Definitions
- the present invention relates to a bracelet comprising a plurality of links hinged together following the others through bars cylindrical interposed between the links, the links and the bars being held together by at least one link flexible which crosses holes made in these links and these bars in the longitudinal direction of the bracelet.
- a link tying together the links of a bracelet via cylindrical bars interspersed between the links is known from the model utility DE-G-85 34 115.0.
- This document describes a watch bracelet made up of concave links in their sides and transversely drilled. This bracelet is still composed of bars with circular section fitting into the concave sides of said links. A cable crosses holes in these links and bars for hold together.
- This document does not mention or suggests that the links making up the bracelet can be made of mineral material as we will see in the present invention.
- Document CH-A-675 669 describes a bracelet watch with articulated links in material composite or mineral.
- the bracelet has links bracelet linked together by connecting elements mounted pivoting at each end on mounted axes in the bracelet links.
- the ends of the elements are arranged inside an opening central practiced in each of the links of the bracelet.
- the ends of the connecting elements have a semi-circumference shape and the top faces and lower have concavities.
- the horizontal-lower face of the central rectangular opening has on either side of the clearance radii.
- the bracelet of the invention constituted according to the first paragraph of this text is it made of links in mineral material whose hardness is equal to or greater than 7.5 Mohs and strips made of softer material than the one from which the links are made.
- FIGs 1 and 2 show, the first in plan and the second in perspective, a portion 6 of the bracelet according to the invention.
- This bracelet consists of a plurality of 8 links articulated one after the other by through cylindrical bars 9.
- the links 8 and the bars 9 are held together by means of two flexible links 10.
- the links 10 can be used, on one side of the bracelet portion 6, to attach the latter to a watch case and the other side of said portion, to attach the bracelet to a terminal link provided with means for mooring the link 10, this attachable end link, where to be part of a clasp.
- the flexible links 10 pass through holes 13, 15 formed in the links 8 and holes 14, 16 formed in the cylindrical bars 9.
- the holes 13 and 14 are arranged in a row, as are the holes 15 and 16.
- the invention is remarkable in particular in that the 8 links making up the bracelet defined in the paragraph above are made of mineral material whose hardness is equal to or greater than 7.5 Mohs.
- the Mohs hardness scale mainly used in jewelry, ranges from 1 (talc) to 10 (diamond). Hardness is measured by possible scratch made by different bodies of staggered hardness which serve as a standard. Hardness 7.5 is located between that of quartz which is 7 and that of the topaz which is 8.
- mineral material materials hard whether natural or artificial.
- the hardness of 7.5 Mohs considered here for the material constituting the link is essential.
- One of the goals that the present invention aims to provide is a bracelet said scratchproof by materials like quartz or hardness equal (7 Mohs) or less than that of quartz. This limit is understandable if we know that the dust common may contain quartz and may therefore rapidly alter the smooth and shiny appearance that the bracelet at the end of manufacture, if it does not have not harder than quartz.
- the bracelet in question here has a alternation of 8 very hard links and bars cylindrical 9, these bars allowing articulation links one after the other.
- the flanks of the links then being shaped to articulate directly on top of each other, as described for example in document CH-A-467 598 where the links are directly articulated by fitting grooves and bosses carried on the sides of the links.
- Such a provision is however unthinkable since we uses hard mineral material to make the links. Indeed, the friction of a link on the other sooner or later will cause the chipping and destemming of links.
- two the hard links of the present invention are separated one on the other by a cylindrical bar to isolate them between them.
- This bar is made of a lot of material softer than the material used to make the link. Preferably use a plastic material.
- the cylindrical bar 9 is shown in perspective in FIG. 6 and in longitudinal section in FIG. 7. As shown in the figures, the bar 9 is pierced diametrically of two holes 14 and 16 through which passes the link 10 shown in Figure 2. We will use the same bar 9 whatever the execution mode of the link, two of these embodiments being described below.
- a first embodiment of the link 8 is shown in figure 3, 4 and 5.
- the link is made of a single room. It is drilled substantially at mid-height B ( Figures 4 and 5) and in the longitudinal direction C of the bracelet, two holes 13 and 15 which will each be crossed by a link flexible 10 once the bracelet is fitted.
- the figures show still that the flanks B of the link 8 are provided with concavities of radius R1, concavities dimensioned for receive a cylindrical bar 9 of the same radius R1 (see figure 7).
- Figure 5 also shows that the link 8 is with slight chamfers on the top and bias 32 and 33 on the bottom. If the chamfers have a decorative purpose, the bias 32 and 33 allow the bracelet to be folded towards the bottom and its wrapping around the wrist.
- the operations machining of the link can be done using tools diamonds given the high hardness of the material to be machined.
- holes 13 and 15 could be drilled by laser or ultrasound.
- FIG. 8 to 16 A second embodiment of the link 8 is shown Figures 8 to 16.
- the link is made in two parts, more specifically two plates 40 and 41 superimposed, of substantially equal height and extending in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction bracelet 6, as shown in Figures 8, 9 and 10.
- the upper plate 40 is detailed in the figures 11, 12 and 13 and the lower plate 41 is detailed Figures 14, 15 and 16.
- the underside 42 of the upper plate 40 and upper face 43 of the lower plate 41 are glued one against the other to give the final link 8 shown in Figures 8, 9 and 10.
- the lower 42 and upper 43 faces defined more top each have two referenced grooves 44, 45, and 46, 47 respectively.
- This second embodiment of link 8 in two parts is interesting because it removes the compulsory drilling operation in the first mode, this operation being replaced by an operation of grinding easier to implement.
- This second embodiment presents another advantage, capital in the eyes of the depositor: the one who consists of covering with a thin layer metallization both the lower 42 and upper 43 faces of the upper 40 and lower 41 pads, as well as gorges 44, 45 and 46, 47 which are practiced there.
- the figures 12 and 13 show a metallization 70 which covers the lower face 42 of the upper plate 40, thus than grooves 44 and 45.
- Figures 15 and 16 show a metallization 71 which covers the face upper 43 of the lower plate 41, as well as the grooves 46 and 47. It will be noted that in the figures the thickness of these metallizations 70 and 71 has been greatly exaggerated for obvious reasons of understanding.
- the advantage of metallization is to give the link a colored appearance, for example black if using black chrome, this aspect remains unalterable, because the metallic faces, once glued together are protected from any external damage (wear, scratching, etc.).
- the colored aspect is doubled a shiny appearance since the link is made of very hard and transparent mineral material (e.g. transparent artificial sapphire).
- Yet another benefit of metallization is to hide from the links 10 which pass in the gorges 44, 45 and 46, 47, since these grooves are also metallized.
- Another advantage of metallization is to present a bonding layer for the glue to join the two together platelets. Note that the thin layer metallization can be executed by PVD or CVD process. In summary, the link thus obtained has a beautiful shiny appearance and colored, this aspect remaining unalterable over time.
- link 8 executed according to the second mode we will call, as for link 8 executed according to the first mode, to a traditional tool comprising diamond drills, grinders or saws.
