Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a watch comprising a case made in one piece and equipped with a crystal mounted waterproof on the case, a cap at least partially covering said watch and a bracelet comprising two half-straps fixed on either side. other of the case by means of axes around which the half-bracelets can pivot.
  • Patent CH-A-558,040 describes a watch case comprising a protective cap made of extra hard material.
  • the cap is held in place by screws perpendicular to the plane of the case, passing through the middle of the bezel and taking in threaded studs attached under the cap.
  • the cap has a fairly complicated cross section due to the presence of tapped studs.
  • the middle-bezel must be made in a special shape to be adapted to the cap which surmounts it.
  • Patent CH-A-517,963 (US-A-3,242,664) describes a watch case coated with a metal carbide cap made of an annular part surrounding the crystal and two diametrically opposed ears covering the attachment horns of 'a bracelet. The annular part and the ears are brazed respectively on the box and on the horns. This construction requires special tools to fix the cap on the watch case and it will be observed that once the cap has been fixed, the latter is non-removable at least using simple tools.
  • the housing described in US-A-4 396 298 contains an electronic module for displaying the time.
  • This housing has a bottom, an elastic part interposed between the bottom and the module and a cover.
  • Elastic bars engaged in bottom flanges hold the module in the bottom of the box. The same bars are used to fix the cover on the bottom.
  • the bracelet is attached to the box by means of ears lifted at the bottom. This construction is complicated and requires several folded and stamped parts.
  • the lid is not strictly speaking a cap, but rather a constituent part of the box.
  • Document DE-C-1 099 773 describes an interchangeable bezel suitable for a wristwatch.
  • the bezel is held on the watch using a one-piece bracelet.
  • the strap enters a first opening in the bezel, then passes between a first bar carried by a first pair of horns from the watch case and the middle of the latter, runs along the bottom of the case, again passes between a second worn bar. by a second pair of horns from the watch case and the middle part of said box and emerges from the bezel through a second orifice made in said bezel.
  • the bars are not used to attach the bezel to the box.
  • the proposed construction is complicated and heavy and considerably modifies the appearance of the original watch case.
  • Document FR-A-1 092 554 above all proposes a clasp for a bracelet made of a single band, a clasp combined with the watch case.
  • the watch case is pivotally mounted relative to the bezel frame by means of a hinge, said hinge in no way serving to attach the strap to the case.
  • the timepiece shown in document FR-A-2 329 002 has a kind of bezel which is an integral part of the watch case and contributes to its water resistance and not an interchangeable cap covering a case made of one piece as this is the case in the present invention.
  • Watch 1 of FIG. 1 essentially comprises a case 2 containing a device for displaying the time, a crystal 3 revealing hands 4, a cap 5 capable of at least partially covering the watch and a bracelet formed here of two half-bracelets 6 and 7 capable of being fixed to the case by fixing means 8 and 18.
  • FIG. 1 immediately shows that the fixing means 8 and 18 which respectively connect the half-bracelets 6 and 7 to the case serve jointly of means for fixing the cover 5 to the housing 2.
  • the case 2 comprises two pairs of horns 9 and 10 between which the half-bracelets 6 and 7 are hinged respectively.
  • the half-bracelet 6 is articulated around a threaded axis 8 in first holes 11 and 12 made in the horns 9.
  • the half-bracelet 7 is articulated in the same way between the horns 10 provided with the holes 19 and 20.
  • Figure 1 also shows that the cap 5 has two pairs of ears 13 and 14.
  • the pair of ears 13 is provided with second holes 15 and 16 which are also crossed by the axis 8. It is the same for the pair of ears 14 which are provided with holes 21 and 22.
  • the pin 8 is used both for fixing the half-bracelet 6 on the case 2 and for fixing the cap 5 on the said case 2.
  • the pin 18 plays the same role for the half-bracelet located on the opposite side of the watch.
  • FIG. 2 which is a section along line II-II of FIG. 1 assuming all the parts assembled, shows the horns 9 carried by the housing 2 and the first bores 11 and 12 made in the horns 9.
  • the housing 2 and the horns 9 are surrounded by the cap 5 from which appears the pair of ears 13 provided with second holes 15 and 16.
  • the pin 8 which is threaded in the horns 9 of the housing maintains both the cap 5 and the half-bracelet 6 secured to said case.
  • the axes 8 and 18 can be pins driven into the first holes 11, 12 and 19, 20.
  • Figure 2 shows that the pin 8 emerges from the horns 9 to penetrate into the second holes 15 and 16 of the ears.
  • the ears 13 cover the outer walls of the horns 9.
  • other solutions could be envisaged, for example that which would consist in placing the ears 13 on the inner walls of the horns 9.
  • the axis 8 instead of being a driven pin, could be a spring bar.
  • the second holes 15 and 16 should be adapted to the diameter of the pivots of such a bar, that is to say be of a diameter smaller than the diameter of the first holes 11 and 12.
  • the cover 5 which is presented in FIG. 2 surrounds the crystal 3 and extends to the bottom of the vertical edge of the housing 2.
  • the vertical part of the cover could be made to abut against flanges which would be made in the lower periphery of the housing. This arrangement would give a better seat to the cap, just as it could be advantageous for purely aesthetic reasons.
  • the cap 5 can be made of any material, such as plastic, metal or even ceramic. If the cap has a fairly thin thickness, 0.3 mm to give a figure, it could dress an aesthetically shaped case known for its commercial success, without having to touch this shape, the aim being to give the impression that the watch is made of a different material from that originally known.
  • the Swatch watch registered trademark
  • the Swatch watch known worldwide for its particular shape and its very low price, could constitute the basic case defined in the present invention, case which would be coated with a cap giving this watch an aesthetic appearance. new without changing its deemed form and without significantly modifying its selling price.
  • a gold or gold metal cap would change its aesthetic appearance by giving the impression that the watch is made of metal and that without changing anything in its shape.
  • the cap is placed on the case, a half-bracelet is presented between one of the pairs of horns, the pin is threaded into the first and second holes which are provided respectively with the horns and the ears and the same operations are repeated for the other half bracelet.
  • the cap presented in FIG. 1 shows an opening 25 which surrounds the glass 3. Without it being necessary to illustrate it, it will be understood that this opening could include a protective grid which would have the aim of protecting the ice.
  • This grid with large meshes, could be stamped at the same time as the cap itself is stamped.
  • the center of the grid could also include a patch, round or shaped, on which a mark could appear.
