicator roller and the metering roller roll on each other in such a way that they form a channel with the upper gusset between these rollers which can hold a fountain solution supply.
- the sealing arrangement seals the channel on the end face.
- the sealing arrangement has in detail a seal holder which can be held on a side part of the dampening unit and in which a sealing element is received.
- the seal holder is prestressed towards the end of the rollers, the sealing element resting radially sealingly on the metering roller and sealingly resting against the application roller on the end face.
- a sealing element which consists of resilient sealing material, is attached to both end faces of the metering roller and the dampening roller.
- the sealing element also consists of a storage plate in which the resilient sealing material is received. The storage plate is held in a guide that is open at the top and can be pulled out in this direction for the purpose of replacement. The position is secured by locking projections that snap into corresponding locking recesses in the storage plate.
- EP-A1 0 047 350 has disclosed a sealing arrangement with the features set out at the beginning with respect to a dampening unit. That in the seal holder
- the sealing element received is pretensioned both axially and radially by spring loading. Sealing takes place in two directions, ie with respect to one direction on the end face of the dampening roller and with respect to the other direction on the outer surface of the metering roller.
- the design of this known sealing arrangement is unsatisfactory, particularly with regard to the need to replace the sealing element designed as a wearing part.
- an upper edge region of the sealing element is acted upon by a support spring which is supported on an angled portion which extends over the edge region of the sealing element. This affects accessibility and complicates the exchange work, which proves to be time-consuming.
- the object of the invention is to provide a sealing arrangement which enables a secure sealing of the channel receiving the dampening solution supply and at the same time a user-friendly replacement of the sealing element.
- the seal holder leaves a swivel path for the sealing element in a ready-for-removal position.
- the sealing element can be pivoted into the ready position for removal by rotating it around the metering roller.
- the assembly and subsequent replacement of the sealing element can be carried out extremely easily.
- Necessary bracket jumps are not formed in an area that the sealing element sweeps over when pivoting around the metering roller.
- the sealing element has a gripping extension.
- the metering roller is used as a "pivot". This not only makes special guides unnecessary, but also provides the advantage of self-adjusting the sealing element with increasing wear during operation.
- the end face sealing surface which cooperates with the dampening roller, has the tendency to pull the sealing element against the release direction due to the direction of rotation of the dampening roller and the prevailing frictional force.
- a holding projection is formed on the seal holder, which protrudes outside of one of the sealing elements on the swivel path swept area. This mounting projection effectively forms a stop for the sealing element downwards, but does not hinder pivoting of the sealing element around the metering roller for mounting or for replacing the sealing element.
- a side surface of the sealing element interacts with a securing part which acts on the side surface.
- the securing part lies, for example, held in position on the side surface by a spring.
- the movable arrangement of the securing part enables the securing part to remain in contact with the sealing element when the sealing element moves due to wear - essentially downwards.
- the side surface on which the securing part acts runs approximately tangentially to a circumference of the metering roller.
- the securing part is intended to prevent an unwanted pivoting movement of the sealing element in the direction of the ready-for-removal position, it is understood that the side face of the sealing element with which the securing part interacts is oriented such that not only a movement of the sealing element vertically upward through the securing part is prevented, but also a pivoting movement of the sealing element around the metering roller, as long as the securing part rests on the relevant side surface of the sealing element.
- the securing part is further preferably designed as a plate with an essentially wedge-shaped edge. A wedge surface, which lies opposite a wedge surface which cooperates with the side surface of the sealing element, interacts with a cam which is fixed with respect to the sealing arrangement.
- the wedge-shaped design enables the required mobility of the securing part in a simple manner in order to enable an advancement during a wear-induced migration of the sealing element.
- the securing part can automatically adjust itself in the case of an - possibly superimposed - wear-related rotary movement of the sealing element in full surface contact on the side surface of the sealing element.
- the cam has a rounded circumferential region which interacts with the wedge surface.
- the spring which acts on the securing part is preferably held on the side part of the dampening unit.
- One leg of the spring engages in a receiving groove of the securing part. By means of the receiving groove, this spring leg can also be caught as it were when the securing part is inserted.
- the securing part is further formed with a receiving pocket into which the cam moves when the securing part moves downward.
- the securing part is moved downwards if the sealing element is to be pivoted into its sealing position for assembly or if the sealing element is to be swung into the ready-for-removal position for replacement.
- a gap is created between the side surface of the sealing element and the facing wedge surface of the securing part due to the tapering wedge. This gap is large enough to allow the sealing element to pivot around the metering roller.
- the securing part is further preferably provided with an overlap projection which projects over and over a side surface of the securing part extends the side part of the dampening system.
- This overlap projection prevents the securing part from falling through when the sealing element is removed into the gap between the side part of the dampening unit and the end face of the dampening roller.
- the overlap projection is preferably formed on both sides of the securing part. Initially, this has particular advantages in terms of production technology. The same securing part can be installed at both roller ends in such a configuration.
- the one-sided, but in particular also the two-sided overlap projection also has handling advantages with regard to actuating the securing part for the purposes mentioned.
- the aim is to make handling as simple as possible and as completely tool-free as possible. In particular, this is achieved in that (also) the seal holder is pivotally mounted on the side part of the dampening unit.
- the seal holder is thus optimally accessible. It proves to be advantageous that the seal holder is pivotally mounted about a pin parallel to the axes of the metering roller and the dampening roller. The swiveling takes place in the narrow end area of these rollers without hindrance.
- This configuration is optimized in that a bearing hook is formed on the seal holder for cooperation with the pin. The removal is limited to simply unhooking the seal holder. It is also easy to assign that the bearing hook is formed on one end of the seal holder facing the metering roller and is also arranged above the circumference of the metering roller.
- the sealing element In order to avoid that when the sealing element is rotated around the metering roller, the sealing element is rotated to the other side of the metering roller when the zenith is exceeded, the pin is over a guide surface of the seal holder, on which the sealing element lies broadly, trained above. This leads, creating a kind of double function of the pin, to a limit stop for the sealing element, which can be grasped at the highest point.
- An essential feature of the invention is that the sealing element can have an area of greater thickness above the channel on its side facing the channel. This region of greater thickness preferably extends essentially radially with respect to the metering roller over the sealing element up to its end which is accessible for manual access.
- This area of greater thickness - alone or in combination with the gripping extension mentioned above - can contribute to the easy removal of the sealing element in terms of handling.
- the gripping surface is advantageously enlarged.
- a sealing element is individualized due to this one-sided projection with respect to the side on which it is to be installed in the dampening unit.
- This region of greater thickness is preferably pulled through to the sealing surface which interacts with the metering roller.
- a dampening unit F is shown and described - in particular with reference to FIGS. 1 and 6 - which has a metering roller 6 and a dampening roller 7.
- the metering roller 6 and the dampening roller 7 roll on each other in a contact zone 11. With their upper gusset they form a channel 5 in which a dampening solution supply 4 is received.
- the metering roller 6 and the dampening roller 7 are arranged and driven such that in the contact zone in which the rollers roll on one another, the respective peripheral speeds are directed essentially downwards.
- the dampening unit F also has a sealing arrangement 1, which consists of the actual sealing element 2 and the sealing holder 3 receiving it.
- the metering roller 6 and the dampening roller 7 are mounted horizontally in the dampening unit F.
- the dampening unit F is limited by side parts 8, of which only one is shown.
- the metering roller 6 has a slightly smaller outer diameter than the dampening roller 7.
- the geometric axes 9 and 10 of the metering roller 6 and the dampening roller 7 are approximately the same height. Due to the relatively rigid design of the metering roller 6 and the more elastic design of the dampening roller 7, the dampening roller 7 is slightly concave in the contact zone 11.
- Arrows 12 and 13 indicate the direction of rotation of metering roller 6 and dampening roller 7 in the operating state.
- the outer surfaces of the metering roller 6 and the dampening roller 7 thus rotate downward via the contact zone 11.
- the sealing element 2 - cf. see also Fig. 2 - is designed in such a way that it rests with an inner narrow side radially on an end region of the metering roller 6 and seals with its wide surface facing the rollers, the dampening roller 7 on the end face.
- the sealing element 2 is formed with sharp edges to prevent the formation of a water ring on the dampening roller 7.
- the relevant end of the metering roller 6 has a hardened or plasma-coated metal ring 14.
- dampening solution is passed by means of a slope 2 'at the upper end of the sealing element 2 in the groove 5, so as not to be thrown away uncontrolled otherwise.
- the sealing element 2 is made of PTFE, for example. This material is both in terms of Wear as well as its low tendency to attach dirt advantageous.
- the level control of the dampening solution supply 4 in the channel 5 can be carried out using measures known per se. Corresponding measures can be found, for example, in the prior art mentioned at the beginning.
- the sealing element 2 can be replaced in a user-friendly manner. This is achieved in that the seal holder 3 leaves a swivel path x for the sealing element 2 in a removal-ready position (see FIG. 5), in which position the sealing element 2 can be pivoted about the metering roller 6 by rotating it.
- the sealing element 2 is positively supported on the metal ring 14 of the metering roller 6.
- the sealing element 2 emerges from the. Functional position (Fig. 4) in the removal ready position (Fig. 5).
- the sealing element 2 has an upward gripping extension 15 in the region of its upward-facing side surface 2 ⁇ (FIG. 2). This gripping extension 15 forms a finger insertion groove 16 in its back, which ends in the horizontal side surface 2 ⁇ in the installed position.
- the sealing surface 17 of the sealing element 2 resting on the metal ring 14 has a length which does not exceed a dimension corresponding to the angle of 180 ° of the circumference of the metal ring 14. In the exemplary embodiment, this sealing surface 17 extends over an angle alpha of approximately 90 °, the contact zone 11 being approximately in the lower third of the 90 ° angle range. The lower end of the sealing element 2 extends sufficiently far downward beyond the contact zone 11, in the exemplary embodiment by approximately 30 °.
- a holder projection 19 is formed, which is located outside an area covered by the sealing element 2 on the swivel path.
- the mounting projection 19 prevents the sealing element 2 from being moved further down by the dragging movement of the metering roller 6 or the dampening roller 7 than is provided in the functional position.
- the sealing element 2 further has a side surface 2 réelle approximately opposite to the sealing surface 17, which cooperates with a securing part 20.
- the essentially wedge-shaped securing part 20 is biased upwards by a spring 21.
- the spring 21 acts on a lower side surface 20 'of the securing part 20.
- This side surface 20' also has a groove, the leg 21 'of the spring 21 lies in this groove.
- the side surface 2 ′′′ of the sealing element 2 extends approximately tangentially to a circumference of the metering roller 6 or likewise tangentially (at a distance) to the sealing surface 17 of the sealing element 2, such that a vertical line intersecting the side surface 2 ′′′, approximately through a point P goes on the circumference of the metering roller 6, as shown in the drawing.
- the point P is also approximately on a radial line passing through the axis 9 of the metering roller 6, which includes an angle of approximately 25 ° with the horizontal.
- the securing part 20 is essentially wedge-shaped in the region K.
- the wedge surface K. interacts with the side surface 2 ′′′ of the sealing element 2, while the wedge surface K ⁇ interacts with a cam 22.
- the cam 22 is fixed on the side part 8 of the dampening unit F (cf. also FIG. 2).
- the securing part 20 widens to form a receiving pocket 23 into which the cam 22 enters when the securing part 20 is pressed down.
- the securing part 20 continues into an overlapping section 24, which lies opposite the wedge surface K ⁇ .
- the wedge surface K ⁇ merges into a receiving bend 25, in which the cam 22 comes to rest when the securing part 20 is pressed completely upwards by the spring 21.
- the securing part 20 can be pulled off the cam 22 through the opening 26. 2
- the cam 22 has at its end facing the dampening roller 7 a collar 27 which overlaps the securing part 20 in some areas. The security part 20 is prevented by this collar 27 from moving perpendicular to the side part 8 of the dampening unit F.
- the securing part 20 forms an overlap projection 28 which projects perpendicular to an extension plane of the securing part 20.
- This overlap projection 28 is formed on both sides of the plate forming the securing part 20. It prevents the securing part 20 from tilting around the cam 22 when the sealing element 2 is removed and from sliding with its upper region down into the gap Sp between the side part 8 and an end face of the dampening roller 7. Due to the design of the overlap projection 28 on both sides, a securing part 20 can be used on both sides of the dampening unit F in the sealing arrangement 1.
- the seal holder 3, which forms a guide surface FL for the sealing element 2 can be pivoted about a pin 29 parallel to the geometric roller axes 9, 10. The pin 29 extends above the metering roller 6. It stands above the guide surface FL of the seal holder 3 before (see Fig. 2). At the same time, the pin 29 forms a limit stop for the sealing element 2 when it is rotated into the removal-ready position (cf. FIG. 5).
- a bearing hook 30 is formed on the seal holder 3 for interaction with the pin 29 supporting it. Its downward-opening bearing mouth forms diverging flanks 31 starting from a basic hook contour. The flanks have a position-centering effect.
- the seal holder 3 which is accommodated in a relatively narrow gap Sp between the front ends of the metering roller 6 and the dampening roller 7 and the inside of the side part 8 of the dampening unit F, is in the axial direction under the action of a pressure spring 32 Head surface 34 constantly acts on the seal holder on the side facing away from the guide surface FL of the sealing element 2 (cf. in particular FIG. 3).
- An angled portion 35 on the seal holder 3 is not only advantageous with regard to handling the seal holder 3 for removal, but also prevents the seal holder 3 from pivoting down so far around the pin 29, for example when the sealing element 2 is removed, that it can only be gripped with difficulty can be. Otherwise, the bend 35 is operationally at a distance from an upper side of the side part 8.
- the position of the you tion holder 3 is rather operationally determined by the sealing element 2, via its support on the holding projection 19. Since the sealing element 2 moves downward due to the wear attack approximately in the direction of arrow Pf during operation, a certain movement of the seal holder 3 is also established .
- the procedure is such that the securing part 20 is pressurized against the action of the leg 21 'of the spring 21, for example on the overlap projections 28.
- the securing part 20 is acted upon accordingly.
- An operator can do this by hand.
- the sealing element 2 can be pivoted from the functional position into the ready-for-removal position by rotating it around the metering roller 6.
- 5 shows the sealing element 2 after such a pivoting process, but with the securing part 20 still depressed (the respective depressing hand not being shown in FIGS. 4 and 5). 5, the sealing element 2 can be easily removed upwards.
- the sealing element 2 it is also essential that it has an area 18 of greater thickness, formed above the channel on the side of the sealing element 2 facing the channel 5.
- This area 18 extends essentially radially with respect to the metering roller 6.
- the slope is inclined 2 'directly into the area 18.
- the area 18 is approximately one formed such a width that it includes the gripping extension 15.
- the gripping extension 15 and the finger insertion throat 16 itself are easier to grasp; in addition, for example, a tool can also be attached directly at a step to the thicker region 18 in order to pivot the sealing element 2 out.
- the area 18 extending to the sealing surface 17 also provides advantages with regard to the wear behavior of the sealing element 2.

The invention relates to a sealing arrangement for a dampening unit of an offset printing machine having a metering roller and an application roller. The applicator roller and the metering roller roll on each other in such a way that they form a channel with the upper gusset between these rollers which can hold a fountain solution supply. The sealing arrangement seals the channel on the end face. The sealing arrangement has in detail a seal holder which can be held on a side part of the dampening unit and in which a sealing element is received. The seal holder is prestressed towards the end of the rollers, the sealing element resting radially sealingly on the metering roller and sealingly resting against the application roller on the end face.
From DE-OS 22 06 498 it is known to stow a fountain solution in the trough between the metering roller and the dampening roller that roll on top of one another. With regard to the sealing arrangement of this known device, a sealing element, which consists of resilient sealing material, is attached to both end faces of the metering roller and the dampening roller. The sealing element also consists of a storage plate in which the resilient sealing material is received. The storage plate is held in a guide that is open at the top and can be pulled out in this direction for the purpose of replacement. The position is secured by locking projections that snap into corresponding locking recesses in the storage plate.
Dies beeinträchtigt die Zugänglichkeit und erschwert die Austauscharbeit, die sich als zeitraubend erweist.EP-A1 0 047 350 has disclosed a sealing arrangement with the features set out at the beginning with respect to a dampening unit. In view of the state of the art described last, the object of the invention is to provide a sealing arrangement which enables a secure sealing of the channel receiving the dampening solution supply and at the same time a user-friendly replacement of the sealing element.
This object is achieved by the invention specified in
Die Unteransprüche geben vorteihafte Weiterbildungen des Gegenstandes der Erfindung an.The subclaims indicate advantageous developments of the subject matter of the invention.
According to the invention, the seal holder leaves a swivel path for the sealing element in a ready-for-removal position. The sealing element can be pivoted into the ready position for removal by rotating it around the metering roller. As a result of this configuration, the assembly and subsequent replacement of the sealing element can be carried out extremely easily. Necessary bracket jumps are not formed in an area that the sealing element sweeps over when pivoting around the metering roller. In order to be able to easily pivot the sealing element into the ready-for-removal position, it is preferred that the sealing element has a gripping extension. The metering roller is used as a "pivot". This not only makes special guides unnecessary, but also provides the advantage of self-adjusting the sealing element with increasing wear during operation. The end face sealing surface, which cooperates with the dampening roller, has the tendency to pull the sealing element against the release direction due to the direction of rotation of the dampening roller and the prevailing frictional force. In order to create a stop for the sealing element in this direction, in order to prevent the sealing element from being moved downward out of the sealing region, it is preferably provided that a holding projection is formed on the seal holder, which protrudes outside of one of the sealing elements on the swivel path swept area. This mounting projection effectively forms a stop for the sealing element downwards, but does not hinder pivoting of the sealing element around the metering roller for mounting or for replacing the sealing element. To secure the sealing element in the sealing position, it is further preferably provided that a side surface of the sealing element interacts with a securing part which acts on the side surface. The securing part lies, for example, held in position on the side surface by a spring. The movable arrangement of the securing part enables the securing part to remain in contact with the sealing element when the sealing element moves due to wear - essentially downwards. When the machine is at a standstill, due to elastic deformations occurring during operation in the dampening roller can occur that tends to turn the sealing element out of its sealing position, such a return movement of the sealing element is effectively hindered. The side surface on which the securing part acts runs approximately tangentially to a circumference of the metering roller. Since the securing part is intended to prevent an unwanted pivoting movement of the sealing element in the direction of the ready-for-removal position, it is understood that the side face of the sealing element with which the securing part interacts is oriented such that not only a movement of the sealing element vertically upward through the securing part is prevented, but also a pivoting movement of the sealing element around the metering roller, as long as the securing part rests on the relevant side surface of the sealing element. The securing part is further preferably designed as a plate with an essentially wedge-shaped edge. A wedge surface, which lies opposite a wedge surface which cooperates with the side surface of the sealing element, interacts with a cam which is fixed with respect to the sealing arrangement. The wedge-shaped design enables the required mobility of the securing part in a simple manner in order to enable an advancement during a wear-induced migration of the sealing element. Characterized in that one of the wedge surfaces cooperates with a fixed cam, the securing part can automatically adjust itself in the case of an - possibly superimposed - wear-related rotary movement of the sealing element in full surface contact on the side surface of the sealing element. It goes without saying that for this purpose the cam has a rounded circumferential region which interacts with the wedge surface. With regard to the required pretension with which the securing part acts on the side surface of the sealing element, it is further preferably provided that this is achieved by a spring which acts on the securing part from below, essentially parallel to that with the Side surface of the sealing element interacting wedge surface. A force acting in this direction would, if it acted directly on the sealing element, attacking the side surface, would attempt to unscrew it from its sealing position. Due to the chosen wedge-shaped design of the securing part and the interaction of the one wedge surface with the described cam, however, there is the advantageous effect that wear-induced wandering - downwards - of the sealing element is not impeded, but nevertheless the securing part becomes unlikely due to a migration movement of the sealing element otherwise resulting gap between the side surface of the sealing element and the facing wedge surface of the securing part immediately - by an upward movement - compensates. The spring which acts on the securing part is preferably held on the side part of the dampening unit. One leg of the spring engages in a receiving groove of the securing part. By means of the receiving groove, this spring leg can also be caught as it were when the securing part is inserted. The securing part is further formed with a receiving pocket into which the cam moves when the securing part moves downward. The securing part is moved downwards if the sealing element is to be pivoted into its sealing position for assembly or if the sealing element is to be swung into the ready-for-removal position for replacement. When the securing part moves downward, counter to the action of the spring force, a gap is created between the side surface of the sealing element and the facing wedge surface of the securing part due to the tapering wedge. This gap is large enough to allow the sealing element to pivot around the metering roller. In its upper region, the securing part is further preferably provided with an overlap projection which projects over and over a side surface of the securing part extends the side part of the dampening system. This overlap projection prevents the securing part from falling through when the sealing element is removed into the gap between the side part of the dampening unit and the end face of the dampening roller. The overlap projection is preferably formed on both sides of the securing part. Initially, this has particular advantages in terms of production technology. The same securing part can be installed at both roller ends in such a configuration. In addition, the one-sided, but in particular also the two-sided overlap projection also has handling advantages with regard to actuating the securing part for the purposes mentioned. Also with regard to the arrangement of the seal holder itself, the aim is to make handling as simple as possible and as completely tool-free as possible. In particular, this is achieved in that (also) the seal holder is pivotally mounted on the side part of the dampening unit. The seal holder is thus optimally accessible. It proves to be advantageous that the seal holder is pivotally mounted about a pin parallel to the axes of the metering roller and the dampening roller. The swiveling takes place in the narrow end area of these rollers without hindrance. This configuration is optimized in that a bearing hook is formed on the seal holder for cooperation with the pin. The removal is limited to simply unhooking the seal holder. It is also easy to assign that the bearing hook is formed on one end of the seal holder facing the metering roller and is also arranged above the circumference of the metering roller. In order to avoid that when the sealing element is rotated around the metering roller, the sealing element is rotated to the other side of the metering roller when the zenith is exceeded, the pin is over a guide surface of the seal holder, on which the sealing element lies broadly, trained above. This leads, creating a kind of double function of the pin, to a limit stop for the sealing element, which can be grasped at the highest point. An essential feature of the invention is that the sealing element can have an area of greater thickness above the channel on its side facing the channel. This region of greater thickness preferably extends essentially radially with respect to the metering roller over the sealing element up to its end which is accessible for manual access. This area of greater thickness - alone or in combination with the gripping extension mentioned above - can contribute to the easy removal of the sealing element in terms of handling. The gripping surface is advantageously enlarged. In addition, it is also essential that a sealing element is individualized due to this one-sided projection with respect to the side on which it is to be installed in the dampening unit. This region of greater thickness is preferably pulled through to the sealing surface which interacts with the metering roller. As a result, a further combinative effect is achieved, since the area of the sealing element located above the groove, the area, generally also has the greatest wear attack.

A dampening unit F is shown and described - in particular with reference to FIGS. 1 and 6 - which has a

The
The sealing element 2 - cf. see also Fig. 2 - is designed in such a way that it rests with an inner narrow side radially on an end region of the

The sealing
On the
The sealing
The
At the top, the securing
Fig. 2). Fig. 5).At its upper end, the securing
In addition, in order to be able to remove the

An
To replace the sealing
It goes without saying that a corresponding sealing arrangement is formed at both ends of the
With regard to the sealing
