Definitions

  • the invention relates to a cable connector according to the first part of claim 1.
  • Cable connectors of this type are used in the low-voltage range, in particular in motor vehicles. They can contain positive or negative connector parts, which are known in different shapes and sizes. Plug part should also be understood to mean eyelets or forks.
  • Insulated cable connectors of this type are already known, in which the fastening part and the strain relief are sleeve-shaped.
  • the cable must first be stripped during assembly before it is inserted into the sleeve part. Then the fastening part and the strain relief are jammed. This creates a mechanical and electrical connection between the cable connector and the cable on the fastening part.
  • a cable connector of the type mentioned at the outset is already known (EP-A-233 399), in which the fastening part has a bendable tab on both sides. Each tab in turn has a tab with a slot on its two side edges oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the fastening part. The two tabs of each tab are first bent by 90 °, and then the tab itself is bent by 90 °. This happens on both sides of the fastener. This creates four consecutive slots into which an insulated cable can be inserted from above. This can be done by hand or with the help of tools. However, the flaps or tabs do not bend into the cable.
  • a connecting element for connecting the ends of two electrical cables is also known (US Pat. No. 3,388,370), in which the cable ends are inserted in a plastic component with two longitudinal receptacles. Then a sliding metal element with two slots is pushed across the two cable ends with a pair of pliers and locked with the help of an outer snap-in bracket. With this device, stripping is no longer necessary, but the space requirement is so large that it cannot be used for plug connections on conventional electrical car devices.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a cable connector for flexible insulated cables in the low voltage range, which is easy to manufacture and install with little effort and requires little space.
  • the invention proposes a cable connector with the features of claim 1.
  • This cable connector is very easy to manufacture and just as easy to install, since only the bendable element needs to be bent and pressed onto the cable.
  • the Element makes both the mechanical and electrical connection. No additional locking is required. It is of course also possible that the cable connector instead of a plug part, the z. B. can be designed as an eyelet, also has a second fastening part. In this case, the cable connector according to the invention can be used to connect two cables.
  • both bendable elements can be arranged in such a way that they can be bent over with pliers pressure.
  • the handling takes place in such a way that the flap is first bent around the side edge of the flap by approximately 90 ° and then the flap is bent over with the flap when the cable is inserted.
  • the cable gets into the slot on its own.
  • a tab has two bendable tabs, each with a slot. Then both flaps are first bent approximately 90 ° each and then the flap is folded over.
  • the cable connector has two tabs arranged opposite one another, each with a tab provided with the slot.
  • the attachment can be particularly durable, since one tab engages around the wire and the other tab.
  • the tabs with the slots are arranged on opposite side edges of the tabs. They then attack the cable at a distance.
  • the slot is formed in an arc shape with two side edges running approximately parallel to one another.
  • the arrangement of the bow is chosen so that the cable is not moved sideways when the tab is bent through the slot.
  • a circular arc is particularly suitable.
  • the slot is widened in the region of its outer end and possibly has rounded edges.
  • the slot narrows somewhat in the direction of its closed end, that is to say that its two side edges come slightly closer together. This gives the copper wires an increasing contact pressure when they are plated through.
  • the slot extends approximately over a quarter circle.
  • the invention proposes that the cable connector is stamped in one piece from a piece of sheet metal so that it forms a blank. This can be slightly pre-bent to make assembly easier. On the outside, the Cable connector or the blank have an insulating coating. It is also possible to slide an insulating sleeve over the cable connector connected to the cable end.
  • the blank shown in Fig. 1 is punched out of a piece of sheet metal. It forms a cable connector for the low-voltage area, such as that used in motor vehicles.
  • the cable connector is provided with a plug part 11, in the example shown a flat plug.
  • the plug part is followed by a fastening part 12 which is elongated.
  • a crossbar 13 is attached, which is to form a strain relief.
  • the actual fastening part has the shape of a rectangle running in the longitudinal direction of the cable connector two parallel longitudinal edges 14 on approximately centrally with respect to each longitudinal edge 14, a tab 15, 16 is attached to the fastening part 12, the extent of which in the longitudinal direction of the cable connector is approximately one third of the fastening part 12.
  • the transverse extent of each tab 15, 16 is chosen so that it is about 1.5 times the width of the fastening part.
  • the tabs 15, 16 are each bent around a bending line 17 lying in the extension of the longitudinal edges 14 of the fastening part 12.
  • a tab 19 is formed in one piece, which can be bent around the side edge 18 of the tab 16.
  • a bending line 20 is also formed here.
  • Rags 19 are roughly in the shape of a quarter circle.
  • the imaginary center of this circle lies approximately at the intersection of the side edges 18 of the tab 16 with the longitudinal edges 14 of the fastening part 12.
  • the tabs 19 each contain a slot 21, which is on the sides 22 of the tab opposite the longitudinal edge of the fastening part 12 19 is open and closed at the opposite end.
  • the slot is delimited by two approximately parallel or concentric side edges 23.
  • the tab 16 contains a tab 19 with a slot 21 on each of its side edges 18.
  • the cable is placed with the insulation on the fastening part 12. Its end edge lies approximately at the connection point between the plug part 11 and the fastening part 12.
  • the flaps 19 are bent upwards or downwards approximately at right angles about the bending lines 20, and then the flap 16 with the flaps 19 is also bent upwards about the line 17 in FIG. 1.
  • the cable then comes to lie in the slots 21, the side edges 23 of the slots 21 cutting the insulation and coming into contact with the copper wires of the cable when the cable is bent further.
  • the flap 15 is bent around the cable, it partially coming to rest outside the flap.
  • the crossbar 13 can then be bent around the insulation of the cable, whereby a strain relief is formed.
  • two tabs 15, 16 are also arranged at the same location as in the embodiment of FIG. 1.
  • Each of the two tabs 15, 16 contains a tab 19 on a side edge 18, which is otherwise configured in the same way as in the embodiment in FIG. 1.
  • the two tabs 19 are arranged on opposite side edges 18 of the tabs 15, 16.
  • Fig. 3 shows on an enlarged scale a slot 21 of a tab 19. It can be seen that the slot 21 is slightly expanded in the area of its open end and is rounded, while its two side edges 23 completely in the area to the closed end of the slot 23 slightly approach each other. The width a of the slot in the area of the end is therefore somewhat smaller than the width b in the area of its front end. This increases the clamping of the cable in the rear region of the slot 21.
