Definitions
- the present invention relates to a portable removable signaling device, with an indicator panel mounted on a deployable base placed on the ground in the service position, usable in particular for road traffic.
- these devices often have insufficient stability, despite inconvenient ballasting, for example by means of pig iron pigs or sandbags, in particular with regard to the wind which can overturn the panel and thus make it invisible and then dangerous for road users who pass at the location of such a sign.
- the present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks by providing a removable, light, economical signaling device, which does not require ballasting, easy to transport and to set up and also having satisfactory stability in the service position, in particular for resisting to the effects of the wind.
- this portable removable signaling device with an indicator panel mounted on a deployable base placed on the ground in the service position, usable in particular for road traffic, in which the deployable base consists of two articulated front and rear elements, their upper parts, around a horizontal axis so as to be able to be applied one on the other or in the other in the storage and transport position or to be deployed, in the service position, forming a dihedral in support on the ground, the front base element carrying the indicator panel, is characterized in that the indicator panel is permanently articulated, at its lower part, on the lower part of the front base element, about a horizontal axis parallel to the axis of articulation of the two base elements, and in that elastic return means are provided between the lower parts of the indicator panel and the front base element to resiliently return the indicator panel to a substantially vertical position when the base is deployed.
- the signaling device offers the advantage that the indicator panel is very stable because, when it is subjected to a thrust exerted from front to back, it bears on the entire base which does adheres better to the ground and on the contrary, when it is subjected to a thrust from back to front, it rests on the lateral branches of the front element of the base and it then benefits, by leverage , of the whole counterweight of the entire base.
- the momentary oscillations created by strong air displacements due for example to the passage of cars, give movements to the message carried by the panel, messages which become even more present and more effective.
- the simplicity and lightness of the signaling device according to the invention make it very handy and that it can be transferred very simply in just a few seconds from its storage area to the place where it must be put into service, and similarly when it is picked up until it returns to its storage area. These maneuvers are carried out without the need to use any tool, in a simple manner, and without effort and without the panel causing any risk due to traffic on road or highway.
- the signaling device has, once folded, a very small footprint and in the deployed and folded state it does not have any protruding, aggressive or dangerous part, likely to harm the safety of the person nel of service or to the safety of motorists in the event of collisions or accidents. Due to its lightness and small footprint, it cannot constitute any inconvenience or danger for the personnel responsible for handling it. Furthermore, it does not require any costly maintenance due to its simplicity of design, it is very reliable and it can have a long service life. - These two bars torsion 6,7 extend horizontally and transversely through respective holes 8,9 (figure 3) drilled horizontally and transversely in the lower part of the panel 1.
- the upper torsion bar 6 is fixed, at its left end in the figure 1, to the left lateral branch 2a of the front base element 2, by means of a welding point 11, it passes through the upper hole 8 drilled in the lower part of the panel 1 and it is fixed to this panel 1, at its right end, by means of a welding point 12.
- the lower torsion bar 7 is fixed, at its right end, to the right lateral branch 2b of the front base element 2, by means of a welding point 13, it extends through the lower hole 9 drilled in the lower part of the panel 1 and it is fixed, at its left end, to the panel 1, by means of a welding point 14.
- the two torsion bars 6,7 are mounted and fixed to the panel 1 and to the front base element 2 so that, when the base 2,3 is deployed and the panel 1 released, this panel assumes a substantially vertical position. In this position the panel 1 can oscillate freely relative to the vertical around a lower articulation axis defined by the two torsion bars 6,7.
- the articulation device 4 of the two front 2 and rear 3 base elements comprises, as can be seen more clearly in FIG. 4, a hinge 15, the two wings 15a, 15b of which are fixed, for example by means of rivets 16, respectively to the two flattened tubular crosspieces 2c, 3c constituting the upper cores of the two elements 2,3.
- the articulation device 4 is advantageously provided with a spring tending to keep the two base elements 2, 3 in the deployed position apart, by forming a dihedral with an angle substantially equal to 90o, as it is shown in Figures 1,2 and 4.
- This spring is advantageously constituted by an elastic metal blade 17 cambered so as to constitute a cylindrical surface around the axis of the hinge 15 and whose flat end portions 17a, 17b, folded outwards and contained in radial planes, are engaged respectively between the wings 15a, 15b of the hinge 15 and the flattened tubular crosspieces 2c, 3c so as to be kept clamped between them and locked with rivets 16.
- the external distance between the two tubes constituting the two lateral branches 2a, 2b of the front base element 2 is chosen a little less than the internal distance between the two tubes constituting the two lateral branches 3a, 3b of the rear base element 3.
- the front base element 2 can be housed at the 'interior of the rear base element 3, in the same plane as the latter.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a portable removable signaling device, with an indicator panel mounted on a deployable base placed on the ground in the service position, usable in particular for road traffic.
Various signaling devices of this type are already known, such as those described for example in US Pat. Nos. 3,153,872 and 4,365,435. These known signaling devices have a certain number of drawbacks and in particular they are relatively heavy and expensive. in the long run, especially when they include large panels. They generally cause transport difficulties, in particular by their shape and their bulk as regards packaging, and installation and their significant weight tends to aggravate the consequences of a shock from a vehicle passing close to the panel and likely to inadvertently hitting him. In addition, these devices often have insufficient stability, despite inconvenient ballasting, for example by means of pig iron pigs or sandbags, in particular with regard to the wind which can overturn the panel and thus make it invisible and then dangerous for road users who pass at the location of such a sign.
The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks by providing a removable, light, economical signaling device, which does not require ballasting, easy to transport and to set up and also having satisfactory stability in the service position, in particular for resisting to the effects of the wind.
To this end, this portable removable signaling device, with an indicator panel mounted on a deployable base placed on the ground in the service position, usable in particular for road traffic, in which the deployable base consists of two articulated front and rear elements, their upper parts, around a horizontal axis so as to be able to be applied one on the other or in the other in the storage and transport position or to be deployed, in the service position, forming a dihedral in support on the ground, the front base element carrying the indicator panel, is characterized in that the indicator panel is permanently articulated, at its lower part, on the lower part of the front base element, about a horizontal axis parallel to the axis of articulation of the two base elements, and in that elastic return means are provided between the lower parts of the indicator panel and the front base element to resiliently return the indicator panel to a substantially vertical position when the base is deployed.
The signaling device according to the invention offers the advantage that the indicator panel is very stable because, when it is subjected to a thrust exerted from front to back, it bears on the entire base which does adheres better to the ground and on the contrary, when it is subjected to a thrust from back to front, it rests on the lateral branches of the front element of the base and it then benefits, by leverage , of the whole counterweight of the entire base. In addition the momentary oscillations created by strong air displacements, due for example to the passage of cars, give movements to the message carried by the panel, messages which become even more present and more effective.
Furthermore, the simplicity and lightness of the signaling device according to the invention make it very handy and that it can be transferred very simply in just a few seconds from its storage area to the place where it must be put into service, and similarly when it is picked up until it returns to its storage area. These maneuvers are carried out without the need to use any tool, in a simple manner, and without effort and without the panel causing any risk due to traffic on road or highway.
The signaling device has, once folded, a very small footprint and in the deployed and folded state it does not have any protruding, aggressive or dangerous part, likely to harm the safety of the person nel of service or to the safety of motorists in the event of collisions or accidents. Due to its lightness and small footprint, it cannot constitute any inconvenience or danger for the personnel responsible for handling it. Furthermore, it does not require any costly maintenance due to its simplicity of design, it is very reliable and it can have a long service life. It can be packaged in a very small volume and it is transportable in sufficient quantity by any light vehicle to ensure the signaling assemblies meeting road safety standards, namely work signaling, accident signaling, maintenance signaling as well as to ensure mobile advertising campaigns etc.
The device according to the invention which does not require the use of any ballast, can be used not only for road signs but also in other fields, for example for advertising at points of sale or the like.

The removable signaling device according to the invention which is shown in the drawing, is provided, by way of nonlimiting example for the control or the service of road traffic. This device essentially comprises an
To make it possible to obtain a small thickness of the signaling device in the folded position as shown in FIGS. 7 to 10, the external distance between the two tubes constituting the two
