Abstract

1,018,173. Waveguide bends. MICROWA ASSOCIATES Inc. Nov. 20, 1962, No. 43947/62. Heading H1W. The outer boundary 13.2 of a waveguide H-plane or E-plane bend (not necessarily a 90 degrees bend) is curved to a constant radius about a point P lying on the bisector of the bend, this radius being such that the shortest transverse dimension X of the bend is equal to from 85 to 95% of the transverse dimension R 1 of the waveguides. The line 13.3 indicates a curved plane of constant radius R 1 . The bend may be matched to the waveguides by means of inductive irises extending along the intersections of the waveguide walls 11.2, 12.2 and the curved outer wall of the bend 13.2.
