Abstract

A frame, more particularly for a picture, comprises profiled rails which are joined together at the corners of the frame by a corner-connector. Each corner-connector comprises two plugs arranged respectively in a cavity in each profiled rail, and each of the cavities comprises an opening extending in the longitudinal direction. The object to be achieved is a functionally reliable joint between the profiled rails which is simple to produce and can easily be released when required. To this end, each plug comprises a tongue which passes through the opening in the cavity and which engages, by means of a hook element or the like, behind a retaining element. A retaining element of this kind is arranged on at least one web of the profiled rail.

Description

The invention relates to a frame, in particular for a picture, with profile rails connected in each case in frame corners, preferably orthogonally, by means of corner connectors, each of which has a hollow chamber, a longitudinally extending opening and a web, each corner connector having two in the hollow chamber of the respective profile rail has inserted pin which are attached to the web of the profile rail with a hook.

From the French patent application 23 22 572, such a framework has been demonstrated, which is intended to hold a painting of a reproduction, photography or other art objects. The profile rails contain a hollow chamber which is approximately rectangular in cross-section and which has an opening extending in the longitudinal direction of the profile rail between two webs. The webs are provided near the respective frame corner with a recess into which the corner connector engages with a hook arranged at the free end of the pin. The hook, like the pin, is located inside the hollow chamber and the tip of the hook is directed outwards from the hollow chamber. Difficulties can arise when joining the rails to the frame result if the hook does not engage properly in the recess of the web. It is not easily possible to check that the corner connectors are firmly seated since the pins and hooks are located in the hollow chamber and are only accessible through the opening. There is a risk that after the hooks have been assembled, they are accidentally pressed into the hollow chamber and the connection is released.

From DE-OS 30 27 258 an interchangeable frame is known, the corner connector of which has a tongue with a hook outside the hollow chamber. The pin is arranged in the hollow chamber. The profile rail has a recess into which the hook of the tongue engages from the outside. The tongue is not protected against external influences and an unintentional loosening of the connection cannot be excluded. A considerable amount of material is required for the corner connector and in practice there is a risk of the exposed tongues tearing off.

From DE-GM 76 33 157 an interchangeable frame is known, the corner connectors of which each have the pin and the hook on a flexible tongue within the hollow chambers. The hook reaches from the inside of the cavity into a recess in the profile rail. The correct position of the hook cannot be checked easily during assembly. It also cannot be ruled out that when the picture is hung up, the hook is accidentally pressed inwards and the connection of the profile rails is released.

Finally, DE-PS 29 42 555 shows an interchangeable frame, the corner connector of which has a tongue in the hollow chamber of the respective profile rail. The tongue has a free end face facing the corner of the frame. On both sides of the tongue, the corner connector contains narrow fastening webs, which means that the pin has a relatively large width. Furthermore, the tight fit of the tongue cannot be checked easily and the connection can be released again by inadvertently pressing the tongue into the chamber.

The invention has for its object to develop the framework of the type mentioned in such a way that on the one hand a reliable connection is achieved and on the other hand the connection can be checked without difficulty. An unintentional loosening of the connection when holding the frame in the area of the frame corner should be avoided and, if necessary, the connection should be able to be released again without additional tools. The corner connector is intended to ensure a functionally reliable connection with a small amount of material, which, however, can be easily removed again if required.

To solve this problem, it is proposed that at least one web of the profile rail has a holding element protruding beyond its outer surface, that the pin in the region of the holding element has a tongue which is passed through the opening out of the hollow chamber and whose width is at most as large as that Width of the opening that at least one hook is arranged outside the hollow chamber above the outer surface at the free end of the tongue and that the hook can be locked on the holding element by a force acting in the direction of the outer surface of the web.

The frame according to the invention has a functionally appropriate structure, a reliable connection of the profile rails in the frame corners being ensured. No special tools are required to establish the connection, but the tongue of the holding element can be manually detached from the holding element, the holding element subsequently being able to be pulled out of the hollow chamber in its longitudinal direction. The tongue of the respective pin penetrates the opening extending in the longitudinal direction of the hollow chamber and can be easily pushed over the holding element to the web of the profile rail in order to make the connection, in order to subsequently hook reliably with the hook. The tongue is firmly connected to the pin, there being sufficient mobility to allow the inventive mobility with respect to the To allow holding element. When the holding element is pushed over, the tongue is moved towards the rear of the profile rail with a force directed away from the hollow chamber. After the holding element has been pushed over, the tongue springs back, in the direction of the hollow chamber, thereby ensuring a reliable locking. The tongue expediently has a nose which can be gripped under with a finger in a simple manner in order to be able to detach the connection again in a simple manner if necessary. Here, the tongue only has to be raised against the spring action via the holding element, so that subsequently the tongue and the entire corner connector can be pulled out of the end of the profile rail. Due to the resilient design according to the invention, at least of the tongue and expediently also of the entire corner connector, a reliable bracing of the two profile rails in the corner area is ensured. The miter-cut profile rails are consequently close together in the corner areas, without the appearance of annoying gaps. Local overloading and the associated deformation of the profile rail, as is possible when using screw elements, is advantageously avoided. The corner connector is expediently made of a plastic, whereby the mobility can be achieved without any problems by appropriately specifying the material thickness and the length of the tongue. This mobility can also be ensured without any problems if it is formed from a metal which has sufficient elastic resilience. The holding elements are expediently formed by punching out and bending over from the webs. In the context of the invention, the tongue is resilient, specifically because of the corresponding material properties and / or shape.

One recognizes here the web 8 and the hollow chamber 14 located below or in front of it. In the hollow chamber 14 there is the corner connector or the pin 16, at the end of which the Tongue 20 is arranged. The tongue 20 reaches through the above-mentioned opening between the webs and one hook 26 can be seen here at the front end. This hook 26 engages behind, the same also applies to the other hook, the holding element 22 of the web 8. The holding element is simply produced by punching out and bending upwards or to the rear 34.

The holding element 22 visible here, like the other holding element located in front of the plane of the drawing, projects outward beyond the outer surface 23 of the web 8. The tongue 20 is passed between the two holding elements out of the hollow chamber 14 so that the free end of the tongue 20 with the two hooks is above the outer surface 23. The engagement surfaces of the hooks engage behind the holding elements mentioned outside the hollow chamber 14 and above the outer surfaces of the two webs. The two hooks are arranged laterally at the front end of the tongue. When establishing the connection, the hooks first slide over the webs and the holding elements, the free end of the tongue carrying out a movement directed away from the outer surface of the webs. When the hooks have reached the end of the holding elements, a force acting in the direction of the outer surface 23 of the web can act to bring the hooks into engagement with the holding elements and thus to fix the connection. If, due to the manufacturing tolerance, the hooks do not engage automatically, you can easily press the outside of the hook with your finger to establish the connection. Subsequent unintentional loosening when gripping the frame is not to be feared, since the hooks are pressed onto the outer surface of the webs. To release the connection, a force directed away from the outer surfaces 23, 25 must be exerted in order to push the hooks over the holding elements.

In the right-hand part of FIG. 2, the other pin 18 and its lateral hooks 26, 28 can be seen in the frontal view. The webs 8, 10 of the profile rail 2 can also be seen. Within the scope of this invention, the profile rail 2 has two extensions 36, 38 directed towards the rear 34, between which the tongue 20 with the hooks is located. The webs 8, 10 and the height of the extensions 36, 38 are specified according to the invention in such a way that the tongue 20 with the hooks 26, 28 is located within the profile rail 2 and does not protrude beyond the rear edge 40.

The profile rail 2 also has an L-shaped extension 42 for anchoring the spring element 32 towards the center. The spring element 32 engages behind the mentioned L-neck 42 with a hook 44 and extends over an arc 46 into a foot part 48. This foot part rests on the back of the carrier plate 30. The carrier plate 30, an image 50 and a glass plate 52 are inserted into the frame formed in this way. For this purpose, the profiled rails 2 have a leg 56 on the front side 54, on the rear side of which the glass plate 52 bears, as shown. The support plate 30, the image 50 and the glass plate 52 are pressed onto the leg 56 by means of the spring element 32.

The assembly or replacement of a picture can be done in a few simple steps. To do this, a profile rail only has to be detached on one side of the frame. This is done according to the invention in a simple manner by lifting the nose 58 of the tongue 20 with the hooks 26, 28 over the holding elements of the webs, so that the respective pin can then be pulled out of the profile rail without problems. No tools are required for this. The assembly takes place in the opposite direction in such a way that the pin is inserted into the hollow chamber from the end. Here, the hooks 26, 28 slide away over the holding elements 22, 24 and then snap behind the holding elements 22, 24.

Fig. 3 zeigt eine Aufsicht in Blickrichtung III gemäß Fig. 2. The tongues 20 with the side hooks 26, 28, each of which is elongated forward via the pins 16, 18, can be clearly seen here. The corner connector or its pin 16, 18 contain ribs 60 on the back for stiffening. The ribs 60 also allow a certain tolerance compensation. According to the invention, the corner connectors consist of a plastic which has sufficient elasticity. The pins can be manufactured with a certain oversize, the ribs 60 being able to be compressed somewhat easily when inserted into the hollow chambers and the insertion being possible with little effort.

Fig. 4 shows an embodiment in which the tongue 20 is corrugated in the longitudinal direction. The spring action is thereby not insignificantly improved, whereby a reliable connection can be guaranteed. Production-related tolerances, in particular when the holding elements 22 are introduced into the webs, can be compensated for in this way without problems, while a functionally appropriate connection is nevertheless guaranteed. Also important is the inclined position of the engaging surfaces 62, 64 of the tongue 20 or the holding element 22. The engaging surfaces thus inclined achieve a wedge effect, due to which the tongue remains reliably anchored in this position after reaching behind the holding element 22. Unauthorized removal of the hooks 26 from the holding elements 22 is prevented with little effort.
