Abstract

The wrist watch with two time zones comprises two mutually independent movements (1, 2) arranged beside each other, the distance (L) between their centres (12, 13) being smaller than the diameter (D) of each of the movements (1, 2). In a preferred embodiment, the two movements are identical, one of the two movements being rotated by 180 DEG around its centre (12 or 13) relative to the other, and the adjacent parts of the two bottom plates (3, 4) of the movements (1, 2) being cut away in order to overlap each other. Such an arrangement makes it possible to obtain a wrist watch with two time zones which has a relatively small overall size, resulting in attractive constructional configurations. <IMAGE>

Description

There are different wristwatches with two or more time zones. However, these watches are usually electronic watches with digital display. For mechanical wristwatches, on the other hand, the size, respectively the limited space, poses serious problems, if we want to display two different time zones at the same time. It is therefore the object of the present invention to produce a wristwatch with two time zones requiring only a small footprint, while allowing the use of calibers known per se. This object is achieved with a wristwatch described in the claims.

The invention will be described in detail with the aid of the appended drawing representing, by way of example, embodiments of the invention.
  • FIG. 1 schematically represents a top view of an embodiment of the invention,
  • FIG. 2 shows a side view of the watch according to FIG. 1,
  • fig. 3 and 4 show two alternative embodiments of the watch according to the invention.

On voit les différents rouages, les barillets 10 et 11 ainsi que les centres 12 et 13.Figure 1 shows a skeleton watch and we recognize two movements 1 and 2, each mounted on a plate 3 and 4 and all fixed by screws 5 to the housing 6 of oval shape. We still schematically recognize the two handles 7 for fixing a bracelet. We also recognize that movement 2, placed next to movement 1, is rotated 180 ° relative to the first movement, so that the two winding rods 8 and 9 are opposite one another. Movements 1 and 2 are movements, respectively commercial calibers and are not per se the subject of the present invention. We see the different cogs, barrels 10 and 11 as well as the centers 12 and 13.

It appears from FIG. 1 as well as from FIGS. 3 and 4 that the two plates 3 and 4, respectively 14 and 15 or 16 and 17, are cut in their part facing one another in the form of a zigzag, so that they s 'overlap one another, the cutting limit being given by the two wheels 18 and 19 being the outermost of the movement. This makes it possible, as can be seen in FIG. 1, to bring the two centers 12 and 13 closer to the movements so that the distance L between these two centers is smaller than the diameter D of the movements. In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, this ratio is approximately 0.7 to 1. In the case where these are not skeleton watches, the numerals 14, 15 and 16, 17 also denote the dials .

The execution according to FIG. 1 being a skeleton watch, the two glasses 20 and 21, for example made of sapphire, are glued to the case 6.

The housing, respectively its shape, is not linked to the oval shape according to the housing 6 shown in FIG. 1. It is for example possible to provide a housing 22 of polygonal shape according to FIG. 3 or a rectangular housing 23 according to the figure 4. In all cases, if we take identical movements, we arrive at the cutting of the plate in zigzag or Z shape. The arrangement of the movements, respectively the use of two identical movements is particularly advantageous for mechanical watches but the invention is not limited to these forms of execution. It is possible to provide two different movements which do not necessarily require turning one movement relative to the other by 180 °. In addition, the arrangement according to the invention can also be advantageous for electronic watches as well as for hybrid watches, either with a mechanical movement and an electronic movement.
