Abstract

To strip enamel and remove other layers from surfaces, e.g. from the sides of ships, steel structural parts and building facades, ice particles, instead of sand blasting and in order to improve high-pressure water-jet cleaning, are added to the water jet striking the surface to be treated. The particles can be formed in the water jet by the addition of a freezing agent, or crushed supercooled broken ice is added to the water jet preferably by means of an injector. <IMAGE>
