Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for separating unsized paper blocks with cardboard spines from a stack comprising a plurality of paper layers and cardboard intermediate sheets that are cut flush with their cutting surfaces.
The paper layers each contain a counted number of paper sheets and are separated from each other by the cardboard intermediate sheets forming the back of the cardboard in the finished block. The separation is necessary for the further assembly of the paper blocks. So far, it was carried out by hand and was therefore labor intensive.
The invention is based on the object of developing a method and a device which enables automation of the separation process.
To achieve this object, the combinations of features specified in
The solution according to the invention is based on the knowledge that the cardboard interleaves have a resilience several times greater than the paper layers due to their inherent stiffness when they are bent, so that in the case of bending sheets in a stack, entire layers preferably return to the stack under the action of the restoring force of the adjacent cardboard interleaf Valves. By suitably aligning and positioning bending forces acting on the cut surface of a stack, it is achieved according to the invention that the last paper layer covered by a cardboard end sheet is spread apart from the rest of the stack. By penetrating the resulting gap, the paper block thus separated can be separated from the stack and fed to the further processing stations.
- der Stapel wird an seinem durch ein Karton-Endblatt abgedeckten Ende so gegen ein Widerlager angelegt, daß ein Teil des Stapels frei über eine Kante des Widerlagers übersteht;
- gegen eine Angriffsstelle an der Schnittfläche des überstehenden Stapelteils wird eine schräg zum Stapelende mit einer Komponente zur Widerlagerkante weisende Kraft ausgeübt, die die zwischen Angriffsstelle und Endblatt befindliche Stapelportion unter Bildung einer keilförmigen Lücke vom übrigen Stapel abbiegt;
- durch Verschieben der Angriffsstelle der Kraft in Richtung zum Stapelende wird ein Teil der abgebogenen Papierlagen und Karton-Zwischenblätter unter der Wirkung ihrer elastischen Rückstellkraft zum Stapel zurückgeklappt;
- die Angriffsstelle der Biegekraft wird so weit verschoben, bis das letzte Karton-Zwischenblatt zurückgeklappt und die letzte Papierlage mit dem Endblatt noch abgebogen ist;
The following method steps are proposed for the separation process according to the invention:
- The stack is placed against an abutment at its end covered by a cardboard end sheet so that part of the stack protrudes freely over an edge of the abutment;
- against an attack point on the cut surface of the projecting stack part, a force is exerted obliquely to the end of the stack with a component towards the abutment edge, which bends the portion of the stack located between the attack point and the end sheet, forming a wedge-shaped gap from the rest of the stack;
- By moving the point of application of the force towards the end of the stack, part of the bent paper layers and cardboard intermediate sheets is folded back to the stack under the effect of their elastic restoring force;
- The point of application of the bending force is moved until the last cardboard intermediate sheet is folded back and the last paper layer with the end sheet is still bent;
- Then the last paper layer with the end sheet is separated from the rest of the stack by engaging in the wedge-shaped gap to form the paper block, while the cardboard interleaf last folded back forms the end sheet when repeating the separating process.
The stack is advantageously pressed or held against the abutment during the bending process. In the case of higher stacks, this can only be done by acting on the dead weight. Expediently, however, the stack is additionally clamped in the vicinity of the abutment between two of its cut surfaces.
There are various options for the separation process. According to a preferred embodiment, the paper block can be peeled off from the rest of the stack for this purpose by engaging in the gap. In principle, it is also possible for the paper block to be gripped in the area of the gap by a gripper and removed from the rest of the stack, preferably pulled off or lifted off.
In order to avoid the folding back of individual paper sheets from the paper layers when bending sheets, it is proposed according to an advantageous embodiment of the invention that an additional hold-down force is exerted on the bent paper layers, which is less than the restoring force of the cardboard intermediate sheets, but greater than that of the paper layers .
A particularly light bending sheet with the lowest bending forces is possible in the area of the corners of the protruding stack part.
- es ist ein gegen das durch ein Karton-Endblatt abgedecktes Stapelende anlegbares Widerlager vorgesehen, über dessen Kante ein Stapelteil frei übersteht;
- es ist mindestens ein gegen eine senkrechte Schnittfläche des überstehenden Stapelteils unter Abbiegen von Papier schräg zum Stapelende bis zu einer Endstellung verschiebbarer Vereinzelungskopf vorgesehen, wobei in der Endstellung nur die durch das Endblatt begrenzte Papierlage vom Stapel abgebogen und die übrigen Papierlagen bis zum letzten Karton-Zwischenblatt aufgrund ihrer elastischen Rückstellkraft zum Stapel zurückgeklappt sind;
A preferred device for carrying out the method according to the invention has the following features:
- An abutment is provided against the stack end covered by a cardboard end sheet, over the edge of which a stack part protrudes freely;
There is at least one separating head which can be displaced against a vertical cut surface of the projecting stack part by bending paper obliquely to the end of the stack up to an end position, in the end position only the paper layer delimited by the end sheet being bent from the stack and the remaining paper layers down to the last carton. Interleaf are folded back to the stack due to their elastic restoring force;
- A device is provided for separating the paper blocks bent by the separating head from the stack.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the stack is located in a downwardly open shaft bordered by vertical boundary walls or edges, which is bounded at the bottom by a carriage that can be moved horizontally back and forth on the machine frame. The carriage has abutment rollers for the stack and a device for peeling off the paper blocks bent by the separating head. Advantageously, at least one separating member, which can be inserted into the gap formed by the separating head by moving the carriage, is preferably arranged as a roller or pair of rollers.
According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, two alternatingly operable separating heads are arranged on opposite sides of the stack, while the carriage has two roller groups as an abutment, which are arranged mirror-inverted to one another in the direction of displacement with respect to a transverse center line and separated by a central gap. The abutment rollers that symmetrically delimit the gap also form the separating elements that can be moved into the gap. A conveyor device that receives and transports the separated paper blocks is arranged below the carriage.

The separating device essentially consists of a
The
The separating
The
In the operating state shown in Fig. 3a, the two separating heads are in their retracted initial position, while the carriage on the left is in its end position with the
The
From this position, the separating
The separating
