Definitions
- the invention relates to a cup chain according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a cartridge supply channel and a disk channel are arranged between the ammunition container and the firearm, in which there is an endless conveyor chain which is located on a guide rail from the ammunition container up to the firearm.
- This guide rail has a T-shaped groove, into which a corresponding T-shaped extension of the conveyor chain protrudes.
- This conveyor chain can be extended and shortened in order to keep the acceleration forces required for the ammunition supply small at the beginning and at the end of a burst of fire. In this device there is thus also a groove for lateral guidance of the cup chain.
- the known conveyor or cup chains have the disadvantage that, on the one hand, they require complex guide rails and, on the other hand, they have no means for pushing the cartridges transported up to the firearm into the weapon.
- cup chains are also described in US Pat. No. 3,720,301, DE-A 2 114 552 and US Pat. No. 3,800,937 and each have a cam with which the cartridges can be inserted into the firearm. However, this cam is not used to guide the cup chain in the cartridge feed channel.
- the object which is to be achieved with the present invention is to provide a cup chain which does not have the disadvantages mentioned, which does not require a separate guide rail in the cartridge feed channel for guiding the cup chain and which does not require any special means for combing out the cartridges from the cup chain and which can also be easily passed through a strongly curved cartridge feed channel.
- the cup chain according to the invention has, in addition to the features in the preamble of claim 1, the features in the characterizing part of claim 1.
- the cam of the one link, the sword of the preceding link and the common joint axis preferably lie in a plane arranged transversely to the direction of movement of the cup chain.
- each eyelet of a link preferably projects between two eyelets of the adjacent link, a bolt which projects through these three eyelets being held in this central eyelet by a ball joint and projecting into elongated holes in the two outer eyelets.
- each link or each cup 16 of the cup chain 13 has two first eyelets 21 to which the previous link 16 is articulated and a second eyelet 22 to which the next link 16 of the cup chain 13 is articulated.
- the second eyelet 22 of one link 16 passes between the two first eyelets 21 of the next link 16 (see FIG. 4).
- the actual cup 23 for receiving a cartridge 12 is located between these two eyelets 21 and 22.
- This cup 23 has on it the end of which has a collar 24 against which the shoulder of a cartridge case rests. This collar 24 prevents the cartridge 12 from sliding out of the cup 23 at the front.
- two feed cams 25 are attached to the cup 23, the meaning of which is explained below with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2.
- an arcuate rib 26 is provided at both ends of the cup 23.
- a sword 27 is also arranged on the second eyelet 22, through which the cup chain 13 is guided in a corresponding guide groove 28, 29 of the disk channel 18.
- the disk channel 18 is formed by a number of disks which are pivotally mounted about a common axis 35.
- a rod 36 is guided in an elongated hole 37 of the disk channel 18, which ensures that the individual disks of the disk channel 18 fan out evenly when the weapon is raised.
- this is assumed to be known and is therefore not further explained here.
- the two cams 25 of a link 16 of the cup chain 13 are supported on a guide surface 31 of the recess 19 of the disk channel 18, or on a guide surface 32 of the recess 20 of the same disk channel 18.
- the two first eyelets 21 are supported on guide surfaces 33 and 34 of the recesses 19 and 20 of the disk channel 18.
- the links 16 of the cup chain 13 are thus guided on two opposite guide surfaces 31 and 33 or 32 and 34 (see FIG. 1), which means that no additional guide rails are required.
- the individual links 16 of the cup chain 13 are connected to one another by bolts 30.
- This bolt 30 is fastened in a ball joint 38 in the eyelet 22 (FIG. 3) and projects into the elongated holes 39 of the two eyelets 21 of the adjacent link 16.
- the bolt 30, which connects two links 16 of the cup chain 13 to one another, is located approximately in one plane between the sword 27 of the one link 26 and the cam 25 of the other link 26.
- This arrangement ensures that the cup chain 13 can also be passed through a strongly curved cartridge feed channel 18 without the passage cross section having to be increased in an unfavorable manner.
- the collar 24 on the cup 23 prevents the cartridge 12, with its tip first, from sliding out of the cup 23 and with its tip against the cartridge supply channel 18. This is necessary so that the tip of the cartridge is not damaged.
- a guide surface 40 prevents the cartridge 12 from falling out of the cup 23 of the cup chain 13 in the opposite direction. 1, shortly before reaching the weapon 10, the supplied cartridges 12 reach the guide rail 17 and slide thereon to the inlet opening 11 of the weapon 10, the cam 25 of the link 16 of the cup chain 13 pushing the cartridge 12 into the weapon 10 .

Description
The invention relates to a cup chain according to the preamble of claim 1.
In a known cup chain for feeding cartridges from an ammunition container to an automatic firearm (see EP-A 0 152 549), a cartridge supply channel and a disk channel are arranged between the ammunition container and the firearm, in which there is an endless conveyor chain which is located on a guide rail from the ammunition container up to the firearm. This guide rail has a T-shaped groove, into which a corresponding T-shaped extension of the conveyor chain protrudes. This conveyor chain can be extended and shortened in order to keep the acceleration forces required for the ammunition supply small at the beginning and at the end of a burst of fire. In this device there is thus also a groove for lateral guidance of the cup chain.
The known conveyor or cup chains have the disadvantage that, on the one hand, they require complex guide rails and, on the other hand, they have no means for pushing the cartridges transported up to the firearm into the weapon.
Such cup chains are also described in US Pat. No. 3,720,301, DE-A 2 114 552 and US Pat. No. 3,800,937 and each have a cam with which the cartridges can be inserted into the firearm. However, this cam is not used to guide the cup chain in the cartridge feed channel.
The object which is to be achieved with the present invention is to provide a cup chain which does not have the disadvantages mentioned, which does not require a separate guide rail in the cartridge feed channel for guiding the cup chain and which does not require any special means for combing out the cartridges from the cup chain and which can also be easily passed through a strongly curved cartridge feed channel.
The cup chain according to the invention, with which this object is achieved, has, in addition to the features in the preamble of claim 1, the features in the characterizing part of claim 1. The cam of the one link, the sword of the preceding link and the common joint axis preferably lie in a plane arranged transversely to the direction of movement of the cup chain.
Furthermore, each eyelet of a link preferably projects between two eyelets of the adjacent link, a bolt which projects through these three eyelets being held in this central eyelet by a ball joint and projecting into elongated holes in the two outer eyelets.
- a) The cup chain can be passed through a strongly curved cartridge feed channel without difficulty, since the cam of the one link, the sword of the previous link and the common joint axis lie in a plane arranged transversely to the direction of movement of the cup chain.
- b) A special guide rail for the cup chain is not necessary, since the individual links of the cup chain are supported on two opposite walls of the cartridge supply channel and because a sword of the cup chain is guided in a groove of the cartridge supply channel.
- c) The combing out of the cartridges from the individual cups of the cup chain for the firearm is facilitated in that each link in the cup chain has a cam with which the cartridges are inserted into the firearm.
- Fig. 1 einen Schnitt nach Linie I-I in Fig. 2, teilweise in Ansicht, einer über eine Umlenkrolle geführten Becherkette neben einer Feuerwaffe;
- Fig. 2 einen Schnitt nach Linie 11-11 in Fig. 1;

- Fig. 4 das selbe Glied der Becherkette wie in Fig. 3, in einer Ansicht von vorne (Pfeil IV in Fig. 3);
- 1 shows a section along line II in FIG. 2, partially in view, of a cup chain guided over a deflection roller next to a firearm;
- Fig. 2 is a section along line 11-11 in Fig. 1;
- 3 shows a single link of the cup chain in a side view;
- Fig. 4 shows the same link of the cup chain as in Fig. 3, in a view from the front (arrow IV in Fig. 3);
- Fig. 5 shows the same link of the cup chain as in Fig. 4, in a view from above (arrow V in Fig. 4).
32 und 34 (siehe Fig. 1) geführt, wodurch keine zusätzlichen Führungsschienen erforderlich sind.2, the two
The operation of the cup chain described for feeding the cartridges from the ammunition container, through the cartridge feed channel, to an automatic firearm is as follows:
