Abstract

A device for emptying a liquid accumulator (2) of water-carrying domestic appliances comprises a centrifugal pump (3) with a pump housing (4) enclosing an overmounted pump wheel (6), which housing has an axial intake pipe (7) and a radial pressure pipe (9), of which, as necessary, the intake pipe (7) is connected to the liquid accumulator (2) and the pressure pipe (9) serves to drain the liquid delivered by the centrifugal pump (3), in each case by means of a hose section (8 or 10) fiited to them. In order, by very simple means, to effectively prevent the occurrence on such a device of unwanted gurgling noises from the centrifugal pump (3) and attendant motor noises, it is proposed that a return conduit (11) of smaller cross-section from the area of the pressure pipe (9) or from a hose section (10) fitted to this and serving for drainage of the delivered liquid, and/or from the annular pressure area of the pump wheel (6), should empty into the area of the intake pipe (7) or into a hose section (8) fitted to it and connectable to the liquid accumulator (2). …<IMAGE>…

Description

The invention relates to a device for emptying a liquid collecting container of water-bearing household appliances, consisting of a centrifugal pump with a pump housing enclosing a floating pump impeller, which has an axial suction nozzle and a radial pressure nozzle, of which the suction nozzle with the optionally has a piece of hose attached to it Liquid collecting container is connected, and the pressure port is used to discharge the liquid delivered by the centrifugal pump.

The centrifugal pumps used in such devices are consistently low-power pumps which are usually driven by shaded-pole motors and which are insensitive to Ver in their construction dirt, fluff, impurities and foreign bodies. Since the general efforts now also in household appliances to offer machines that are as quiet as possible, the drainage pump has been included in this process of minimizing noise. Through refined storage technology and electrical and magnetic motor design, it has now been possible to build such pumps so quietly that they have the desired running behavior during the normal pumping process.

However, a noise condition that is only present after the liquid collecting container has been emptied is still a hindrance and is referred to in specialist circles as "snorkeling noise". This periodically occurring noise is louder than the other machine noises and, above all, very unpleasant because it alternately swells and swells, which is perceived as particularly annoying.

The occurrence of the aforementioned snorkeling noise can be explained by the processes described below. After the liquid collection container has been pumped empty, air is sucked in by the pump, which then gets into the pump housing. At this time there is a water column above the rotating pump wheel piece of hose connected to the pressure port. As soon as there is air in the pump housing, it is pushed back into the pump housing due to the force of gravity and thus comes into the area of the still rotating pump wheel, is grasped by it and pumped back into the hose, whereupon the water column presses down again and into it Pump housing penetrates. In these alternating pumping processes, which are associated with considerable noise, the motor shaft of the drainage pump is also set in oscillating movements, so that the shaft and the rotor move back and forth in the axial direction, as much as the clearance of the bearing permits. As a result, there are additional noises superimposed on the snorkeling noises.

So far, attempts have been made to remedy this by using different hose designs and arrangements, as well as with thicker and thinner hoses. In addition, pre-chambers designed as filter chambers were provided in the pump housing. However, all of these measures were unsuccessful, and the reduction or suppression of the axial play of the motor bearing was also unsuccessful.

From the above points of view, it is the object of the invention to provide a device for emptying a river to create liquid collecting container of water-bearing household appliances, in which the occurrence of the disadvantageous snorkeling and motor noises is eliminated both effectively and with the simplest means.

The measures proposed to solve the task are evident from the claims.

The return channel connecting the pressure side with the suction side of the centrifugal pump according to the invention ensures that a liquid circuit is formed in the pump housing after the collection container has been emptied, which now avoids the pressure fluctuations and periodic oscillations which previously occurred. The simultaneously occurring, but only very small, reduction in the delivery rate of the pump is negligibly small in practice and is far outweighed by the advantage of noise reduction achieved.

  • Fig. 2 u. 3 zwei weitere in größerem Maßstab einzeln abgebildete ähnliche Entleerungsvorrichtungen.
Exemplary embodiments of the subject of the application are described below with reference to the drawings. The following show in detail:
  • Fig. 1 is a schematic sectional view of an emptying device according to the invention and mounted in a water-bearing household appliance
  • Fig. 2 u. 3 two further similar emptying devices individually shown on a larger scale.

This centrifugal pump 3 has a pump housing 4, which surrounds a pump wheel 6, which is overhung and is driven by an electric motor 5. The axial suction port 7 of the pump housing 4 is connected to the liquid collecting container 2 via a first hose section 8, and the radial pressure connection 9 is fitted with a second hose section 10 serving to discharge the liquid conveyed by the centrifugal pump 3.

According to the main feature of the invention, in the area of the pressure connection 9, from the hose section 10 placed thereon, a reflux duct 11 designed as a hose section with a smaller cross-section leads into the area of the suction connection 7, in order to flow there into the hose section 8 connected to the liquid collecting container 2. This backflow channel 11, which runs from the pressure port 9 to the intake port 7, causes a liquid circuit in the pumps due to the pressure difference between the intake port 7 and the pressure port 9 Housing 4 results, which eliminates the causes of the previous noise in the centrifugal pump 3.

The centrifugal pumps 12 and 13 shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 do not fundamentally differ in their construction from the centrifugal pump 3 just described. Only the pump housing 4 is formed differently from FIG. 1 in both cases, in that the return flow channel 11 is also included in this was included. Thus, in FIG. 2, based on the drawn side view of the centrifugal pump 12, it is guided in the form of a segment of a circle from the pressure nozzle 9 to the suction nozzle 7, so that it is possible to manufacture it in one piece by means of a core rotatably mounted in the mold and, in this respect, the pump housing 4.

Ein solches Pumpengehäuse 4 läßt sich nicht nur sehr viel einfacher fertigen als das Pumpengehäuse 4 der Fig. 2, sondern der zum Pumpenrad 6 hin offene Spalt 14 kann auch weniger leicht mit Schmutzteilchen verstopft werden, das insbesondere für die Entleerungspumpen von Wasch- oder Geschirrspülma schinen große Bedeutung hat.3, where it is molded into the pump housing 4 as a gap 14 which is open towards the pump wheel 6, shows a configuration, again modified in comparison with FIG. 2, of the return flow channel 11 running between the pressure port 9 and the intake port 7. Such a pump housing 4 is not only much easier to manufacture than the pump housing 4 of FIG. 2, but the gap 14 which is open towards the pump wheel 6 can also be less easily clogged with dirt particles, in particular for the drainage pumps of washing or dishwashing machines seems very important.

Seine Wirkung bliebe trotzdem erhalten, insofern er in den ringförmigen Druckbereich des Pumpenrades 6 einmündet, wobei man ihn sodann konstruktiven Gegebenheiten entsprechend um einen beliebigen Winkel gegenüber dem Druckstutzen 9 und/oder dem Ansaugstutzen 7 versetzt am Boden des Pumpengehäuses 4 anordnen kann.3, it would also be possible for the gap 14 to extend into the intake port 7 instead of into the pressure port 9, or neither into the pressure port 9 nor into the intake port 7. Its effect would still be retained insofar as it opens into the annular pressure region of the pump wheel 6, whereby it can then be arranged at the bottom of the pump housing 4 according to structural conditions corresponding to any angle relative to the pressure connection 9 and / or the suction connection 7.
