- each needle In its course, straight or curved, each needle first crosses the preform by pushing a rod in front of it, then grabs a needle of thread, then goes back up through the preform by replacing the rod driven by the thread. This replacement finished, the needle goes back down into the preform by a few centimeters in order to release the thread needle (dropped from the loop) and begins a new race to drive out and replace the next rod with a loop of thread.
- the pin of the rod cannot penetrate into the hole of the needle and escapes at the start, and the rod then locks in the preform, which causes deformations and degradations of the radial and circumferential wires.
- the needle only partially descends the rod which ends up blocking in the preform, causing the same degradations and deformations as in the previous case.
- the nipple succeeds in penetrating the hole of the needle, but is blocked by tightening in this one, and the stem cannot be separated from the needle at the end of its downward stroke.

These same tests have shown that the optimum angle ensuring both satisfactory evacuation of the fibrils and not reducing the mechanical resistance of the needle was approximately 45 °.
