Da bei herkömmlichen Waschmaschinen das Bullaugen­glas mit dem Waschwasser bzw. der Waschlauge direkt in Verbindung steht, weil an dem Bullaugenglas ein Teil der Abdichtung gegenüber dem Inneren des Laugenbehälters erfolgt, nimmt das Bullaugenglas die Temperatur des Waschwassers bzw. der Waschlauge an. Bei Kochwäsche kann das bis zu 95° betragen. Dadurch kann es bei Berühren oder Anfassen des Bullaugenglases zu Verbrennungen an den Händen kommen. Erfindungsgemäß wird diese Aufgabe dadurch gelöst, daß das versenkte Bullaugenglas vorzugsweise gegenüber dem Halterahmen thermisch isoliert ist, und daß außerhalb des versenkten Bullaugenglases im Halterahmen eine weitere, wenigstens bereichsweise, durchsichtige Abdeckblende angeordnet ist. Dies ermöglicht einerseits das visuelle Beobachten des Waschvorganges, beispiels­weise um feststellen zu können, ob ein Wäschestück ausgefärbt hat, und gibt andererseits die Sicherheit, daß Verbrennungen durch unbedachtes Berühren des Bullaugen­glases vermieden sind. Weiters bedeutet die erfindungs­gemäße Ausbildung keine Veränderung der Außenausbildung der Waschmaschine, so daß eine Einbaufähigkeit od. dgl. nicht beeinträchtigt wird. Auch ist dadurch eine etwaige Nachrüstung bereits bestehender Waschmaschinen ermög­licht. Schließlich kann bei Verwendung der thermischen Isolierung des Halterahmens gegenüber dem Bullaugenglas der Halterahmen aus gut wärmeleitendem Material, wie z.B. Zudem wird durch die Hinterlüftung auch noch erreicht, daß ein Beschlagen des Glases und damit ein Undurchsichtigmachen desselben verhindert ist. Es kann jedoch die Abdeckblende mit dem Bullaugenglas auch zu einer Isolierglaseinheit zusammengefaßt sein, wobei vorzugsweise die Isolierglas­einheit am Halterahmen wärmeisoliert befestigt ist. Durch die Öffnungen 6 kann Frischluft in den Ringraum 5 eintreten, von welchem aus die Frischluft über den Spalt 4 in den Innenraum zwischen dem Bullaugenglas und der Abdeckblende eintreten kann. An der gegenüberliegenden Seite kann die warme Luft über den Spalt 4 und die entsprechenden Öffnungen 6 wieder austreten.
