Definitions
- the invention relates to a pressure compensation system of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1.
- the counter pane of increased strength which has no fire protection glass quality or function, also fails before the lowest fire resistance class (in this case: G 30) due to the thermally induced voltages, the function of the entire component as fire protection glazing is no longer guaranteed, provided that the fire protection glass is not reinforced fire protection glass panes (reinforced fire protection glass: glasses that still maintain their fire protection function even when broken; e.g. wire glass).
- Valves for fire protection insulating glass with counter panes of increased strength have therefore already been proposed, which should reduce the pressure resulting in the event of a fire in the space between the panes so early that breakage of the fire shield can be reliably ruled out.
- Such a valve is described in DE-OS 3 125 597.
- these valve designs respond either to pressure or to temperature.
- valves that respond to pressure would also have to be set to different pressure values for different formats; they are therefore not generally suitable for different fire protection glass formats.
- the temperature-sensitive valves consist of an aluminum tube, which is sealed with wood metal and housed in the spacer.
- the response of the valves is not only caused by the temperature in the space between the panes, but also by the significantly lower temperature in the spacer, so that the temperature in the space between the panes - and thus also the resulting pressure in the space between the panes can certainly reach values that lead to a break in the fire protection glass pane and thus to failure of the fire protection glazing.
- valves of this design after a brief opening, the valve can be observed to close due to the solidification of the wood metal in the cool, outer end of the aluminum tube.
- the pressure compensation systems described in EU-A-114551 are accommodated in a hole through the non-fire protection glass pane (for example VSG pane).
- This system therefore has the following disadvantages in normal operation: -
- the valve is subjected to normal handling (when installing in the glazing, cleaning, improperly "playing" on the conspicuous valves), which can easily damage the seal between the valve and the glass, combined with a negative influence on the long-term behavior the insulating glass unit (no condensation in the space between the panes)
- the butly seal commonly used as a water vapor diffusion barrier softens and - in conjunction with the atmospheric pumping movements of the glass - the necessary tightness of the insulating glass system can break through the loss of adhesion of the seal to glass and / or metal can no longer be ensured. The consequence of this is the formation of condensation in the space between the panes.
- the object of the present invention is therefore a pressure compensation system which can be used in a fire protection glazing designed as a multi-pane system with a space between the panes, preferably as insulating glass, with at least one fire protection glass pane, and that - In the event of fire, even with partial flame, regardless of the direction of the flame, responds so early that breakage of the fire protection glass pane due to increased pressure in the space between the panes is reliably ruled out and thus failure of the component as fire protection glazing - due to breakage of the fire protection glass pane due to increased pressure in the space between the panes is prevented - in normal operation, i.e.
- a first hollow body made of a low-melting alloy (approx. + 70 ° to 100 ° C.) is sealingly inserted into the spacer of a multi-pane insulating glass, protruding into the space between the panes; in this hollow body there is a second hollow body open on both sides with a significantly higher softening point than that of the outer hollow body.
- a seal is accommodated between the spacer and the end of the outer hollow body which is preferably designed as a stop.
- the pressure compensation system does not protrude beyond the outer end of the insulating glass edge and is preferably included in the sealing of the insulating glass system.
- FIG. 1 An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by the drawing.
- the figure shows an enlarged vertical section through an exemplary pressure compensation system according to the present invention, which is arranged in the spacer 5 of a double-pane insulating glass, the pane 7 being the fire protection glass and the counter pane 6 being the pane of increased strength (for example ESG).
- first hollow body 1 projects beyond the spacer and into the pane space 10 of the insulating glass.
- a glass tube is inserted as the second hollow body 2, which is open on both sides and which is fixed by means of a glue-type adhesive 3 to make assembly easier.
- the pressure compensation system is embedded in the secondary seal 12 made of silicone sealant and used as an insulating glass seal; the primary butyl seal is shown at 8.
- the part of the hollow body 2 protruding beyond the outer end of the insulating glass unit is used in production to enable the secondary seal to be introduced without clogging the hollow body 2, which would question the function of the pressure compensation system.
- the protruding part is removed, for. B. with the aid of a predetermined breaking point 11, so that the entire pressure compensation system does not protrude beyond the insulating glass edge.
- the pressure compensation system according to the invention has the following mode of operation:
- the valve reacts immediately to the increased temperature in the space between the panes, regardless of the direction of flame exposure of the asymmetrically constructed fire protection insulating glass. If the temperature in the space between the panes reaches the softening temperature of the hollow body 1 (the melting temperature of this hollow body 1 is set such that the pressure in the space between the panes is not critical for the fire protection glass pane), the bottom of the hollow body 1 melts off with almost no time delay.
- the hollow body 2 which is inserted into the hollow body 1 and is open on both sides and only softens at higher temperatures, prevents the pressure compensation system from closing again. This would be the case without the inner hollow body 2, since then the outer hollow body 1 would not only melt at the bottom but completely and then due to re-solidification of the melting material, which is caused by the pressure in the space between the panes to the outside, i. H. is pressed to the colder end of the pressure compensation system, the hollow body 1 would be closed again.
- the hollow body 2 in conjunction with the small amount of the melting base material of the hollow body 1 ensures that the valve does not close again.
- This maintenance of the open state of the pressure compensation system is essential for the fire protection glass function, at least until the non-fire protection glass pane fails, since otherwise - when the pressure compensation system closes - the pressure in the space between the panes rises again to values critical for the fire protection glass and can thus lead to breakage of the fire protection glass pane.
- Fire protection glazing with insulating glass with pressure compensation valves according to the invention were tested in fire tests according to DIN 4102, Part 5, also in different formats; the valves spoke here - regardless of the direction of the flame - Unaffected by component-related shadowing - regardless of the installation location (top / bottom / side) so early that the pressure for the fire protection glass in the space between the panes of the fire protection glass only reached uncritical values and was then permanently reduced. All tested composites achieved at least fire resistance class G 30.
- the pressure compensation systems according to the invention ensure operational reliability even in normal operation; insulating glasses equipped with pressure compensation systems according to the invention thus meet the requirements placed on a multi-pane insulating glass according to DIN 1286, part 1; a difference to insulating glasses of the same design, but without a pressure compensation system, was not found in the climate change tests carried out according to DIN 52344.

Abstract
