Abstract

A sewing machine capable of automatically severing a thread chain between successive pieces of sewing material includes a cutting device provided behind a sewing needle in a feed direction of the sewing material, a suction device for sucking the thread chain toward the cutting device, and a feeder and a cooperating pressure plate of a presser foot which each have a projection extending in the feed direction such that the cutting device and the ends of the feeder and the presser plate lie substantially in one plane.

Description

  • (a) in Nähgutvorschubrichtung hinter der Nähnadel und seitlich gegenüber der Nähachse versetzt ist eine Schneideinrichtung angebracht;
  • (b) der Schneideinrichtung ist eine Saugeinrichtung zugeordnet, um die Fadenkette zur Seite und zu der Schneideinrichtung zu saugen;
The invention relates to a sewing machine with a device for automatically severing the thread chain between successive pieces of sewing material, comprising:
  • (a) a cutting device is attached behind the sewing needle in the feed direction and laterally offset from the sewing axis;
  • (b) a suction device is assigned to the cutting device in order to suck the thread chain to the side and to the cutting device;
  • (c) the cloth pusher and the cooperating pressure plate of the presser foot of the sewing machine each have an extension in the material feed direction on their side farther from the cutting device and the suction device that the cutting device and the ends of the cloth pusher and the pressure plate are essentially in lie on one level.

In known sewing machines equipped with a device for automatically severing the thread chain, the piece of sewn sewn fabric, after its trailing edge has passed the end of the fabric pusher and the pressure plate of the presser foot, must be pulled forward to the cutting device. This clears the work surface of the sewing machine for the subsequent piece of sewing material. While the operator feeds a piece of sewn material by hand to the cutting device, he is prevented from continuing the actual sewing work.

The invention relieves the operator of the described, time-consuming handling activity. There is an increase in productivity. The sewing machine is technically very simple.

In the sewing machine according to the invention, the piece of sewn fabric that is sewn in each case is transported on without the operator's intervention and without the use of any additional conveying devices, and the thread chain between successive pieces of sewing material is cut automatically. Even when the rear edge of each piece of sewing material has passed through about a third of the length of the fabric pusher and the pressure plate from its rear end, the operator can devote himself to preparing the next piece of sewing material. The completion of the sewing process on the previous piece of sewing material and the transfer of the sewn sewing material piece are carried out automatically without the operator having to monitor this in particular and to intervene in order to transport the sewn sewing material piece onward. Further transport of the piece of sewing material after the thread chain has been severed to other processing stations is also possible automatically.

The fabric slide extended on one side and the pressure plate elongated on one side cause a tendency of the respective piece of sewing material to move obliquely forward sideways to the cutting device, the thread chain between this sewing material piece and the subsequent sewing material piece being relaxed. As a result, the suction of the thread chain to the cutting device is facilitated.

The invention is explained in more detail, for example, using a preferred embodiment according to the drawing.

Show it
  • Figure 1 shows the working surface of a sewing machine together with the machine parts fabric slide and pressure plate of the presser foot according to the invention in side view; and
  • FIG. 2 shows a plan view of the working area of the sewing machine according to FIG. 1.

In the working area of the sewing machine according to FIGS. 1 and 2, a needle plate 2 is embedded in its working surface 1. This takes on a fabric pusher 3. Furthermore, as seen in the direction V of the material feed, a wedge-shaped projection 2.1 pointing in the same direction is formed on the right long side of the needle plate 2. The free-running section of the attachment 2.1 is separated from the actual needle plate 2 by a slot 4 located in the sewing axis A, into which the sewing needle 5 of the sewing machine engages to form the thread structure or the thread chain F. In FIG. 1, a pressure plate 6 of a presser foot 7 of the sewing machine, which can be raised and lowered, cooperates with the fabric slide 3. Finally, a cutting device 8 with an integrated suction device, aligned parallel to the sewing axis A, is arranged along the right long side of the work surface 1. The suction opening 10 of the suction device is aligned at right angles to the feed direction V.

14 beträgt etwa 20% der bisher üblichen Baulänge lu des Stoffschiebers 3 bzw. der Druckplatte 6.As can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2, the fabric slide 3 and the pressure plate 6 each have an extension 12 or 14 on their side facing away from the cutting device 8 in the direction V of the material feed, so that they extend from the operating side of the sewing machine (below viewed in FIG. 2), extend to the level of the cutting edge 8.1 of the cutting device 8. The plane of the cutting edge 8.1 is at right angles to the feed direction V. The extension 12 or 14 is approximately 20% of the length l u of the fabric slide 3 or the pressure plate 6 which has been customary hitherto.

In FIG. 1, the dash-dotted outline of the rear part of a sewing material piece N also represents that position of the sewing material piece N in the course of the sewing process, from which no more monitoring by the operator is necessary and the operator can concentrate on the preparation of the next piece of sewing material N.

In the drawn position of the workpiece N, there is a distance between its rear edge and the rear edge of the pressure plate 6, which is approximately 1/3 of the overall length l D of the pressure plate 6.
