Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a new type of material constituted by a multilayer textile complex produced from fibrous webs which can be used either as such, or as coating supports or reinforcements for reinforcing resin-based laminated articles, for waterproofing consisting of a support embedded in a composition of bitumen.
  • nonwoven / fabric complexes and / or to combine tablecloths based on different materials, for example a polyester nonwoven and a veil of glass fibers.
  • the needling operation makes it possible to implant the fibers of the plies, in particular glass fibers, throughout the thickness of the other ply consisting for example of a nonwoven polyester, so that the fibers of the first ply on which the action of the needles is exerted on each side of the other ply which therefore serves as a support. Consequently, in the completed complex, the external faces are both based on fibers of the same kind.
  • the fibers which provide the connection between the different layers are synthetic fibers re-oriented in the thickness direction of the multilayer complex, the re-orientation being carried out from such that it crosses the entire stack formed without however emerging outside the layer based on mineral fibers, so as not to alter the surface properties of the latter.
  • the ends of the synthetic fibers thus implanted will be flush with the surface of the sheet based on mineral fibers.
  • the material according to the invention can consist solely of nonwoven fibrous structures, of course, it could be associated with an internal reinforcing reinforcement, such as a woven or nonwoven textile grid, a sheet of foam, a felt, a film or any combination thereof.
  • an internal reinforcing reinforcement such as a woven or nonwoven textile grid, a sheet of foam, a felt, a film or any combination thereof.
  • the invention also relates to a method for obtaining such a complex, this method consisting in superimposing at least two nonwoven fibrous layers, produced by the dry route (carding in particular), one of these layers being made of synthetic fibers.
  • flexible, non-brittle, the other of relatively rigid and brittle mineral fibers the process according to the invention being characterized by the fact that the stack of sheets thus produced is subjected to the action of jets of fluids (air or water) acting on the materials superimposed on the surface of the web based on synthetic fibers, so as to re-orient part of the fibers in the thickness direction, the stack being, during the action of the jets, supported by a continuous, permeable surface, preventing the synthetic fibers from emerging outside the surface of the web based on mineral fibers.
  • any additional element such as for example a textile grid (woven or not), a fabric, a knitted fabric, a sheet of foam, these elements being interposed alone or in combination with each other depending on the desired results and all of the layers being connected together by synthetic fibers re-oriented in the thickness direction. It is obvious that these additional layers must be capable of being traversed by the jets of fluid.
  • a form in which water jets are used as fluid jets it is advantageous before subjecting the superimposed materials to the fraction of said jets, to compress them , preferably by moistening them so that the operation is carried out by having a stack having the smallest possible thickness relative to the number of layers entering into its composition.
  • the new materials in accordance with the invention have very many advantages over previous multilayer materials, in that the flexible synthetic fibers (polyester for example) which penetrate through the web based on stiff fibers (glass), allow '' obtain a single composite material of small thickness and devoid of any contribution of glue, allowing many uses such as for example reinforcement of roofing membranes, laminated structures based on resin.
  • the fibrous hooks obtained by the penetration of the jets on the veil made of synthetic fibers through the layer of veil made of mineral fibers, making it possible to obtain a laminated composite without adhesive, facilitating the penetration of bitumen, resin ..
  • the mineral fibers (glass) being arranged on one side of the complex, this makes it possible to produce finished products (for example bituminous coatings) meeting the characteristics required for fire-fighting problems.
  • the sheet based on mineral fibers consists of glass fibers
  • the fibers of this sheet which are intimately linked to the synthetic fiber (polyester) have advantageous strength properties. at tensile rupture, thermal dimensional stability, resistance to wear, deterioration such that they may be due for example to ultraviolet rays.
  • FIG. 1 illustrates in general, in exploded perspective, the structure of the material according to the invention which consists of fibrous sheets (1, 2) having different characteristics, these plies being linked together by entanglement of the fibers (3) of one of the plies (1) through the second (2).
  • one of the plies, (1) in the present case is based on flexible synthetic fibers, not brittle while the other ply (2) is, in turn, based on relatively mineral fibers.
  • rigid and brittle such as for example glass fibers, asbestos, carbon, etc.
  • the overlapping plies (1) and (2) are, in accordance with the invention, brought below the nozzles (6) by means of a conveyor belt (7) making it possible to keep them flat during the operation of intermingling.
  • the ply on which the fluid jets are directly exerted is the ply (1) made of synthetic fibers while the ply (2) is, for its part, held on the support mat (7).
  • the upper surface (4) of the ply (1) has small perforations which are practically invisible due to the orientation of the fibers and which are distributed at random, this upper surface naturally being made up only of synthetic fibers, the surface (5) of the sheet based on mineral fibers retaining, for its part, its original properties, for example its fire-resistant characteristics in the case where the fibers of the sheet (2) are glass-based.
  • the material according to the invention can consist only of fibrous sheets thus linked together, it is however preferable, in particular in order to communicate to the complex mechanical strength characteristics in traction both in the long direction and in the transverse direction, d '' incorporate between the two layers (1, 2) an additional reinforcement (9) constituted for example by a textile grid (woven or not), a fabric, a knitted fabric .. based on a material which can be either identical to l 'one of the materials constituting the sheets (1, 2) is different.
  • the structure of this additional reinforcement must be such that the fibers (3) of the ply (1) which are re-oriented can pass through it under the action of the jets of fluid (6).
  • the two plies (1, 2) are superimposed and brought to an installation of the type illustrated in FIG. 2, so that the ply (1) is located opposite the jets of fluid (6).
  • the complex formed is preferably subjected to the faction of means (10) (not shown in FIG. 2) making it possible to compress it and, in the case where the fluid jets are jets of water, moisten the tablecloths thus compressed.
  • the pressure of the fluid jets will be variable as a function of the thickness of the number of superimposed layers, this pressure generally being between 30 and 150 bars and, in the present case, of the order of 70 bars.
  • Such a material can be used in numerous applications and in particular as a coating support, for example for producing a reinforcement of bitumen chappe.
  • Example 1 is repeated, but a grid (9) is interposed between the two layers (1, 2), based on glass threads (silione) comprising four threads and four wefts per centimeter, each thread having a title of 51 Tex .
  • This grid weighs 50 g / m2.
  • Such a material is particularly suitable for being used as a bitumen support making it possible to produce a single-layer waterproofing coating in order to obtain a coating having excellent characteristics of dimensional stability, resistance to static and dynamic puncturing.
  • the material described above can be easily stored and handled. Furthermore, the properties of each of the layers are preserved, which is particularly advantageous when it is desired, for example to obtain a fire-resistant face and the other insulating face. In addition, the intermingling operation obviously causes channels inside the complex which promote the penetration of resins, bitumens, or any other material that one would like to associate with such a complex.
  • each of the layers (1, 2) consisted of the same type of fibers, it could be envisaged to include in these layers various additives or to mix them with other fibers .
  • various additives or to mix them For example, one could incorporate inside the sheet based on thermoplastic fibers hot-melt fibers whose properties could be revealed later, fibers capable of curling or revealing other properties, allowing better cohesion (fibers bimetallic strips for example).
