Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a connection device for two insulated electrical conductors, provided with two insulation displacement connections on a connection tail.
  • connection devices for the connection of electrical conductors, the two main groups are the wound connections and the insulation displacement connections.
  • the latter are often preferred because they save time in wiring. They are of different possible types, as such known, and generally terminal on contact blades or connection tails of connection devices.
  • One of the insulation displacement connections is that known as a simple fork and constituted by a slot defining two end elastic side arms on a blade or a connection tail.
  • the document EP-A-0014081 describes an insulation displacement connection also terminal but of another type, which is constituted by two slots side by side defining a central arm between them and two lateral arms and receiving a single insulated conductor.
  • the lateral arms have a transverse fold, shifting their own end portions relative to the plane of the central arm, for ease of access of the insulated conductor in the slots and a better perforation of its insulator between the edges facing the lateral and central arms.
  • the object of the present invention is to make two insulation displacement connections on the connection tail of a connection device by making it possible to easily identify them from one another and to access each of them independently, but without however increase the front space accordingly compared to that presented by a single terminal insulation displacement connection.
  • connection device for two insulated electrical conductors, comprising a connection tail provided with two insulation displacement connections, one of which is terminal on said tail and defines a so-called upper connection level of one conductors on the tail considered longitudinally, characterized in that the second connection is non-terminal on said tail, defines a so-called lower level of connection of the other conductor on the tail considered longitudinally and is constituted by a central part of the tail and two lateral tabs folded over said central part and separated from the latter, said lateral tabs extending between said lower level and substantially said upper connecting level and defining internal cutting edges between them and said central part.
  • Figure 1 shows in perspective a device with two superimposed insulation displacement connections.
  • FIG. 2 shows in perspective the same device in which were fixed conductors to be connected.
  • Figure 3 is a section through a horizontal plane passing through the axis of one of the conductors, according to a first form of cross section of the central part of the connection.
  • Figures 4, 5, 6 and 7 show other forms of cross section through a horizontal plane of the central part of the connection.
  • Figure 8 is a section through a median vertical plane of the central part of a connection, representing a first position of a conductor being inserted, and its final locked position, below a retention spoiler.
  • FIG. 9 is a section along the axis IX-IX of FIG. 8.
  • FIG. 10 is a section along the axis X-X of FIG. 8.
  • Figure 11 is a perspective view of a connection device whose upper connection is constituted by a flat plate with a central slot.
  • Figure 12 is a perspective view of the connection device of Figure 11, with conductors inserted in the upper and lower connections.
  • the contact device comprises a lower connection 1 and an upper connection 2, both of them insulation displacement, as well as a lower socket 3 for insertion of connection modules to a distribution block.
  • the lower connection consists of a central part 4 and two lateral tabs 5 and 6, with chamfered upper ends to facilitate the introduction of the conductor to be connected.
  • the front edges of the central part and the internal edges of the lateral tabs facing this central part are sharp, so as to cut into the insulation of the conductor which is inserted therein and thus to establish good contact.
  • the upper connection 2 also consists of a central part 8 with a chamfered upper edge 11 and two lateral tabs 9 and 10, with upper ends also chamfered on the side of the central part, also provided with cutting edges facing each other. .
  • the thickness of the central part is however greater than that of the central part of the lower connection, so to provide it with sufficient rigidity.
  • connection device is preferably made from a relatively thin sheet, cut out, then the side edges of which are folded, for example in bronze.
  • FIG. 2 shows the same connection device after insertion of two conductors 12 in the lower connection and 13 in the upper connection.
  • the insulation of the conductors is started by the cutting edges of the central part and the internal cutting edges of the side tabs, as best seen in Figure 3, showing a section of a U-shaped cross section connection by l conductor axis 12.
  • the central zone of the conductor is thus pinched and fixed to the connection.
  • the central part of the connection can be given different straight sections, as shown in FIGS. 4 to 7.
  • the central part has a stiffening rib 15 projecting from its front face.
  • the stiffening rib 16 projects from its rear face.
  • the contact 18 is V-shaped to provide it with even better rigidity.
  • the central part of the connection is V-shaped, and the lateral tabs are folded down towards the median plane, the openings for introducing the conductor on either side then being opposite one of the 'other.
  • Figure 8 shows a section through a vertical median plane showing how the conductor is introduced between the central part and the tabs of the connection.
  • position 12A horizontal section in FIG. 9
  • the conductor is being inserted. Its insulator is started by the edges of the central part and the legs of the connection and it is deformed so as to present its concavity towards the rear. It is slid downwards, in general using a known type of insertion bar, until it exceeds the locking spoiler 14, formed by stamping a small area of the central part towards the rear. (position 12B). It is then securely held in bending in the contact against an accidental force on the wire towards the top of the connection.
  • connection device of FIGS. 11 and 12 the lower connection 1 is identical to that of FIGS. 1 and 2, and will not be described again.
  • the upper connection 2 is on the other hand in the form of a fork, of a kind known in itself. It is flat, with a thickness greater than that of the central part of the lower connection (eg 0.8 mm instead of 0.5 mm) and provided with a central slot 22 with cutting edges perpendicular to the planes of its faces. . A small stamp 23 near this slot ensures sufficient spacing between its edges.
  • the conductor 13A is forced into the slot 22 whose cutting edges pierce the insulation and thus establish electrical contact with the workpiece.
  • connection of another type, for example a connection comprising a vertical tail around which the end of a conductor to be connected is wound, or else a connection comprising a flat male blade ending in a chamfer and pierced with a hole, and to which a female terminal is connected.
