Timepiece simultaneously indicating civil time and sidereal time. The invention relates to a precision timepiece simultaneously indicating civil time and sidereal time and comprising two sets of hands each marking on a dial, one sidereal time, and the other time. civil, these sets of needles being controlled by means of a cog actuated by at least one motor ballet and the rate of which is regulated by a single exhaust with a regulating member, said cog comprising a set of auxiliary return wheels connecting between them by gear in the ratio very close to 1,002,13'76,24, two mo biles, one of which works according to the current time and the other according to the sidereal time.
The object of the invention is to achieve, with a very great approximation, the required gear ratio between the two sets of hands, according to the known and constant ratio of 1.002737624, between sidereal time - and civil time. The residual error is practically negligible.
To this end, the axis of the seconds wheel marking the civil time is connected by gear, to the axis of the seconds wheel, marking the sidereal time, by means of a set of return wheels with three intermediate axles, two of which each carry two return wheels.
To achieve the gear ratio with a very large approximation between the two sets of hands, the transmission ratio between the axes of the moving parts of seconds in civil time, and of seconds in sidereal time, can be obtained by means of two wheels driving wheels and two driven wheels forming part of the gear train connecting these two axes.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example and seen from behind, an on-board chronometer. The chronometer movement is housed in a case 3 and comprises two motor barrels 4, respectively 5, including the springs. can be cocked simultaneously using the winding stem 6 and an m6 = known canism. Depending on the direction that one impresses on the stem 6, the mechanism drives the winding ratchet 4 'or the winding ratchet 5'. The two barrels turn in the same direction of rotation, thanks to a reference 7 interposed between the ratchet 5 'and the crown wheel 8.
The barrel 4 drives the pinion 10 of an escape wheel 11, by means of three mobile finishing, as in a usual civil watch movement and comprising the pinion 12 and the wheel 13 of large average, the pinion 14 and the small medium 1.5 wheel, 16 pinion and 17 seconds wheel.
The escape wheel 11 cooperates with an anchor and the latter with the regulating balance 18.
The axis of the minute pinion 12 and the seconds pinion 16 axis drive a set of hands comprising an hour hand, a minute hand and a second hand 22 (second hand). These three wings move on a dial and mark civil time.
The usual setting is represented only by the timer reference 24, in which engages a time-setting reference 25 which can be controlled using the winding rod 26 for setting. hour hand and minute hand.
The setting of the second hand 22 can be effected by stopping the balance 18, using a pusher 27 actuating, for example, a whip mechanism (not shown) making it possible to stop and restart the balance.
The dial moves a second set of needles comprising an hour hand, a minute hand and a 22 'seconds hand (second hand). These three hands mark sidereal time, that is to say, they advance 3 minutes 56.6 sec. every day on the hands marking the civil time.
The second set of needles is actuated by the motor barrel 5 which drives the pinion 16 'of a second wheel 17', through the intermediary of the pinion 29 and of the high-mean wheel 30, of the pinion 31 and the small medium wheel 32. The minute mobile 29, 30 drives the minute hand and the hour hand as usual, using a frame of which only the timer 33 is shown. This reference 33 meshes with a time setting reference 34 which can be controlled by means of a rod 35 with a view to setting the time of the hands marking the sidereal time.
The seconds hand 22 ′ is driven with fatty friction by the axis of the second gear 16 ′, by means of a wheel 36 adjusted with fatty friction on said axis, so that the second can be oriented at will. seconds hand 22 ', that is to say, reset it to the fraction of a second, assigning it the angular position indicating the sidereal second corresponding to civil time. The sidelong time corresponding to any civil time which could be determined, for example, by means of calculation or with the aid of nautical Alma nachs.
For this purpose, the wheel 316 is connected to a second-setting mechanism controlled by a rod 37. This mechanism could be constructed like the time-setting mechanism of a watch. usual.
If the sets of hands marking the civil and sidereal hours are actuated by the motor bearings 4 and 5, the rate of these sets of hands is regulated by the single escapement and the regulating balance 18 of the chronometer. For this purpose, the seconds wheel 17, marking the calendar second, is connected by graining to the seconds wheel 17 'marking the sidereal second, by means of a set of return wheels 38, 39, 40, 41 and 42, wheels which are pivoted in a bar 43 and achieve with a very great approximation the required gear ratio between the two sets of hands, according to the known ratio and therefore very close to 1.002737624 between sidereal time and the civil time. The residual error is practically negligible.
The return wheels are distributed over three axes, the first of which carries the wheels 38 and 39, the second the wheels 40 and 41, the third wheel 42. The wheel 38 meshes with the seconds wheel 17, while the wheel 42 meshes with the 17 'seconds wheel.
In the example shown in the drawing, the required gear ratio has been obtained with a very great approximation, by means of the set of idler wheels described, the mo biles of which include the following numbers of teeth, from the gear wheel. seconds 17: 1st wheel 38: 70 teeth 2nd wheel 39: 79 teeth 3, me wheel 40: 82 teeth 4th wheel 41: 51 teeth 5th wheel 42: 70 teeth second wheels 17 and 17 'having respectively 70 and 49 teeth .
