Description

The present invention relates to improvements made to a sleeping bag, in particular for campers, mountaineers, hikers, etc. and of the reversible type.

There are known sleeping bags generally shaped as a two-sided pocket leaving an upper opening for the head of the user.

More specifically, sleeping bags of this type consist of a quadrangular panel made of flexible material and provided with an insulating lining and folded back on itself, two sides at right angles to one face being joined by a zipper at the two opposite sides from the other side.

Sleeping bags of this type are already known in which the two upper and lower sides of the bag respectively are provided with different properties both with regard to, for example, the thermal insulation coefficients, the nature of the lining material and the possibilities comfort and cushioning they represent.

Such sleeping bags have the particular advantage of allowing, depending on the circumstances, tastes or the choice of the user, to put one or the other face in a higher or lower position, so as to take maximum advantage properties offered by each face.

For example, in this known type of sleeping bag two faces can be provided with different insulation qualities, so that the user can, depending on the season, put in the upper position (that is to say in the active body protection position), the most insulating side or the least insulating side; and thus the same bag can be used in any season, the appropriate face being placed in the upper position according to the ambient temperature at the time of use.

However, it follows that these reversible sleeping bags can hardly be provided with a hood or hood intended to surround the head of the user.

In this case, if only one hood is provided on one side, it follows that the position of the hood controls the use of the bag, the side devoid of hood or cap necessarily being placed in the upper position or in the cover and body protection.

If there are two hoods or caps, that is to say a cap on each side, it then appears that the cap which will be inactive will interfere with the face of the user and cover it with possibly risks of suffocation or in any case of discomfort in breathing.

There are also sleeping bags comprising three layers including two outer layers with identical insulation characteristics between which an intermediate layer is inserted; this structure allows two positions of use depending on whether the sleeper will have above his body a single outer layer or both an outer layer and the intermediate layer. This configuration, however, only allows the bag to be opened by the zipper for one position of use of the bag.

A sleeping bag as described in the preamble of claim 1 is known from US-A-4,183,111.

The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks and makes it possible to produce a sleeping bag of the reversible type, that is to say with two sides having notably insulating or different comfort properties, while allowing the implementation of a hood associated with each of the faces.

To this end, the invention relates to a sleeping bag as characterized in claim 1.

More specifically, each cap comprises, in a manner known per se, a flexible peripheral sheath provided with an inner lace allowing the edges of the cap to be tightened by closing it around the head of the user and, at the level of the upper opening of the bag, a flexible sheath transversely traversing said face in the zone corresponding to the separation between the top of this face and the cap which corresponds to it and which extends this face, said flexible sheath being provided with a lace allowing the opening of the bag to be tightened around the neck of the user once in place in the bag, and provision has been made for the same lace, traversing the flexible sheath provided on a cap, to extend into the flexible sheath arranged transversely on the top of the opposite face, so that this same lace allows both to tighten the cap around the head of the user and at the same time tighten the upper opening of the bag around the neck of the user by the contraction of the side of the bag opposite the cap placed in the active position.

According to yet another characteristic, each lace, successively traversing a flexible sheath at the top of one face of the bag and extending into the peripheral flexible sheath around the opposite cap has a free end to allow the cumulative tightening of the edges of the cap brought into the active position and from the top of the opposite face of the sa put in the upper position, the opposite end of this lace being blocked, for example by sewing, at the end of its receiving sheath.

According to another characteristic, the blocked end of this lace extends outside of its receiving sheath to conform a fixed loop capable of receiving in the engagement position the free end of this lace.

More preferably, each face of the bag comprises means for immobilizing the hood or cap which extend said face, brought into a compacted position for placing it in the inactive position.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which follows and which is given in relation to a particular embodiment presented by way of nonlimiting example and with reference to the appended drawings.

Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the entire bag in the spread position.

La figure 2 représente une vue de détail montrant les extrémités des liens destinés à permettre la mise en forme du sac pour son utilisation.FIG. 2 represents a detail view showing the ends of the links intended to allow the shaping of the bag for its use.

La figure 3 représente une vue en perspective du sac après ramassage et compactage du capuchon correspondant à la face supérieure ainsi amenée en position inactive.FIG. 3 represents a perspective view of the bag after picking up and compacting the cap corresponding to the upper face thus brought into the inactive position.

And FIG. 4 represents the final phase of the bag placed in the position of use, the cap extending the underside of the bag being tightened around the head of the user, at the same time as the edge of the face of the bag brought into position. upper is also tightened around the user's neck.

According to all of the figures, it can be seen that the sleeping bag has two faces 1 and 2 respectively, each face being itself extended by a cap 3 and 4 in the form of a semi-circular yoke extending the corresponding face.

In known manner, the peripheral edges of each of the caps 3,4 comprise a flexible sheath 5,6 provided internally with a link such as a lace 7,8 and making it possible to tighten the cap around the head of the user.

In addition and according to the invention, each upper part of a face 1, 2 of the bag comprises, substantially at the level of the zone corresponding to the top of the bag and the separation limit between a face and the cap which extends this face, a flexible sheath respectively 9.10; this sheath internally containing a link such as a lace allowing retraction and compaction of the top of the bag around the user's neck.

And advantageously, provision has been made for the same link respectively 7.8, passing through a flexible sheath peripheral to each cap, to be extended in the sheath respectively 9.10, which runs through the upper part of the face of the bag, opposite the cap.

Thus, as can be seen for example in FIG. 2, the link such as a lace 7 runs through the sheath 6 which follows the edge of the lower cap 4.

This link therefore penetrates through the opening 6a of the sheath 6 and it emerges at the opposite edges 6b; from there it engages in the end 9a of the sheath 9 to end at the end 9b of this sheath.

This link 7 could come out freely from this end 9b to allow by knotting to operate both the tightening of the edge of the lower cap 4 and the tightening of the upper face 1 of the bag around the user's neck.

La mise en position inactive du capuchon supérieur 3 sera ultérieurement décrite et illustrée aux figures 3 et 4.The placing of the upper cap 3 in the inactive position will be described later and illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4.

Similarly we see that the link 8 enters the sheath 5 corresponding to the upper cap 3 through the open end 5a of this sheath.

And it will then exit at 5b to enter the end 10a of the sheath traversing the opposite underside of the bag.

Et ce même lien 8 va donc déboucher à l'extérieur de la gaine 10 par son extrémité 10b.And this same link 8 will therefore lead to the outside of the sheath 10 by its end 10b.

According to the example which is here described and illustrated, each link has a free end respectively 7 and 8; and the opposite end respectively 7a and 8a is locked, for example by sewing in the end of the receiving sheath 9b and 10b respectively.

Thus each end conforms to a loop 7a, 8a which can receive the free end of the opposite link.

It is thus seen that the free end 7a of the link 7, emerging from the opening 6a of the sheath 6, affecting the lower cap, is passed through the loop 7b which itself comes out of the end 9b of the sheath 9 affecting the upper face 1 of the bag.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the bag comprises, on each face 1 and 2 respectively, and on each of the respectively external and internal walls of each of its faces, a plurality of free links 11, 12, 13 and 11 ′, 12 ', 13', these links being arranged on each wall substantially opposite one with respect to the other and being aligned in the upper part of each face, in the zone corresponding to the separation between the face and the cap which extends this face.

And the functioning of the bag thus described is as follows: It will be recalled that according to a known characteristic, each face 1 and 2 respectively of the bag can be provided according to characteristics in particular of comfort or of insulating power different from each other; this therefore allows the user to choose as a function of time, temperature, circumstances, etc. that of the two faces which will have to be placed in the lower position, to serve as a resting surface and the face which will be put in the upper position to serve as cover and protection.

Thus the bag having been positioned according to the choice of the user, it appears from Figure 1 that the cap 3 which is in the upper position must be released and deactivated so as not to interfere with the sleeper's breathing.

A cet effet on utilise les liens 11,12,13,11',12',13' selon la vue de la figure 3.For this purpose, the links 11, 12, 13, 11 ', 12', 13 'are used according to the view in FIG. 3.

The links 11, 11 ′ which are arranged respectively on an external wall and an internal wall of the upper face 1 are joined together by enclosing between them a part of the cap 3; it is the same for the other links 12, 12 ′ and 13, 13 ′ which are coupled, for example by knotting and which thus return to the compacted position and pick up the cap 3 thus brought into the inactive position.

Ultérieurement l'utilisateur peut dont s'introduire dans le sac, de façon classique en rabattant les deux faces 1 et 2 qui seront ensuite assemblées par la fermeture à glissière 14.Subsequently, the user can then enter the bag, in a conventional manner by folding down the two faces 1 and 2 which will then be assembled by the zipper 14.

Once in place in the sleeping bag the user can then bring the lower cap 4 in the protective position around his head by the play of the lace 7 which allows to tighten, according to the sheath 6, that is to say along the edges of the lower cap 4, the whole of the cap thus brought back around the head of the user; and the traction exerted on the lace 7 allows at the same time, since the lace 7 is extends in the transverse sheath 9 which runs through the upper part of the face 1 of the bag (opposite the cap 4) to tighten at the same time the upper part of the face 1 at the level of the user's neck.

Under these conditions we see that by the same movement and using the same lace 7, the user will be able to tighten around his head the cap and the upper edge of the bag thus ensuring airtight protection of the body, leaving only the front part of the user's face for the purposes of breathing and comfort.

The lace 7 is engaged by its free end 7a in the loop 7b and it is possible to immobilize this free end 7a at the level of tightening desired by the play of a blocking glans of known type 15.

It is understood that what has just been described assuming that the face 1 is placed in the upper position, which corresponds to the use in the active position of the cap 4, can be rigorously transposed in the case where, conversely, the face 1 is brought in the lower position and it is the face 2 which is in the upper position; in this case it is the cap 3 (in the lower position) which is brought into the active tightening position around the head of the user, while the cap 4 will have been previously deactivated compacted and picked up at the top of the face 2 as we have seen this for the case of the cap 3 and as illustrated in FIG. 3.

The invention therefore makes it possible to advantageously produce a sleeping bag allowing the advantages and properties of the reversible sleeping bag to be used in a new way, each side having differential properties capable of being used depending on the circumstances, and at the same time the interest and comfort of a susceptible cap to be put into service, from the underside; while the opposite cap can be deactivated and compacted, thereby avoiding interfering with or disturbing the sleeper's breathing.

Even more, the deactivated and folded hood on the chest provides additional thermal protection.

Claims (4)

  1. Sleeping bag of the type constituted by a bag formed by two double-walled faces (1, 2) made of a textile material and provided in particular with an insulating filling, each face (1, 2) comprises a hood (3, 4) extending said face (1, 2) beyond the upper opening of the bag, two hoods (3, 4) thus being opposite and facing each other, each hood (4, 5) being adapted to be placed alternately in active position of envelopment around the user's head and in inactive position, in that case being compacted and gathered on the face (1, 2) of the bag which corresponds thereto, and each hood (4, 5) cooperates to that end with immobilization means allowing it to be placed in compacted and inactive position,
characterized in that each hood (3, 4) is integral with that face (1, 2) of the bag which corresponds thereto in non-removable manner,
in that the two faces (1, 2) of the bag are provided with different characteristics and properties, particularly concerning the conditions of heat insulation and/or comfort, each face (1, 2) thus being capable of being alternately placed in upper position on top or lower position underneath, depending on the circumstances and choice of the user,
in that the immobilization means are constituted by a plurality of ties (11, 12, 13, 11', 12', 13') fixed at one end, disposed on each wall, respectively outer and inner, of each face (1, 2) of the bag and substantially at the level of the zone of separation between the top of the face (1, 2) of the bag and the hood (3, 4) which extends it, the ties (11, 12, 13, 11', 12', 13') being disposed in concordance from one wall with respect to the other so that two ties (11, 11', 12, 12', 13, 13'), located on each wall and substantially at the same level, are capable of being knotted one (11, 12, 13) to the other (11', 12', 13'), making it possible temporarily to immobilize the hood (3, 4) brought into compacted and tightened position, this hood (3, 4) thus being gathered at the top of the face (1, 2) of the corresponding bag and thus being placed in inactive position at the level of the user's neck.
  2. Sleeping bag according to Claim 1,
characterized in that each hood (3, 4) comprises in manner known per se a supple peripheral sleeve (5, 6) containing an inner lace (7, 8) making it possible to tighten the edges of the hood, closing it around the user's head and, at the level of the upper opening of the bag, a supple sleeve (9, 10) passing transversely over said face in the zone corresponding to the separation between the top of this face and the hood (3, 4) which corresponds thereto and which extends this face, said supple sleeve containing a lace (7, 8) for tightening the opening of the bag around the user's neck once he/she is in position in the bag,
and in that the same lace (7, 8), passing through the supple sleeve (5, 6) provided on a hood, extends in the supple sleeve (9, 10) disposed transversely on the top of the opposite face, with the result that this same lace makes it possible both to tighten the hood around the user's head and at the same time to tighten the upper opening of the bag around the user's neck by contraction of that face of the bag opposite the hood placed in active position.
  3. Sleeping bag according to Claim 2,
characterized in that each lace (7, 8) passing successively through a supple sleeve (9, 10) at the top of a face of the bag and extending in the supple peripheral sleeve (5, 6) around the opposite hood, comprises a free end (7a, 8a) to allow cumulative tightening of the edges of the hood (4) brought into active position and of the top of the opposite face (1) of the bag placed in upper position, the opposite end (7b) of this lace being blocked, for example by stitching, at the end of its receiving sleeve (9b).
  4. Sleeping bag according to Claim 3,
characterized in that the blocked end (7b, 8b) of this lace (7, 8) extends outside its receiving sleeve to form a fixed loop adapted to receive in position of engagement the free end (7a, 8a) of this lace.
