Description

The invention relates to a pad printing device for transferring defined amounts of printing medium per unit area and the use thereof.

Pad printing processes have been known since 1968 and are also suitable for printing on uneven surfaces to which flexible tampons that transfer the printing medium adapt. A pad printer is described, for example, in DE-OS 19 39 437. The picture element to be printed is deeply etched in a cliché, the printing form. The printing medium is transferred into this cliché, after a squeegee process which doses the printing medium which has been taken up in the cliché, the printing medium remaining in the cliché is completely absorbed by the tampon and transferred to the object to be printed. An overview of the applications and properties of the pad printing process can be found in the brochure of the company TAMPOPRINT GMbH, Daimlerstrasse 27/1 in Korntal-Münchingen, to which reference is made in full to avoid repetitions.

Pad printers are very advantageous due to their small space requirement, since they can be easily integrated into production lines and also encapsulated, which is important for the protection of operating personnel but also for reducing the evaporation rate when processing highly effective or toxic printing media, such as medicinal etching inks, polymerization starters or the like volatile substances is helpful.

So far no attempt has been made to use pad printers for the delivery of precisely controlled quantities of printing medium; Surprisingly, it has been shown that the already known tampon printing process enables precise metering of grammages up to 26 g / m 2 in one printing process with a variance of ± 2% and below.

It is possible, as stated in DE-A-37 27 237 "Process for the preparation of a dosage form and / or dosage form for pharmaceutical active substances by means of a printing process" with the same filing date of the applicant, even highly sensitive medicinal products or control membranes for active substance deliveries with a constant weight per unit area apply appropriate substrates.

When using the previously known means, namely variation of the tampon material (more pressure medium is transferred in the case of softer tampons) and viscosity of the pressure medium, only a slightly increased, still constant amount of pressure medium could be delivered to a substrate; however, this amount was not sufficient for a coating with higher basis weights, such as over 100 g / m2, so that the pad printing process was unsuitable for applications such as the production of thicker layers of materials in a predetermined pattern, despite excellent properties - so far there has been no interest in the Apply layers using this procedure.

Elaborate screen printing processes were used or complicated multi-step application processes were used.

From CH-A-259 879 it is known printing blankets for use in stuff printing for better distribution of the color with a system of small parallel channels in the longitudinal direction and thereby improve the color distribution. It is stated there that the grooves must be large enough to absorb the color well and distribute them easily. However, the surface enlargement of a printing blanket proposed there does not serve to transfer larger amounts of color, but rather to ensure a regular distribution of the color on the printing blanket and a satisfactory print quality over the entire image.

It is therefore an object of the invention to further develop the known device in such a way that even larger amounts of printing medium than possible with conventional tampons are transferred to a substrate.

The object was achieved according to the invention by a generic device in that at least the pressure contact area of the total surface of the tampon is increased while maintaining essentially the same outer shape and shape volume.

The surface enlargement can consist, for example, of rastering, roughening, creasing or nubbing of the tampon surface and can be produced in a suitable shape by machining a finished tampon body or by producing the enlarged tampon surface when the tampon body is formed.

Compared to the conventional tampons with a smooth surface, such tampons are suitable for transferring more than three times the amount of print medium that has previously been transferable with the same shape.

The further development of the known pad printers according to the invention makes it possible for the first time to use these machines or the method advantageously in completely new fields of application for the production of coatings. It is, for example, in the production of signs with a thicker application of paint, integrated circuits, where photoresists or conductor material can be printed; for the targeted application of polymerization initiators to prepolymers, for the application of etching liquids for the production of etching patterns, for the transfer of porcelain colors, the production of pharmaceutical dosage forms and / or dosage forms, such as tablets, dermally applicable systems, whereby systems which are to be understood as Gives off mucous membranes, i.e. rectal and vaginal forms of use, applicable.

A particularly preferred application is found in the production of patch-like transdermal therapeutic systems.

The invention unexpectedly increases the amount of printing medium dispensed in a printing process and still achieves a surprising dosage that remains the same within narrow limits.

The device according to the invention can now be used for the first time to produce active substance-containing printing media, small doses of active substance without loss of active substance, as was the case in the surface coating processes used hitherto, for example for transdermal therapeutic systems, thereby saving expensive active substance and avoiding the problematic removal of active substance waste can.

It is now also possible to apply several printing media such as several colors, inks and glue, glue and an aseptic or active substance-containing area in plasters or therapeutic systems at the same time and spatially separated from each other in one manufacturing step by using suitable clichés, thereby saving one manufacturing step. The cliché as well as the tampon itself can be tempered if temperature-sensitive materials or materials that can only be processed when heated, such as certain adhesives, are to be processed. In the same way, it is possible to cool this as well as the entire device if temperature-sensitive materials are processed.

By choosing a suitable tampon material, the various requirements can be taken into account, so all rubber-elastic materials familiar to the person skilled in the art, such as natural and synthetic rubber and in particular silicone rubber, are suitable, which have the required properties, such as machinability, solvent resistance, thermal resistance or sufficient elasticity low temperatures can be selected.

The tampon shape can be selected according to the substrate to be processed; all common shapes, both frustoconical and flat or egg-shaped tampons with an enlarged printing surface, can be used.

With a printing process, a basis weight of about 200 g per square meter of printing medium and more can be transferred by the device according to the invention, a further improvement in the transfer quantity can be achieved by improvements in the process familiar to the person skilled in the art, such as the use of softer tampons, other printing media and the like. to reach.

In Fig. 1, the application of a print medium layer with a tampon 20 designed according to the invention on a flat substrate 22 is shown schematically. An elastic egg-shaped silicone rubber tampon 20 with a pressure medium coating is placed on the surface area with a raised surface 23, which he removed in the preceding working step of the device from the recess of a cliché 24 shaped according to the desired pattern of the application of the pressure medium (see FIG. 2), pressed on the flat substrate 22, on which it leaves a uniform pressure medium layer thickness after lifting the tampon 20. In the same way, it is possible to print on uneven substrates, for example round substrates or corrugated substrate surfaces, as well as dishes, etc.

Die aufgenommene Menge Druckmedium wird beim Verfahren durch die Ätztiefe und -form des Klischees 24 bestimmt, von dem das Druckmedium vollständig abgehoben wird, nachdem es durch einen Rakelvorgang in gleichmäßiger Schichtdicke auf dem Klischee vorgelegt wurde und in dieser Form abgenommen und übertragen wird.FIG. 3 shows a preferred embodiment of an egg-shaped tampon 20 according to the invention, on the upper region 23 of which is used for the transfer of pressure medium, groove-like depressions are formed as an enlargement of the surface, through which the absorption and transfer of larger quantities of pressure medium is possible. The amount of printing medium absorbed in the process is determined by the etching depth and shape of the plate 24, from which the printing medium is completely lifted off after it has been placed on the plate in a uniform layer thickness by a doctor blade process and is removed and transferred in this form.

Übertragungsfläche des Tampons sind hier zur Oberflächenvergrößerung Näpfchen ausgebildet, die ebenfalls der Aufnahme erhöhter Mengen Druckmedium dienen.4 shows a further preferred embodiment of the tampon 20, which here is essentially roller-shaped. Cups are formed on the application or transfer surface of the tampon to increase the surface area, which are also used to hold increased amounts of pressure medium.

This can be done, for example, by uniformly printing a ring-like, active ingredient-impermeable acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 16 onto a cover film 15, here siliconized paper, which is peeled off before use of the plaster, and a circular control layer 18, which, due to its constant thickness and its chemical-physical properties, ensures the passage of matter controls and subsequent printing of an active substance-containing reservoir layer 14 by means of a tampon printing device according to the invention and subsequent lamination with an impermeable backing layer, here an aluminum-polyester laminate 10. Both the control layer 18, its properties can only be ensured if the thickness is constant, and also the active substance layer 14, the active substance content of which can also be obtained in a form suitable for pharmaceutical applications only with a high thickness and area constancy of the applied layer, can be applied by the device according to the invention.

In Fig. 6, a plaster as shown in Fig. 5 before application of the backing layer 10 is shown, here a plaster with two active ingredients, 14 and 14 'is present. This embodiment can also be produced with a single active substance application step using the tampon printer according to the invention, the active substance-impermeable PSA ring 16 being visible again here.

In Fig.7 ist eine weitere mittels der erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung herstellbare pharmakologische Darreichungsform, ein zuckerummanteltes Dragee 30 miteinem zweischichtigen Kern 34,36, der durch Aufdrucken der Schicht 36 auf eine kreisförmige Unterlage 34 ohne Abfall des Unterlagenmaterials 34 oder der Druckschicht 36 hergestellt werden kann, dargestellt.7 shows a further pharmacological dosage form that can be produced by the device according to the invention, a sugar-coated dragee 30 with a two-layer core 34, 36, which can be produced by printing the layer 36 onto a circular base 34 without waste of the base material 34 or the printing layer 36, shown.

Further configurations, combinations and uses of the device according to the invention are possible within the knowledge familiar to the person skilled in the art and are within the scope of the claims.
