Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a high voltage connection device, in particular for a high voltage transformer without high voltage output cables and with a removable potentiometric block.
  • a high voltage (HV) connection such as a car spark plug connection, is generally made using at least one terminal crimped on the connecting wire, this terminal can be a female terminal coming to cover a terminal or a male thimble, or possibly a male thimble fitting into a bowl or a female thimble.
  • HV high voltage
  • a high-voltage transformer intended for the supply of color cathode-ray tubes comprises an integrated potentiometric block which delivers the voltages of the grids of prefocusing G3 and screen G2 of these tubes.
  • the high voltage cable and the output cables of the gates G2 and G3 are fixed and integral with the transformer. These cables, of varying lengths depending on the users, constitute a hindrance to the manufacture, handling, and mounting of the transformers.
  • the potentiometric block, integrated into the transformer requires internal wiring operations which can affect the reliability of the product.
  • Document FR-E-71570 discloses an oscillation blocking element for an automobile ignition beam.
  • This blocking element comprises a sleeve of insulating material in which is disposed a pellet of elastic conductive material.
  • the patch includes, before mounting in the sleeve, its own output connectors. We cannot therefore use this device to ensure the connection between removable conductors.
  • a pellet of conductive elastic material is placed in an insulating sleeve in each end of which a cavity is formed intended to receive a component such as a spark plug head. This second embodiment also does not allow the connection between removable conductors with rigid core.
  • the subject of the present invention is a HT connection device between at least two removable conductors with a rigid core, a device which is reliable, offers a durable connection of good quality, which is easy and quick to implement and does not require any special equipment.
  • the present invention also relates to a connection device for a high voltage transformer whose output cables such as the cable connecting to the potentiometric block and the high voltage cable are removable and establish a reliable connection as simple as possible.
  • the high-voltage connection device is a connection device between at least two removable conductors with rigid core, said device comprising a sleeve of insulating material in which is fixed a silicone wafer loaded with conductive powder in the faces of which the stripped ends of these conductors can be inserted easily.
  • the high voltage transformer includes removable connection means for connecting high voltage output cables to it.
  • These means comprise, for each output of the transformer, a quick cable hooking device and a device for contacting the conductor or the core of the cable.
  • the quick coupling device is a clipping device comprising a first part integral with a "chimney" molded integrally with the envelope covering the coating insulation of the transformer winding , the internal diameter of this chimney being substantially equal to the external diameter of the cable, the base of this chimney being located above or near the corresponding terminal or outlet, this terminal or outlet being connected to a conductive pad, preferably made of silicone loaded with conductive material, this pellet sealingly closing the base of the chimney, the second part of the clipping device being fixed on the cable near its end and positioned so that the end of the conductor or of the cable core is in good contact with said pad when the end of the cable is pressed into the chimney and the two parts of the quick coupling device are in mutual engagement.
  • FIG. 4 shows a HT connection device according to the invention.
  • the example shown relates to the connection between an automobile spark plug and a THT supply wire for this spark plug, but it should be understood that the invention is not limited to such an application and can be used to establish any connection HT, or even low voltage, provided that a low current is passed through it.
  • a sleeve 32 is produced. made of rigid insulating material having approximately in its middle a constriction 33.
  • One of the ends of the sleeve 32 comes to cap the spark plug 30, the constriction 33 forming a stop for the upper part of the spark plug.
  • an inner groove can be made near the edge of this end of the sleeve, in which there is an appropriate seal 34.
  • the spark plug electrode ends in an axial metal tip. 35.
  • a conductive pad 36 is inserted by slightly forcing it, coming into abutment on the constriction 33.
  • the length of said other end of the sleeve 32 is greater than the length of the patch 36, which is fixed there by a ring 37 which can be either screwed, glued or force-fitted.
  • the hole in the ring 37 is cylindrical towards the outside of the sleeve and conical towards the patch 36.
  • the cylindrical part of this hole has a diameter slightly smaller than the external diameter of the insulator of the wire 31, while its conical part serves to guide, if necessary, the stripped end (end of the core) 38 of the wire 31, which sinks into the patch 36.
  • the ring 37 advantageously acts as a sealing means for the connection on the side of the wire 31.
  • the tip 35 is inserted into the pad 36 opposite the core 38.
  • the pad 36 is advantageously made of silicone charged with electrically conductive powder.
  • the tip 35 and the core 38 can be inserted easily, without necessarily being sharp and without the risk of twisting, the core 38 having to be relatively rigid nonetheless.
  • connection device of the present invention is explained below with reference to a high voltage transformer for television, with a focusing voltage output and a high voltage output for the anode of the cathode ray tube, but it is of course, the invention applies to high voltage transformers for televisions having a different number of outputs, as well as to high voltage transformers reserved for other uses.
  • the high voltage transformer 1 shown in FIG. 1 essentially comprises a magnetic circuit 2 and a winding 3 (not shown in detail) with several windings.
  • This transformer can for example be of the "split diode" type, that is to say of the type with fractional secondary winding, with separation by diodes.
  • the winding 3 is coated with a molding resin, in a leaktight manner, this coating being coated with a protective envelope which is not shown.
  • the transformer 1 has on one of its faces, for example the underside, several pins 4 connected to primary windings, and possibly low-voltage secondary windings of the winding 3, these pins 4 being intended to fix the transformer 1 on a printed circuit. appropriate and to establish electrical connections with the conductors of this printed circuit.
  • the transformer 1 comprises, in the present case, two high voltage outputs: a focusing voltage output, for supplying, via a cable and a potentiometric block, the grids G2 and G3 of a cathode ray tube (not shown) of which l the anode is supplied with very high voltage via a cable 6 via another output of this transformer.
  • the chimneys 7 and 8 communicate with the interior space of said envelope, and in particular with the connection terminals of the sockets or ends of corresponding high-voltage windings. These chimneys can either stop at their base or junction with the envelope loppe, or, as shown in the drawing, extend inside the envelope to reach the connection terminals, the conduit 9 thus formed inside the envelope can be used to accommodate elements such as resistors, capacitors, protective elements, etc.
  • the chimney 7 comprises, substantially at its base, a slight conical constriction 10, flaring outwards, allowing the end of the cable to be properly centered in the chimney. Just after this throttling, inwards, there is in the chimney 7, and in the present case more precisely in the conduit 9, a pellet 11 of conductive material, sealingly closing the chimney. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, this pellet is made of silicone loaded with powder having good electrical conduction.
  • a conductor 12 is inserted into the inner face of the patch 11, connected in a manner not shown, to the high-voltage winding providing the focusing voltage necessary for the gates G2 and G3.
  • the conductor 13 of a discharge resistor 14 called “bleeder” is inserted into the internal face of the patch 11, the other conductor of this resistance being inserted, not shown, in the internal face of the chimney disc 8.
  • a hook device 15 is fitted onto the end of the cable 5, appearing for example, as shown in the drawing, in the form of a socket, one of the ends of which flares out in a conical flange 16 and the other end of which is split along one or two generators.
  • the inside diameter of this socket is substantially equal to the outside diameter of the cable 5.
  • the chimney 7 has at its free end a clipping device 17 cooperating with the hook device 15.
  • the device 17 is a lug or a protuberance formed on the inner wall of the chimney 7.
  • the clipping device is a cylindrical sleeve threaded onto the chimney and comprising such a lug.
  • the dimensions of the flange 16 of the lug 17 are such that they can be clipped by firmly holding the cable 5 in the chimney 7, and that one can, if necessary, remove the cable 5 by exerting a strong force. pull on this cable, without damaging them.
  • the lug 17 can be made with the same material as that of the chimney 7, or can be metallic and attached to the chimney.
  • the aforementioned sockets are made of suitable plastic.
  • the socket forming the hook 15 is positioned on the cable 5 so that the stripped end 18 of this cable sinks at least 3 mm into the pad 10 when the hook and the latch are clipped in order to ensure good electrical contact and avoid the formation of ozone.
  • FIG. 2 shows a simplified potentiometric block 19, comprising the potentiometers 20 and 21.
  • the cursors of the potentiometers 20 and 21 are connected, in a manner not shown, by the cables 22 and 23 to the grids G2 and G3 respectively, of the cathode ray tube supplied by the transformer 1.
  • This potentiometric block 19 is either part of one of the printed circuits of the television set, or is fixed on one of these circuits.
  • One end of the cable 5 is connected to the transformer, the other end of the cable 5 is connected to this block, advantageously by a connection device with a conductive pad similar to that fitted to the chimney 7.
  • the cables 22 and 23 can be fixed to the block 19 permanently or removably, and in the latter case, it is also possible to use a quick coupling device and conductive pads.
  • FIG. 3 An embodiment for which the potentiometric block 24, with its potentiometers 25, 26 is fixed to one of the faces of the transformer by clipping (block 24 shown in solid lines for a first solution, and broken lines for two other possibilities).
  • the connecting cables 27 and 28 to the grids G2 and G3 of the cathode ray tube can be fixed to the block 24 permanently or removable, in the latter case also using conductive pads.
  • the removable fixing of the very high voltage cable 6, with its suction cup 6A, in the chimney 8 is similar to that of the cable 5 in the chimney 7, and will not be described in more detail.
  • the high voltage transformer can be placed on its printed circuit in the position for which the influence of its radiation on its environment is the least, and the potentiometric block can be positioned where it is easy to carry out the settings of its potentiometers.
  • Another advantage of the invention is that it makes it possible to dissociate the transformer from the potentiometric block and the corresponding cables, which simplifies repairs in the event of a failure of one of the elements.
  • the transformer manufacturer no longer has to deal with bulky cables, and the user can install the elements of the high-voltage circuit at the end of manufacturing.
