Description

The invention relates to a device for influencing the length and the stitch pattern of knitted pieces produced on a knitting machine, the knitting machine having a yarn spool, a thread brake and / or a thread return spring, a thread tension meter and a thread guide in the specified sequence with respect to the thread running direction, a process controller is provided, which specifies a target value for the thread tension, and wherein the braking force of the thread brake and / or the thread return spring is changed as a function of an output signal of the thread tension meter.

Knit pieces produced on flat knitting machines are subject to a length tolerance which needs to be improved due to different knitting requirements or parameters such as yarn tension, fabric take-off and knitting speed.

Devices are known with which the length of the knitted piece can be influenced via control elements. The knitted length of the knitted piece is measured, for example, and the deduction values for the knitted piece to be produced next are corrected by adjusting the needle counterbores. This is an indirect measurement, in which the parameters for the next piece of knitting can already be stored in a completely different way, for example from the end of the thread, and thus the deduction values corrected for this next piece of knitting can no longer lead to a correct length of the piece of knitting.

It is also known to determine correction values within a knitted piece, for example by scanning a repeat, and then to forward these to an adjustment device of the needle counterbores, for example in the form of stepper motors, for readjustment.

From DE-OS 33 00 240 a device for length measurement has become known in which the knitted piece is measured during manufacture and, if a desired length is not reached, a command is given after a pre-programmed number of rows of knitting, for example to knit one more repeat. On the other hand, if a predetermined length of the knitted fabric is reached at an early stage, the program can be terminated and the machine can be brought back to the starting position by means of a few additional carriage runs, with the thread guide and offset device being brought into the basic position.

Finally, it is known to carry out a check in the thread feeder by measuring the length of the thread to be knitted. The length of the thread to be knitted is monitored and recorded for certain predetermined rows of knits. The associated control organs then pass on occurring deviations in the thread length to adjusting devices for the needle countersinks, for example stepper motors, whereby the following rows of stitches are knitted with stitches of greater or lesser strength.

In a flat knitting machine, the thread is fed to the needles via thread guides. The needles, which have to fetch the thread from a spool of thread when pulling, pull it from the spool over several deflections. Since, on the one hand, work is almost always carried out with several threads and, on the other hand, new spools of thread have to be added constantly for thread feeding, different thread tension ratios arise continuously.

In addition, there are large differences in thread tension the sledge reversal. Those threads that are fed to the thread guide from the left and from the right outside below the thread guide rail are subject to fundamentally different tensions after the carriage reversal at the start of a new row of knits. If the thread is fed from the right to the outside of the thread guide, there are greater tensions when the carriage runs from right to left at the start of the new row of knits than when the carriage runs from left to right. In the case of a sled run from right to left, the thread must be pulled off the spool from the start. When the sled runs from left to right, the thread available from the right thread deflection to the left thread guide stop is first knitted until thread is still required from the thread spool for the rest of the knitting course.

Although the needles are constantly drawn off by a needle counterbore, the needles that are currently forming a stitch not only get the thread from the thread spool, but also from the stitch previously formed, the needle of which is no longer held by the needle counterbore.

The thread that comes from the spool passes through various control points, such as. B. a knot guard and a guard for the running of the coil. It is therefore influenced to different degrees in its tension by a thread brake and a thread return spring. In known flat knitting machines, the thread brake and the thread return spring can only be adjusted by hand. Therefore, if the thread tension changes within a knitted piece, for example due to yarn spools wound with different hardness, this can only be done by manual adjustment to be influenced. The stitches become irregular, the quality of the stitch pattern is poor and the length of the knitted fabric also varies.

From DE-OS 33 16 078 a thread compensation device on a flat knitting machine has become known, in which a vertically movable thread guide eyelet and an electromagnetically switchable and switchable thread brake is provided in front of the thread loop to form a thread loop. As long as a thread loop is formed by the thread guide eyelet, the thread brake is switched on and prevents further thread withdrawal from a thread spool. If a sensor detects an upper end position of the thread guide eyelet and thus a length-reduced thread loop, the thread brake is switched off or switched to a pre-adjustable braking dimension. The thread tension is not measured.

From US-A-3 408 832 an aforementioned device for knitting stockings is known. A thread tension detector emits two discrete signals, depending on whether a position of a cover pointer corresponding to the thread tension clears or interrupts a light path. When a maximum or minimum thread tension occurs, one of two magnets is excited. In a thread brake, depending on the excitation of one or the other magnet, a base plate with rollers arranged one above the other, over which the thread is guided, is rotated back and forth so that the braking force is switched discontinuously between two values in the manner of a two-point control. A continuous, quickly responding and the braking force at a constant value-maintaining control, which is necessary for a uniform knitted fabric with uniform meshes and uniform length, especially with fine delicacies, cannot be achieved with the known device. In addition, with the known, or only with unrealistically great effort for practical applications, it is possible to select the braking force to which control is based in a simple manner depending on the yarn and the thread movement parameters.

Starting from the device known from US-A-3 408 832, the present invention is therefore based on the object of creating a device with which it is possible in a simple and safe manner to determine the length and the stitch formation of a knitted fabric produced on a flat knitting machine to keep it even more constant during knitting and to choose the length and stitching in a simple way.

This object is achieved in that the process controller specifies a desired value for the thread tension depending on the knitted fabric, the type of thread, the thread guide and / or the thread movement, and with the thread tension meter for detecting the actual thread tension value and with the thread brake and / or the thread return spring for setting the selected thread tension Setpoint until a flat knitting machine is connected. The process controller preferably contains a microprocessor.

The process controller is advantageously integrated in a machine control of an electronically controlled flat knitting machine.

A particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention consists in that a yarn spool, a thread brake and / or a thread return spring, a thread tension meter and a thread guide are provided for each of a plurality of threads to be knitted, and that the process controller is designed for and correspondingly with a plurality of nominal values for the thread tension each thread tension meter and each thread brake and / or each thread return spring is connected.

The setpoint or the setpoints of the thread tensions are advantageously programmed into the process computer.

The invention is described below using an exemplary embodiment and with reference to the drawings. The drawing shows:
1 is a schematic representation of an embodiment of the device according to the invention in side view,
Fig. 2 is a schematic representation of the thread brake in the device of FIG. 1, seen in the direction of arrow II in Fig. 1, and
3 shows a schematic illustration of the device in FIG. 1, viewed in the direction of arrow III in FIG. 1.

The device shown in the drawing has a yarn spool 1, from which a thread 2 to be knitted is drawn off. The thread coming from the yarn package 1 passes through a thread brake 3, a knot monitor 4 and a return spring 5. The thread 2 is fed to the thread guide 7 of a thread guide moving along the flat knitting machine via a diverter plate 6.

A thread tension meter 8, which is operatively connected to the thread 2, is arranged in the area of the thread exit from the diverter plate 6. The output variable of the thread tension meter 8 corresponding to the thread tension actual value is fed to a process controller 9. The process controller 9, which advantageously contains a microprocessor and can be integrated in the machine control of an electronically controlled flat knitting machine, carries out a comparison of the actual thread tension value with a thread tension setpoint programmed into it.

Both the thread brake 3 and the thread return spring 5 can be controlled automatically by the process controller 9. They expediently have a stepper motor 10 and 11, respectively which the bias of a spring 12 or 13 is adjusted.

Rückholfederkräfte der Fadenbremse 3 bzw. der Fadenrückholfeder 5.If the thread tension changes during the course of the manufacture of a knitted piece, also during the passage of a row of knits, then this is detected by the thread tension meter 8, compared in process controller 9 with a thread tension setpoint preprogrammed there depending on the knitted fabric and yarn, and the result of the target / actual value comparison passed on to the thread brake 3 and / or the thread return spring 5 or their stepper motors 10, 11. The thread tension is thus continuously regulated to the predetermined thread tension setpoint, specifically by changing the brake or return spring forces of the thread brake 3 or the thread return spring 5.

One of the devices described is provided for each thread guide with thread guide nuts 7 of a flat knitting machine. All of these devices work on a single process controller 9. Different thread tension setpoints for the different threads can be programmed into the process controller 9. The nominal values of the thread tensions can also be influenced in the process controller 9 by one or more actual thread tension values.

The invention leads in a highly simple and reliable way to an equalization of the length and the stitch pattern of knitted pieces produced on a flat knitting machine by simply detecting the thread tension in front of the knitting needle and regulating this thread tension to a predetermined value to compensate for the yarn type, thread guidance and thread movement induced thread tension changes.
