Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method of producing a microwave transition between two hortogonal guided structures and a microwave circuit comprising such a transition.
- the present invention overcomes this drawback. It makes it possible to produce microwave circuits intended to operate in particular in the field of millimeter waves in which the horizontal guide vertical guide transitions are produced by cutting in the mass without the need to tilt the structures.
- the present invention therefore relates to a method of producing a microwave transition between two hortogonal guided structures, characterized in that it consists in cutting from the mass according to a first milling step, a section in the angle formed by a guide wall of a first structure and a guide wall of the structure orthogonal to this first structure without inclination of one of the structures.
- It also relates to a process for producing a microwave transition, characterized in that it consists in producing guide walls for millimeter waves, of widths and depths compatible with millimeter wavelengths.
- Figure 1 there is shown schematically a horizontal guided structure 2 and a vertical guided structure 1.
- the horizontal and vertical qualifiers which are used to simplify, refer to the planes in which the microwave wave propagates, but also to a arbitrary choice of the orientation of these structures with respect to a reference plane (for example the plane of the sheet on which FIG. 1 is represented).
- the vertical guided structure comprises a conductive plate in which is machined a rectangular opening 10 corresponding to a waveguide part with vertical walls.
- the machining is carried out by EDM by sinking.
- the horizontal guided structure comprises a conductive plate in which one or more grooves 20 in the form of troughs are machined.
- the grooves are machined in the mass, they have a horizontal wall 21 and two vertical walls 22,23. Machining is carried out by milling.
- the milling tool 100 moves horizontally to cut the groove 20.
- the cutter is controlled to move in a direction orthogonal to its initial direction. It therefore moves in the direction of the width L of the groove. There is thus a succession of back and forth movements of the milling tool so as to produce an angle in the form of stair treads.
- the stair steps form a section 30 between the horizontal wall 21 and the vertical wall portion 24.
- Figure 2 there is shown a first step of producing the panel in the horizontal structure, according to a variant of the method.
- the pan which is produced has a width less than the width L of the guide.
- the first step is to place the cutter to leave a rectangular corner 40 in the corner. For this, the cutter continues cutting on one of the edges 22 until the desired depth e is obtained. The cutter is then brought back in front of the corner and is moved hortogonally to the other edge 23. The cutter is moved along this edge until the desired depth e is obtained.
- FIG 3 there is shown the second step of making the pan according to a first variant.
- This second step consists in making stair treads by milling on the corner 40 so as to obtain a section 30 having the desired slope.
- the steps are carried out by successive round trip of the cutter on the corner 40.
- FIG. 4 there is shown a second alternative embodiment of the second step.
- the pan 30 is obtained by EDM by driving in the wedge 40 produced during the first step and shown in FIG. 2.
- the EDM consists in using an electrode 50 having the shape of the pan that the we want to achieve.
- the width 1 of the pan being less than the width L of the guide, there is therefore a wider clearance which facilitates the positioning of the electrode relative to the pan. Possible overflows in the vertical walls are avoided thanks to this characteristic.
- FIG. 5 a microwave circuit for millimeter waves has been represented, comprising several microwave functions.
- This circuit includes a plurality of orthogonal transitions produced according to the method of the invention.
- Each opening 10 in part 1 corresponds to a guide termination in part 2 in which a section according to FIG. 2 or 3 or 4 has been arranged.
- FIG 6 there is shown the detail of a pan 30 seen in section. Structures 1 and 2 are superimposed. The wave propagates in the guide formed by the trough groove of the structure 2 closed by the horizontal wall 11 of the structure 1.
- the invention therefore makes it possible, by performing a cutting by milling according to a first step, to produce a pan for which one proceeds either to a second milling step to cut stair treads or to an EDM by driving in to obtain a beveled slot in the milled corner.
- the cutter is controlled by a numerically controlled machine known per se.
- the device for controlling the EDM electrode is also known per se.
- the dimensions of the guides produced for such transitions are a few millimeters, that is to say according to a particular example 5.7 mm wide and 2.8 mm high.

Abstract
Description
- - la figure 1, représente un exemple de réalisation d'une transition hyperfréquence selon le procédé ;
- - la figure 2, représente une première étape de réalisation de la structure horizontale selon une variante du procédé ;
- - la figure 3, représente une deuxième étape de réalisation de la structure horizontale selon la variante du procédé ;
- - la figure 4, représente une deuxième étape de réalisation de la structure horizontale selon une autre variante du procédé ;
- - la figure 5, représente un circuit hyperfréquence dont les transitions sont réalisées selon le procédé de l'invention ;
