Definitions
- the invention relates to a padded belt, in particular for load absorption on the human body, consisting of a textile fabric hose for load absorption and a cushioning material accommodated in the interior of the fabric hose.
- Padded straps of this type are used, for example, in the manufacture of climbing belts for mountaineers or of carrying belts for backpacks or the like.
- the straps are used to transmit a load to the human body, taking particular care that the load is introduced into the human body without local load peaks. This applies in particular to climbing belts to prevent injuries in the event of a fall. But even with backpack risers, a flat load transfer is required to avoid pressure or chafing and to ensure a high level of comfort.
- Another example use of such padded straps can be found in the manufacture of saddle straps for pack animals, such as horses.
- Conventional padded straps of this type consist of a one-piece woven tubular fabric which is cut into corresponding pieces for the production of carrying straps for backpacks or climbing belts, into which a cushioning material in the form of foam strips of rectangular cross section is drawn. In practice, this pulling-in is carried out either by hand or using mechanical auxiliary devices. After inserting the foam pieces, the ends of the pieces of tubular fabric are sewn into risers or climbing belts in the desired manner. Regardless of whether the filling material is drawn in by hand or with the help of a machine, the production is therefore labor-intensive and costly.
- the foam inserts are rectangular in cross section. Since they are for Unfolding the desired cushioning effect from not too soft material, the edges of the rectangular cross-section tend to cause chafing despite the elasticity of the material.
- the foams that are suitable for use are not very resistant to aging and crumble quickly in long-term use. In particular, this undesirable phenomenon occurs due to the influence of the skin sweat of the user, whereby it must be taken into account that, in the intended applications, the straps are often worn on bare skin or on only thin clothing and during athletic exertion with appropriate perspiration. The influence of the sun's ultraviolet radiation also appears to accelerate this aging process.
- the object on which the invention is based is therefore to create a padded belt of the type mentioned at the outset, which ensures increased wearing comfort with simple, inexpensive manufacture.
- this object is achieved in the case of a padded belt of the type mentioned at the outset in that the cushioning material consists of crimped yarn arranged in the interior in the longitudinal direction of the warp threads of the fabric tube.
- This configuration ensures that the belt adapts optimally to the anatomical conditions of the human body without pressure points. It is particularly advantageous that the load to be transmitted is taken up exclusively by the outer fabric hose, which has little expansion in relation to the filler material, so that the filler material is not subjected to loads in the longitudinal direction, and therefore is not stretched in the longitudinal direction, so that the individual strands of the crimped yarn are not are stretched and their voluminous bulk is retained even under load. Because of the ripple of the one individual strands of the filling material brace each other in the transverse direction so that they cannot slip inside the fabric hose and the flat cushioning effect is retained even in long-term use.
- the crimped yarn representing the cushioning material is loosely accommodated in the interior thereof without being connected to the fabric tube. Because of the voluminous bulk and crimping of the individual yarn strands, a shift and agglomeration in the transverse direction is also avoided.
- the crimped yarn is a textured synthetic fiber yarn with voluminous bulk like a textured polyester continuous yarn.
- a material is not only very dimensionally stable in terms of bulk, but is also distinguished by sweat resistance and aging resistance.
- the fabric hose consists of an upper fabric layer and a lower fabric layer of different material properties.
- the upper fabric layer preferably consists of a weather-resistant material with high tensile strength and elongation at break, such as a polyamide yarn.
- This upper fabric layer is primarily responsible for the load absorption. In use, it is arranged on the side away from the body and also ensures the necessary weather resistance and insensitivity to UV radiation.
- the lower fabric layer is preferably made of a breathable, skin-friendly material, such as polyester spun yarn, Cotton-polyester mixed yarn, PVC or polypropylene yarn.
- the underside is intended to rest on the human body.
- the preferred materials have wearing properties that are very close to or even exceed those of natural fibers such as cotton in terms of skin friendliness and breathability.
- the fabric tube is woven in one piece in a weaving machine, for example a ribbon loom, and that a multitude of yarn strands of the crimped yarn are fed as warp threads and without interweaving with the weft - And warp threads of the fabric hose is loosely drawn into the interior.
- a padded belt is made of fabric hose and cushioning material in a single operation.
- the work steps of laboriously pulling in pieces of the cushioning material as in the prior art are eliminated.
- the belt emerging from the weaving machine according to the invention can be cut into pieces for further processing and assembly, for example to form climbing belts or shoulder straps for backpacks. To sew the ends of these pieces, if necessary, either part of the filler material can be cut out or simply pushed back into the interior of the belt so that the ends can be sewn in the desired manner without a cushioning intermediate layer. It is therefore not necessary to subsequently cut and pull in additional elements.
- the exemplary embodiment of the padded belt shown comprises a cross-sectionally oval fabric tube made of an upper fabric layer 2 and a lower fabric layer 3, which can be made of different materials.
- the upper fabric layer 2 can be monochrome or patterned several times, for example woven with colored longitudinal stripes or provided with woven-in or printed symbols.
- the material of the upper fabric layer 2 consists, for example, of a weather-resistant polyamide yarn with high tensile strength and elongation at break.
- the lower fabric layer 3, which is intended to rest on the body of the user consists for example of a polyester spun yarn, a cotton-polyester blend yarn or a PVC or polypropylene yarn.
- the upper fabric layer 2 and the lower fabric layer 3 are woven together in one piece in the manufacture of the fabric hose using the different materials as warp and weft threads.
- the interior of the fabric tube 1 is filled with crimped yarn 10, the individual strands 11 of which extend in the direction 20 of the warp threads of the fabric tube in the longitudinal direction thereof.
- the individual strands 11 of the crimped yarn are neither connected to one another nor to the warp or weft threads of the fabric tube. They are loosely accommodated in the interior of the fabric hose 1, but cannot move relative to one another because of their voluminous bulk, so that the cushion shape of the belt is maintained during use.
- the crimped yarn 10 is a textured synthetic fiber yarn with voluminous bulk, for example a textured polyester continuous yarn.
- the padded belt is manufactured on a belt loom or a belt weaving machine.
- the yarns for the upper fabric layer 2, the lower fabric layer 3 and the crimped yarn 10 are simultaneously fed into the weaving machine as warp threads.
- the warp threads of the upper and lower fabric layers 2, 3 are woven with their respective weft threads to form the one-piece fabric tube, while the yarn strands 11 of the crimped yarn 10 are loosely drawn into the interior of the fabric tube 1 without interweaving.
- the entire production is therefore carried out in a cost-effective manner in a single operation on a single machine.
- corresponding pieces are cut off.
- parts of the crimp yarn can either be cut out of the ends of these pieces or the crimp yarn can be pushed back at these ends into the interior of the fabric tube so that these ends can be sewn to the corresponding ends of other pieces without the interposition of cushioning material to form the desired articles .

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a padded belt, in particular for load absorption on the human body, consisting of a textile fabric hose for load absorption and a cushioning material accommodated in the interior of the fabric hose.
Padded straps of this type are used, for example, in the manufacture of climbing belts for mountaineers or of carrying belts for backpacks or the like. The straps are used to transmit a load to the human body, taking particular care that the load is introduced into the human body without local load peaks. This applies in particular to climbing belts to prevent injuries in the event of a fall. But even with backpack risers, a flat load transfer is required to avoid pressure or chafing and to ensure a high level of comfort. Another example use of such padded straps can be found in the manufacture of saddle straps for pack animals, such as horses.
Conventional padded straps of this type consist of a one-piece woven tubular fabric which is cut into corresponding pieces for the production of carrying straps for backpacks or climbing belts, into which a cushioning material in the form of foam strips of rectangular cross section is drawn.
In practice, there are also some problematic properties of such known padded straps. On the one hand, the foam inserts are rectangular in cross section. Since they are for Unfolding the desired cushioning effect from not too soft material, the edges of the rectangular cross-section tend to cause chafing despite the elasticity of the material. In addition, it is shown that the foams that are suitable for use are not very resistant to aging and crumble quickly in long-term use.
The object on which the invention is based is therefore to create a padded belt of the type mentioned at the outset, which ensures increased wearing comfort with simple, inexpensive manufacture.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in the case of a padded belt of the type mentioned at the outset in that the cushioning material consists of crimped yarn arranged in the interior in the longitudinal direction of the warp threads of the fabric tube.
This configuration according to the invention ensures that the belt adapts optimally to the anatomical conditions of the human body without pressure points.
In order to avoid any stretching of the crimped yarn in the longitudinal direction by force loading, it is preferred that the crimped yarn representing the cushioning material is loosely accommodated in the interior thereof without being connected to the fabric tube. Because of the voluminous bulk and crimping of the individual yarn strands, a shift and agglomeration in the transverse direction is also avoided.
It is preferred that the crimped yarn is a textured synthetic fiber yarn with voluminous bulk like a textured polyester continuous yarn. Such a material is not only very dimensionally stable in terms of bulk, but is also distinguished by sweat resistance and aging resistance.
In a preferred embodiment of the upholstery belt according to the invention it is provided that the fabric hose consists of an upper fabric layer and a lower fabric layer of different material properties.
The upper fabric layer preferably consists of a weather-resistant material with high tensile strength and elongation at break, such as a polyamide yarn. This upper fabric layer is primarily responsible for the load absorption. In use, it is arranged on the side away from the body and also ensures the necessary weather resistance and insensitivity to UV radiation.
The lower fabric layer is preferably made of a breathable, skin-friendly material, such as polyester spun yarn, Cotton-polyester mixed yarn, PVC or polypropylene yarn. The underside is intended to rest on the human body. The preferred materials have wearing properties that are very close to or even exceed those of natural fibers such as cotton in terms of skin friendliness and breathability.
In a preferred method for producing an upholstered belt according to the invention, it is provided that the fabric tube is woven in one piece in a weaving machine, for example a ribbon loom, and that a multitude of yarn strands of the crimped yarn are fed as warp threads and without interweaving with the weft - And warp threads of the fabric hose is loosely drawn into the interior.
In this way, a padded belt is made of fabric hose and cushioning material in a single operation. The work steps of laboriously pulling in pieces of the cushioning material as in the prior art are eliminated. The belt emerging from the weaving machine according to the invention can be cut into pieces for further processing and assembly, for example to form climbing belts or shoulder straps for backpacks. To sew the ends of these pieces, if necessary, either part of the filler material can be cut out or simply pushed back into the interior of the belt so that the ends can be sewn in the desired manner without a cushioning intermediate layer. It is therefore not necessary to subsequently cut and pull in additional elements.
The invention is explained in more detail below, for example with reference to the drawing; the only figure of the drawing shows a schematic representation of a piece of the padded belt in a perspective view with an irregularly cut end to show details.
As shown, the interior of the

The padded belt is manufactured on a belt loom or a belt weaving machine. For assembling the belt, i.e. For the production of, for example, carrying straps for backpacks or climbing belts, corresponding pieces are cut off. Depending on requirements, parts of the crimp yarn can either be cut out of the ends of these pieces or the crimp yarn can be pushed back at these ends into the interior of the fabric tube so that these ends can be sewn to the corresponding ends of other pieces without the interposition of cushioning material to form the desired articles .
