Definitions
- the present invention relates to a tilting device applied to a non-gyrating or slowly gyrating munition, provided with a shaped load and tilting on a trajectory to attack a target from above.
- This projectile works as follows: - when approaching the objective, a detector implements the pyrotechnic process, consequently a rocket initiates on the one hand cutting cords responsible for opening the casing of the projectile to release the modules and on the other hand a delay placed in a priming device. - After the delay, the explosive plates of the impellers are initiated, the modules then being above the target, and their detonation has the effect of imparting a torque to the modules. - the delay is also connected to a winding of detonating cord which ensures the functioning of the charge formed with a second delay such that the jet of hollow charge is formed during rotation of the modules and in a position corresponding to an angle close to 90 °.
- Such a projectile has the following drawbacks: - it cannot be gyrated, on pain of missing the target; we know that it is difficult to stabilize a projectile without rotation. - the phenomenon of tilting by an explosive impeller is brutal and risks damaging the structure of the modules.
- the present invention aims to overcome these drawbacks using a device intended to generate an impulse on a structure, consisting of at least one impeller composed of an explosive plate located between a thrust plate and an inertia plate. , characterized in that the impeller comprises a damping block integral with the structure and disposed opposite the thrust plate.
- this device can generate an impulse on a structure such as for example a non-gyrating or slow-gyrating projectile, with a shaped charge and tilting on tra jectory for attacking the target from above, characterized in that it comprises several impellers distributed in a ring around the longitudinal axis of the projectile, the damping blocks associated with each impeller being arranged inside said crown, each impeller having autonomous operation, controlled by its own target detector.

- the initiation of the impellers is carried out by means of the tilting module 6 extended by detonating cords 15 and detonation relays 16.
- Each impeller forms a pair with the rear impeller situated in the same meridian plane and opposite with respect to the longitudinal axis of the projectile. Their operations are simultaneous.
- Figure 3 shows a particular type of embodiment of the impeller ring in which the damping device is in one piece and has a coating 17 at the central channel and its parallel faces.
- the device operates as follows: - on its trajectory, the projectile is subjected to a slow rotation. - when approaching an objective, it is located by one of the infrared detectors 4 which transmits the information to the central unit 5.
- the latter selects the appropriate pair of impellers and allows their initiation by the through the tilt module 6 and detonating cords 15.
- the detonation of the explosive sheets 11 projects the thrust plates 12 onto the damping material 13, the main role of which is to avoid the rebound of the projection plate on the structures, thus allowing better exploitation of the energy dispensed by the 'explosive. It then follows a couple of forces generating the pivoting of the projectile around its center of gravity as well as the position of the impellers.
- the security and arming device initiates the charge formed when its longitudinal axis is substantially perpendicular to the objective.

Abstract
