At the second feeding station (40), the second inner part (20) is added, side by side against the first inner part (18). At the third feeding station (42), a folded outer part (12) with its open side edge (16) opposite the fold (14) to the front is placed over the inner parts (18, 20) collected in this way. The end product (10) thus formed has an outer part (12) and two inner parts (18, 20) arranged therein, the folds (26) of the inner parts (18, 20) extending along the side edge (16) of the outer part (12). <IMAGE>

Description

12, bzw.13.The present invention relates to a method for producing multi-part printed products, such as newspapers, magazines and the like, a multi-part printed product produced according to the method and a device for carrying out the method, according to the preamble of claim 1, or 12, or 13.

A device for collecting folded printed sheets is known from EP-B1 0 095 603 and the corresponding US Pat. No. 4,489,930. This has a large number of saddle-shaped supports, which are arranged like ladder rungs on two parallel conveyor chains. Along the upper strand, which is effective in conveying, a plurality of feed points are connected one behind the other, at which folded printed sheets are placed astride the supports, the last printed sheet forming the outer part of the end product. At the end of the conveyor-effective route, the end product, consisting of the collected printed sheets placed on top of one another in this way, is lifted off the supports at a removal point and conveyed away.

Furthermore, EP-A2 0 218 872 or the corresponding US Pat. No. 4,706,951 discloses a device for collating printed products. This has a variety of pocket-shaped receiving parts, which are arranged transversely to the direction of rotation on a rotating driven conveyor chain. There are several feed points along the conveyor-effective route, at which printed products are introduced into the receiving parts. At the end of the conveyor-effective route, the printed products arranged next to one another in the receiving parts are transferred to a further processing station by opening the bottom of the receiving parts. The printed products thus formed by collating do not have a folded outer part within which the other printed products, the inner parts, are arranged.

From CH-PS 584 153 or the corresponding US-PS 3 951 399 a drum-shaped device for inserting printed products is known. At a first feed point, a first folded printed product with its fold ahead is inserted into a pocket-shaped receiving part of a cellular wheel. In the course of one revolution of the cell wheel, the printed product is opened and conveyed to the next feed point which is offset in the axial direction. At this feed point, a further, folded printed product is inserted into the first opened printed product. At further downstream feed points, further printed products are inserted into the first opened printed product, wherein the inserted printed products come to lie side by side or wherein already inserted printed products are opened, and the next following printed product is plugged into it. The multi-part end products thus formed thus have an outer part fed first and at least one inner part arranged therein.

It is an object of the present invention to propose a method and to provide a device with which other types of multi-part printed products can be produced and known print products can be combined in a different way.

12 bzw. 13 gelöst.This object is achieved by the features of the characterizing part of claim 1 or 12 or 13.

In this case, at least one inner part and one outer part are not exclusively joined together to form an end product, the folded outer part at the end being placed astride the inner part with its open side edge opposite the fold. Because the outer part is only added at the end, the inner parts can be joined together in any way. For example, there is the possibility that the inner parts can be brought together or inserted into one another. However, it is also possible for an inner part to be placed astride an inner part or a plurality of joined inner parts, and if necessary at least one further inner part being added laterally. Finally, the outer part is straddled over all the inner parts that have been joined together. The method thus enables the production of printed products, in each of which the open side edge of an inner part opposite the fold runs along the fold of the outer part.

Further preferred embodiments of the method and embodiments of the device for carrying out the method are specified in the further claims.

The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. It shows purely schematically:
  • 1 ag different embodiments of the method,
  • Fig. 2 shows a simplified representation of a first embodiment of a device
  • Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a drum-shaped embodiment of the device

  • 5 - 7 in a simplified representation three further forms of training of the device

The outer part of each end product 10 is designated by 12. The inner part or the inner parts over which in each case the outer part 12 is placed astride with its open side edge 16 opposite the fold 14 are indicated by 18 to 24. The outer part 12 consists in each case of a single folded printed sheet or a plurality of folded printed sheets fed together. A non-folded inner part 18 to 24 each has a single or several jointly fed printed sheets, and a folded inner part 18 to 24 can consist of a single folded printed sheet or a plurality of jointly fed folded printed sheets.

As shown in FIG. 1 a, the outer part 12 for the end product 10 is laid astride the unfolded inner part 18.

Im Endprodukt 10 liegt folglich der offene Seitenrand 28 des Innenteils 18 im Bereich des Falzes 14 des Aussenteils 12.1 b, the outer part 12 is straddled over the folded inner part 18 with the fold 26 at the bottom and the open side edge 28 at the top. Consequently, in the end product 10, the open side edge 28 of the inner part 18 lies in the region of the fold 14 of the outer part 12.

As indicated in FIG. 1 c, two folded inner parts 18, 20 are brought together with folds 26 underneath by collating. The outer part 12 is straddled over these collated inner parts 18, 20, so that in the end product 10 the open side edges 28 of the inner parts 18, 20 lie in the region of the fold 14 of the outer part 12.

Ueber alle drei zusammengefügten Innenteile 18, 20, 22 wird am Schluss der Aussenteil 12 rittlings abgelegt.1 d shows how a further inner part 18 is opened in a first fold 26 located at the bottom not folded inner part 20 is inserted. A further folded inner part 22 is then added laterally to these two inner parts 18, 20. Finally, the outer part 12 is straddled over all three joined inner parts 18, 20, 22.

According to FIG. 1 e, two folded inner parts 18, 20 are first gathered together with an open side edge 28 underneath. The outer part 12 is straddled over these two gathered inner parts 18, 20, so that all the folds 14, 26 are arranged together in the end product 10.

In the further development form of the method according to FIG. 1 f, a further folded inner part 22 with its open side edge 28 is laid astride over two inner parts 18, 20 which are gathered together with the fold 26 located below. Then, in addition to the inner parts 18, 20, 22 thus brought together, a further folded inner part 24 is added laterally. Finally, the outer part 12 is straddled over all inner parts 18, 20, 22, 24.

According to FIG. 1 g, two folded inner parts 18, 20 with fold 26 lying at the bottom are first brought together. A further folded inner part 22 is then straddled over these two gathered inner parts 18, 20. Subsequently, the outer part 12 is placed astride the inner parts 18, 20, 22, and finally the astride inner part 22 and the outer part 12 are stitched together in the area of their folds 14, 26.

For the sake of completeness, it should also be mentioned that further forms of training of the method are conceivable, the outer part and the inner parts not being put together to form an end product exclusively, and the end part always being straddled over the inner parts.

Der Vollständigkeit halber sei noch erwähnt, dass die Innenteile 18, 20, sowie der Aussenteil 12 mittels Zuförderern zugeführt werden können oder mittels bekannten Anlegern ab Vorratsstapeln abgezogen und den Aufnahmeteilen 32 zugeführt werden.2 shows a first embodiment of a device for carrying out the method according to the invention in a highly simplified manner. It has a plurality of receiving parts 32 arranged at a distance one behind the other on a traction element 30 indicated by dash-dotted lines and driven all the way around in the conveying direction F. The longitudinal extension of the receiving parts 32 extends at right angles to the conveying direction F and each receiving part 32 consists of an L-shaped flat sheet, the longer part of which forms a support member 34 directed towards the top and, viewed in the conveying direction F, is inclined slightly forward. The shorter part of the flat sheet protrudes from the support member 34 counter to the conveying direction F, and forms a bottom 36 of the receiving part 32. In the conveying direction F, three feed points 38, 40, 42 are connected in series, which are indicated by arrows. At the first feed point 38, a first folded inner part 18 is inserted with its fold 26 ahead into the receiving part 32. One side of the inner part 18 comes to rest on the support member 34 and the fold 26 on the bottom 36. It should be noted that the support member 34 protrudes slightly beyond the open side edge 28 of the inner part 18. At the second feed point 40, a second inner part 20 is also included leading fold 26 inserted into the receiving part 32 so that the two inner parts 18, 20 abut each other side by side. Finally, at the feed point 42, the outer part 12 with its open side edge 16 opposite the fold 14 is placed astride the two assembled inner parts 18, 20 and the support member 34. The end product 10 thus formed is transported by means of the receiving part 32 to a removal point downstream of the feed points 38, 40, 42 in the conveying direction F, where the two inner parts 18, 20 are raised in a known manner and together with the outer part 12, for example from a gripper, are gripped and transported away. For the sake of completeness, it should also be mentioned that the inner parts 18, 20 and the outer part 12 can be fed by means of feeders or can be drawn off from stockpiles by known feeders and can be fed to the receiving parts 32.

An den Kränzen 54 der Speichenräder 52 sind in Längsrichtung der Trommel 46 verlaufende in radialer Richtung gegen aussen vorstehende Trennwände 56 befestigt, welche in Umlaufrichtung U gesehen die Abteile 48 voneinander trennen.3 shows a drum wheel 46, which is rotatably mounted on a frame 44 and can be driven in rotation, with a plurality of pocket-shaped compartments 48 which extend in the longitudinal direction of the drum 46 and which together rotate in the direction of the arrow U around the rotation axis 50. Spoked wheels 52 (only one of which is visible in FIG. 3) are rotatably mounted on the circumferential axis 50 in the axial direction. On the rims 54 of the spoke wheels 52 are in the longitudinal direction of the drum 46 extending in the radial direction protruding toward the outside partition walls 56 which separate the compartments 48 seen in the direction of rotation U.

Above the drum 46, three feed conveyors 58, 60, 62 connected in the direction of the arrow F are provided, which can be driven synchronously by means of a common drive shaft 64. A downstream conveyor 64 is connected downstream of these feed conveyors 58, 60, 62 and is also only shown schematically. Such feed conveyors 58, 60, 62 and away conveyors 64 are generally known and can be constructed, for example, the same or similar to those in EP-OS 0 218 872 or in CH-PS 575 303 or the corresponding US Pat. No. 4 706 951 or 4058 202 promoters disclosed. The feed conveyors 58, 60, 62 convey printed sheets 66, 68, 70 folded in the feed direction Z to the drum 46, wherein they grip these printed sheets 66, 68, 70 at their trailing edges 72. Upstream of the drum 46 is a guide plate 74, which runs essentially parallel to the feed direction Z and is arranged below the feed conveyors 58, 60 and introduces the leading edges of the printed sheets 66, 68 sliding on it into the respective compartments 48. Below the feed conveyor 62, a schematically illustrated opening device 76 is provided in order to open the printed sheets 70 fed by the feed conveyor 62 at their leading open side edge 78 and to lay them astride the respective partition 56 in such a way that each printed sheet half extends into a different compartment 48.

Während die beiden andern in die Abteile 48 eingeführten Druckbogen 66, 68 vom Druckbogen 70 überdeckt sind.FIG. 4 shows a vertical section through part of the drum 46 according to FIG. 3 in the region of the last feeder 62 seen in the conveying direction F, the successive processing steps on the printed sheets 66, 68, 70 being shown in a shirred manner. On the rim 54 of the spoke wheels 52 (see FIG. 3) sat in cross section C-shaped rails 78 which extend in the longitudinal direction of the drum 46 and which, together with the supports 80 fastened thereon, form partition walls 56. In the rails 78, carriages 84 are slidably mounted in the axial direction of the drums 46 by means of guide rollers 82. The carriages 84 are connected to one another in pairs by means of a bracket 86 on which a control roller 88 is rotatably mounted. The control rollers 88 are guided in a link 92 arranged on the lateral surface of a stationary control cylinder 90. The development of the self-contained link 92 shows an S-shape and causes the carriages 84 to carry out a conveying stroke in the direction of arrow U and a return stroke in the opposite direction with one revolution in the direction of arrow U, the lifting height essentially being the distance between two feed conveyors 58, 60 ; 60, 62 corresponds (see also Figure 3). Provided on each carriage 84 on the side facing away from the guide rollers 82 is a protruding guide element 94 which is bent radially outward and which forms the bottom of the relevant compartment 48. Viewed in the radial direction, a pivot shaft 96 extending in the axial direction is mounted on the carriage 84 within the guide element 94, to which a plurality of resilient clamping tongues 98 are fastened, only one of which is visible in each case. The pivot shafts 96 and thus also the clamping tongues 98 can be pivoted from a rest position, in which they are covered by the respective guide element 94, into a clamping position denoted by 98 'and back again in accordance with a further link control that is not visible in this FIG. 4. With 100 dash-dot line is an endless circumferential support band, which is below the Drum 46 (Figure 3) is provided. The fold 70 'of the printed sheet 70 astride the support 80 comes to rest on it for a short time. While the other two printed sheets 66, 68 introduced into the compartments 48 are covered by the printed sheet 70.

The device according to FIGS. 3 and 4 works as follows:

With the drum 46 rotating in the direction of rotation U, the feed conveyor 58 introduces a first printed sheet 66 into each compartment 48. Then the clamping tongues 98 of the compartment in question are transferred to the clamping position 98 'in order to hold the printed sheet 66 in the compartment 48 when passing through the lower half of the conveying path. As a result of the conveying stroke of the carriage 84 in question, the printing sheet 66 is conveyed in the conveying direction F into the area of the next feed conveyor 60. Before the relevant compartment 48 reaches the feed conveyor 60, the relevant clamping tongues 98 are pivoted back into their rest position, after which the second printed sheet 68 fed by the feed conveyor 60 can now be introduced into the compartment 48. When the clamping tongues 98 are in the open position, the carriages 84 in question make their return stroke in order to then again carry out a conveying stroke with their clamping tongues 98 holding the two printed sheets 66, 68, which are now side by side, next to one another. When the clamping tongues 98 are swiveled back into the rest position, a print sheet 70 is straddled by the feed conveyor 62 on each support 80, so that the support 80 and the other print sheets 66, 68 arranged in a compartment 48 are covered by it (cf. in particular FIG 3, left). In the course of the further rotation of the drum 46, the first two printed sheets 66, 68 and the printed sheet halves extending into the relevant compartment 48 are clamped by a clamping tongue 98 of printed sheets 70 astride two adjacent supports 80 (FIG. 4, center). As soon as a compartment 48 in question has reached the region approximately centrally below the axis of rotation 50, the clamping tongues 98 in question are opened briefly, the two adjacent printed sheets 66, 68 falling radially outward into the region of the support band 100. The support band 100 prevents the printed sheets 66, 68, 70 from falling out of the compartments 48 or from the supports 80 (FIG. 4, right). Then the clamping tongues 98 are again transferred into their clamping position 98 'and remain in this position until the joined printed sheets 66, 68, 70 have reached the conveyor 64. There, the printed sheets 66, 68, 70 are recorded together and conveyed away. Further processing stations can optionally be provided in the area between the feed conveyors 58, 60, 62 and the removal conveyor 64. By extending the drum 46 and increasing the number of feeders 58, 60, 62, more than three printed sheets 66, 68, 70 can also be joined together.

Im Bereich der Entnahmestelle 106 ist ein Führungsorgan 108 angeordnet, um die auf dem Boden der Aufnahmeteile 32 anstehenden Innenteile 18, 20 anzuheben.FIG. 5 shows a device which is very similar to the device described above and shown in FIG. 2. Saddle-shaped supports 102 are fastened to a traction member 30 driven in the direction of conveyance F, which alternately form a support 102 and a receiving part 32 in the region of the conveyor-effective route. Each edition 102 is one only Assigned schematically shown opening device 104. In the area of the conveyor-effective route, three feed points 38, 40, 42 connected in series are provided for feeding inner parts 18, 20 or outer part 12 and a removal point 106 connected downstream. A guide element 108 is arranged in the region of the removal point 106 in order to raise the inner parts 18, 20 which are in contact with the bottom of the receiving parts 32.

At the first feed point 38, a folded inner part 18 with its fold 14 in front is inserted into each receiving part 32. In the course of the transport to the next feed point 40, this inner part 18 is opened by means of the opening device 104, after which the inner part 20 fed at the feed point 40 is inserted into the opened first inner part 18. On the way to the third feed point 42, the inner part 18 is brought back into the closed position by the opening device 104. At the feed point 42, a folded outer part 12 with its open side edge 16 opposite the fold 14 is placed astride each support 104 and over the inner parts 18, 20. When the removal point 106 is reached, the two inner parts 18, 20 are raised by means of the guide member 108 to such an extent that the outer part 12 together with the two inner parts 18, 20 can be gripped by a conveyor (not shown) and transported away.

According to FIG. 6, the supports 102 are fastened to a carousel-like holding arrangement, which by its vertical Axis of rotation 110 is indicated schematically. The holding arrangement driven in the direction of arrow U transports the supports 102 or the receiving part 32 delimited by them along the feed points or the removal point arranged on the periphery of the holding arrangement. Of these, however, only the feed point 42 is indicated, which in an analogous manner to the device according to FIG. 5 places the outer part 12 over the support 102 and the inner part 18.

Finally, FIG. 7 shows in cross section a stationary, elongated, V-shaped receiving channel 112, one flank 114 of which is designed as a saddle-shaped support 116 at the upper end. The receiving channel 112 is assigned a transport element, schematically indicated by a driver 118, in order to convey the inner part 18 inserted into the receiving channel 112 and the outer part 12, which is straddled over the support 116 and the inner part 18, along the receiving channel 112 to a removal point (not shown).

The support member 34 or the supports 80, 102, 116 do not necessarily have to protrude beyond the inner parts 18, 20, 24, 66, 68, it is sufficient that they impart sufficient lateral support to the inner parts 18, 20, 24, 66, 68 so that they don't buckle.

The method described above and the devices specified are particularly suitable for the processing of newspapers, magazines or the like. However, it is also conceivable that only the outer part 12 is a printed product, and the inner part 18, 20, 22, 24 can be another flat product, such as a fabric sample.

For the sake of completeness, it should also be mentioned that the end product 10 can be processed further. For example, it can be assembled, bound, packaged, addressed, etc. with other products.

With the device according to the invention, it is also possible to collect, collect or insert printed products.
