Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a pulsometric watch, that is to say intended for the calculation of short times, less than a minute, and not requiring better accuracy than the second, of the type as defined in the preamble of claim 1 .
  • the aim of the present invention is to overcome these drawbacks, by proposing a watch with a seconds counting system (fifteen in the preferred variant) which is easy to implement, extremely fast, without any intervention other than observing the dial, and further offering two ways of calculating this time frame.
  • the system which is the subject of the invention uses, over 90 °, only a narrow strip at the periphery of the dial, so that attention is immediately focused on this functional area.
  • the eye should not scan the entire dial to find the point from which the measurement should start. This immediate focus of attention is conducive to speed and clarity, and guarantees increased security.
  • the rest of the dial can remain blank, or possibly receive decorations or indications.
  • the watch according to the invention comprises, in the preferred variant, a transparent disc 1 driven out on the axis usually reserved for the second hand, by means of a brass barrel 2.
  • the hour and minute hands are conventional.
  • This disc presents at its extreme periphery four indexes 3 of identical color or shape, spaced apart by 90 °, as well as four other indexes, of different color or shape from the first, but identical to each other: these four other indexes alternate with the first: the indexes therefore divide the disc into eight sectors of 45 °. In fact, and to better appreciate the essential characteristic of the invention, it is preferable to consider that this disc consists of eight sectors of 90 °, overlapping each other by 45 °.
  • This second series of indexes is arranged along a circumference with a diameter less than that of the first.
  • Figure 3 shows the watch with its single dial; the hatched part 6 is produced in a color such that the eight movable indexes 3 and 4 of the transparent disc stand out clearly there. Its dimension 7 places it in the path of all moving indexes. It covers an area of 90 ° between the "nine o'clock" position and the "noon" position.
  • Two fixed indexes 8 and 9 are placed respectively at the "ten o'clock" position and at the "eleven o'clock” position.
  • the rest of the dial that is to say a sector of 270 °, is covered with a dotted part 10 and a grid part 5.
  • the dotted part 10 covers the extreme periphery of the dial, so as to be only on the passage of the movable indexes 4, who are outside.
  • This dotted part 10 has the same color as the movable indexes 4.
  • the grid part 5 is the same color as the movable indexes 3.
  • the eye therefore perceives the indexes only when they pass through the hatched part 6, which has a different color. Since this hatched part covers a 90 ° sector, it can only contain two indexes, each of a different color. It is therefore hardly possible to be mistaken, the hatched sector never containing more than one index of the same series.
  • This second method has the advantage of a maximum waiting time of 2.5 seconds.
  • there is hardly any possibility of making a mistake since the memorization of a counting start marker is useless: it suffices to stare at an index of the dial and wait for the successive passage of two mobile indexes of the same color.
  • This device using identical colors for certain movable indexes and certain parts of the dial, in order to create the illusion of a disappearance of these indexes when they are superimposed on zones of the dial of the same color, constitutes the preferred variant.
  • FIG. 5 shows a dial, of uniform color, provided only with the two fixed indexes 8 and 9 of FIG. 3.
  • the glass represented alone in FIG. 4, has a 270 ° cover printed or attached around its periphery .
  • This cover is of an appropriate width and sufficient to cover the movable indexes 3 and 4.
  • This glass is mounted in a completely conventional manner on the housing 12.
  • Such an embodiment has the advantage of allowing the use of phosphorescent mobile indexes, instead of color indexes.
  • the indexes of one series should be given a shape or dimensions different from those of the indexes of the other series.
  • the counting period for a different period, for example 30 seconds. This can be done either by modifying the spacing of the movable indexes, or by modifying the angular magnitude of the sector 6, or by modifying these two parameters.
  • FIG. 6 shows, by way of example, a disc having two diametrically opposed indexes 14 and 15. It suffices to wait for the passage on a fixed mark of the dial of the two indexes 14 and 15 which are of the same color, of the same dimensions or the same shape. In this case, the counting time is 30 seconds.
  • FIG. 10 shows an example of a watch provided with a cover whose angular value determines a counting time of 20 seconds.
  • FIG. 11 A particular embodiment is shown in FIG. 11.
  • the cover 20 is independent of the glass 21 and of the dial 22.
  • the cover is integral with a toothed crown 23 meshed with a pinion 24, the l 'axis, which crosses the housing radially, carries at its end a notched crown 25 located outside, on the side of the housing, in the same way as a usual winding crown.
  • the rotation given to the notched crown drives the pinion and thus rotates the cover on the periphery of the dial.
  • FIG. 9 shows a disc having three differently colored sectors, in place of the indexes.
  • the transparent disc can be replaced by a series of needles having different aspects, but identical two by two, as shown in FIG. 8.
