Definitions

  • the invention relates to the packaging of loads and, in particular, to a machine for the spiral wrapping of packaging material with a plastic stretch film web by relative rotation of the packaging material and a film supply roll, the film supply roll and a stretching device being placed on a stand fixed along a machine-fixed stand. and downwardly movable carriages are mounted and the pre-stretching device has at least one stretching roller connected in a rotationally fixed manner to a friction wheel of a friction wheel transmission, which is mounted with an associated friction wheel for engaging and disengaging the friction wheel transmission on at least one support device which can be pivoted about a vertical axis, and has a mechanical switching device which in the initial phase of the winding cycle keeps the friction gear disengaged and then allows a clutch of the friction gear.
  • the take-off, stretching and web transport forces are derived from the relative rotation between the goods to be packaged and the film supply roll and are transmitted via the film web.
  • the film web should be relieved of tensile forces as much as possible.
  • the front part of the film web is wrapped loosely and without pre-stretching around the packaged goods (DE-PS 2 413 807). Relieving the stretch film from the stretching forces in the initial phase of the winding process is particularly important in pre-stretching winding machines in which the film material is cold stretched by 80% or more between two stretching rolls which are spaced apart and set to a fixed peripheral speed ratio via a gear.
  • a mechanical switching device is mounted on a carriage that can be moved up and down and holds the pivoting stretching roller with associated friction wheel in the uncoupled position until the carriage has carried out a specific stroke in the initial phase of the new winding cycle.
  • this known mechanical switching device is not without problems. It requires the use of a separate footplate underneath the slide, thereby limiting the slide stroke downwards and the lower winding position.
  • a mobile pallet winder such as that offered by the applicant under the trademark "Robopac"
  • the ground clearance of the pallet wrapping machine bypassing the pallet is impaired by the base plate. This has a particularly disruptive effect on uneven surfaces.
  • the object of the invention is to provide the winding machine with a structurally particularly simple mechanical switching device in such a way that neither the ground clearance nor the carriage stroke are impaired.
  • the machine according to the invention is characterized in that the mechanical switching device has a switching cam, which is supported on a machine-fixed component, is guided such that it can be displaced in the vertical direction to a limited extent, and is resiliently pretensioned in an upper end position and has an overhead contact surface and a lateral cam surface, and a switching element, which acts on the cam surface in the initial phase of the winding cycle and on the contact surface of the switching cam in the end phase of the winding cycle, is held on the pivotable carrier device at a defined distance from the pivotable stretching roller; presses down, is biased into a decoupled position at least after running onto the switch cam and keeps the pivotable stretching roller uncoupled via its carrier device when it contacts the cam surface of the switch cam.
  • a switching cam which is supported on a machine-fixed component, is guided such that it can be displaced in the vertical direction to a limited extent, and is resiliently pretensioned in an upper end position and has an overhead contact surface and a lateral cam surface
  • a switching element which acts
  • the invention makes a footplate restricting the ground clearance and the sled stroke unnecessary.
  • the switch cam is itself spring-loaded vertically and can be arranged at a largely arbitrary height, preferably on the machine-fixed stand or mast, at a location which favors installation and is easily accessible.
  • the carriage carries only the switching element, the intended function of which is to switch off the stretching effect of the pivotable roller in the initial phase of the winding process with optimum reliability, since it is directly coupled to the pivot arm of the pivotable roller.
  • the switching element By suitable design of the support arm of the switching element rigidly connected to the swivel arm of the roller, the switching element can be adapted to the position and the spring stroke of the switching cam which is supported on the machine.
  • the parts of the mechanical switching device that are necessary for the invention are minimized and can be of simple and easy to manufacture and assemble design.
  • the invention is preferably applied to a winding machine of the type described in DE-PS 3 043 807, the machine being characterized in that the stretching device has two stretching rollers which can be rotated on parallel axes, each of which is coupled to a friction wheel of a friction wheel gear and to a carrier device are mounted, wherein at least one of the two carrier devices is pivotable about a vertical axis, that the friction gear deactivated in a first pivoting position of the pivotable carrier device and activated in a second pivoting position of this carrier device in that the two friction wheels are in frictional contact, the friction wheels and the associated stretching rollers being dimensioned such that the peripheral speed of the outlet-side roller is higher than that of the inlet-side roller Roller to advance the film material between the parallel stretching rollers, that the mechanical switching device controls the pivoting position of the pivotable carrier device during a winding cycle, in order to wind the film web during an initial phase of the winding cycle under reduced tension on the goods to be packaged, and then automatically to the end of the stretching device Activate
  • the invention can also be used in conventional brake systems, with the pivotally mounted stretching roller being able to be braked under the tension of the film web via the friction gear.
  • a preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the pivotable carrier device has a two-armed lever, on one arm of which the pivotable stretching roller is mounted coaxially with a friction wheel and on the counter arm of which the switching element is mounted.
  • a two-armed lever is particularly easy to adapt to the structural and kinematic conditions of the packaging machine and also enables direct power transmission between the switching element and the friction wheel to be switched.
  • the switching element is preferably a roller freely rotatably mounted on a horizontal axis of rotation.
  • the invention is further developed in that in the case of coupled friction wheels the contact surface of the switching cam is arranged in the path of movement of only one circumferential segment of the roller and the axis of rotation of the roller lies outside the contact surface of the switching cam, so that the roller is released laterally after being relieved from the film pull by the upwardly spring-loaded switching cam is disengaged and the friction wheels uncoupled by the spring force of the switch cam.
  • an arm carrying the pivotable stretching roller can also be biased into a decoupled pivoting position by a spring.
  • the shape of the contact surface of the switching cam is not critical.
  • the contact surface can therefore be inclined, curved, flat, with a linear or planar attack on the switching element. It is only important that the contact surface is arranged in the path of movement of the switching element in such a way that the switching element in the final phase of the winding process makes a vertical force component effective for depressing the switching cam on the contact surface.
  • the run-up surface runs in a horizontal plane and the cam surface runs approximately vertically.
  • the switching cam itself is mounted on a vertical guide in such a way that it can only carry out vertical movements, but can absorb effective transverse forces on the lateral cam surface without a horizontal evasive movement.
  • the spiral winding machine shown in the drawing has a carriage 1 which can move vertically back and forth on a machine-fixed column 2 via vertically running guide rails 3 and running wheels 4.
  • the carriage 1 carries all the essential machine components for wrapping the palletized packaging material L (FIG. 4) with a plastic stretch film 5.
  • This includes a film supply roll 6, of which the film web 5 during wrapping of the packaging material L by relative movement of the carriage 1 and the packaging material L is withdrawn, and a pre-stretching device 7 comprising two mutually spaced parallel stretching rollers 8 and 9 and a friction gear 10 with friction wheels 12 and 13.
  • the stretching rollers 8 and 9 have the same diameter and are each rotatably fixed with a friction wheel 12 via a vertically extending shaft or 13 connected.
  • the diameter of the outlet-side friction wheel 13 is considerably smaller than that of the inlet-side friction wheel 12, so that in the coupled state of the friction wheel gear 7 (FIG. 2B) the peripheral speed of the outlet-side stretching roller 9 is higher than the peripheral speed of the one determined by the peripheral ratio of the two friction wheels inlet-side stretching roller 8.
  • Different circumferential roller speeds can also be achieved by different diameters of the two stretching rollers 8 and 9.
  • the shaft of the stretching roller 8 is rigidly supported on the carriage 1 via arms 14.
  • the lower pivot lever of the pair of pivot levers 15 is designed in the exemplary embodiment shown as a double lever and carries on the counter arm 17 a switching roller 18 rotatably mounted about a vertical axis.
  • the film web 5 runs from the carriage via a deflection roller 20 mounted on one side on a base plate 19 of the carriage 1.
  • a switching cam 21 interacts with the switching roller 18, which is vertically displaceably mounted on a column-fixed bracket and is biased vertically upwards by spring means, shown here as a coil spring 23.
  • the switching cam 21 is cup-shaped with a flat run-up surface 24 and a lateral cam surface 25.
  • the run-up surface 24 lies in the vertical movement path of the switching roller 18 carried with the carriage 1.
  • the winding process begins in the lower carriage end position shown in FIGS. 1A and B.
  • the pivotable friction wheel 13 is spaced from the friction wheel 12 fixedly mounted on the slide, i.e. the friction gear is disengaged.
  • This decoupled position of the friction wheel 13 is maintained with the aid of the switching roller 18 engaging on the lateral cam surfaces 25 of the switching cam 21 even when the tensile forces acting in the direction of arrow Z of the film web 5 at the start of the winding process are the outlet-side stretching roller 9 and the associated friction wheel 13 try to push into the coupled position.
  • the vertical cam surface 25 blocks the pivoting movement of the pivot lever 15 via the lever arm 17 necessary for coupling the two friction wheels 12 and 13 until the switching roller 18 leaves the cam surface 25 at the end of a specific slide stroke and can pivot in freely.
  • FIGS. 2A and 2B show a relative position of the switching roller 18 and the switching cam 21 in an intermediate position of the slide when the friction gear transmission is coupled.
  • the switching roller 18 runs onto the running surface 24 of the switching cam 21, which is designed as a horizontal plane in the exemplary embodiment shown.
  • the switching roller 18 takes the switching cam 21, which is spring-biased upwards, while pressing the contact surface 24 downward, since the switching cam 21 cannot deflect laterally.
  • the swivel arm 15 can pivot out into the uncoupled position shown in FIG.
  • the pivoting force required for this can be applied, for example, by a tension spring 29 shown in broken lines in FIG.
  • a tension spring 29 shown in broken lines in FIG.
  • the design and arrangement of the components of the switching device interacting in the end position are such that the spring loading (spring 23) of the switching cam 21 can also be used for pivoting out the swivel arm 15.
  • the switching roller 18 is supported only with an outer segment on the edge of the switching cam 21 above the cam surface 25.
  • the roller axis of rotation 28 lies outside the movement path of the switching cam 21 loaded by the spring 23.
  • the console 22 supporting the switching cam 21 and its spring 23 can be arranged at any height on the column 2, so that in any case there is sufficient ground clearance even in the depressed state of the switching cam 21 shown in FIG. 3.
  • the cranked lever arm 17, which serves to hold the switching roller 18, is arranged and dimensioned to match the position of the switching cam 21.
  • the lever arm 17 with the switching roller 18 can also be assigned to the upper swivel arm 15. The function of the switching device does not change since both swivel arms 15 are connected to form a fixed unit.
  • the machine base which is only partially shown in the drawing, can be part of a mobile base that travels around the palletized load L during wrapping.
  • the friction wheel 12 carrying the carrier device 14 can be arranged in the same way as the carrier device 15 or also pivotable instead.
  • a wedge-shaped actuator can be attached to the lever arm 17, which is exposed to a lateral force component for pivoting the lever arm 15 into the decoupled position when it hits the ramp surface 24 under the influence of the receding cam 21.
  • the ramp surface 24 and / or the cam surface 25 can also be suitably beveled.
