Claims (7)

  1. An adapter comprising a housing (1) for connecting gas-discharge lamps or low voltage incandescent lamps to supply tracks of substantially U-shaped cross-section, inside which live conductors are arranged, and the housing (1) has a first portion (2) which in functional use projects into the interior of the track, and which has adjustable locking elements (4) for fixing the adapter to the supply track and also adjustable, electrically conductive contact lugs (5) for the electrical connection of the load, and also has a second portion (3) situated outside the supply track comprising an adjusting lever (6) for operating the locking elements (4) and/or the contact lugs (5), and the gas-discharge lamp is directly or indirectly connected to this second portion (3), characterised in that an electronic ballast and/or an electronic transformer is provided inside the housing (1) and the circuit elements (11, 12, 13, 14) constituting the ballast or the transformer, such as coils, capacitors, resistors, transistors and the like, are arranged on at least one printed circuit board.
  2. An adapter according to claim 1, characterised in that two printed circuit boards (15, 16) are provided, one printed circuit board (16) extending close to the base (7) of the housing (1) and substantially parallel thereto, and the other printed circuit board (15) being arranged at right angles to it and extending into the first portion (2) of the housing (1), and the printed circuit boards being arranged in a T-shape in relation to one another, viewed in the axial direction of the housing (1).
  3. An adapter according to claim 1, characterised in that at least one of the printed circuit boards (15) has contact elements (22) on one end surface or on the edge which are in electrically conductive plug and socket connection with corresponding contact elements (20, 21) in the housing (1).
  4. An adapter according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the housing (1) is divided into at least two parts and the plane of division is at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the housing (1), the adjustable locking elements (4) and the adjustable electrical contact lugs (5) being arranged in one housing part and the printed circuit boards (15, 16) being held by the other housing part.
  5. An adapter according to claim 4, characterised in that guides (17, 18) in the form of grooves or slots are provided in the interior of the housing, namely in the region close to the base, and/or in the upper portion (2) to hold the edges of the printed circuit board (15, 16).
  6. An adapter according to claim 2, characterised in that the printed circuit board (16) situated close to the base is arranged in the lower or second portion (3) of the housing (1) and the width of this lower portion (3) is greater than the width of the upper portion (2), for instance twice its size.
  7. An adapter according to claim 1, characterised in that, if the circuit elements constituting the transformer or ballasts are arranged on a single printed circuit board, this printed circuit board is installed upright in the housing (1).
