Abstract

The adjustable door or window hinge allows the pivot axis to be adjusted in a straight line relative to the door frame in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the door frame and relative to the door in a direction parallel to the plane of the door. For this purpose, there are elongate perforations which are arranged crosswise in the hinged leaves and in each of which a bearing bush can be mounted in different positions by means of axial grooves and axial ribs.

Description

The invention relates to an adjustable door or window hinge containing
  • (a) a first profile body (band blade) with fastening means for attaching the first profile body to a door or window frame with an opening running in an axial direction,
  • (b) a second profile body (band blade) with fastening means for attaching the second profile body to a door or a window with an opening which runs in the axial direction and is essentially flush with the opening of the first profile body,
  • (c) a first bearing bush which can be inserted into the opening of the first profile body in different positions and has a bearing bore, the position of which can be changed relative to the first profile body by selecting one of the said positions,
  • (d) a second bearing bush which can be inserted into the opening of the second profile body in different positions and has a bearing bore, the position of which can be changed relative to the second profile body by selecting one of the said positions, and
  • (e) a pin which is guided in the bearing bores of the first and second bearing bushes for the articulated connection of the two profile bodies.

With such door hinges, there is a need to be able to adjust the position of the pivot axis within certain limits in order to ensure that the door or window can be opened and closed without jamming.

In a known door hinge, the hook is firmly seated in an opening in the first lower profile body which is to be fastened to the door frame. The opening of the second profile body to be attached to the door has an essentially circular cross-section with four axial grooves offset by 90 ° relative to each other. A cup-shaped bearing bush is inserted into this opening in the second profile body. This has an essentially cylindrical outer lateral surface with four axial ribs, each offset by 90 ° to one another. The bearing bore of the bearing bush is eccentric to the outer surface. In this way, the bearing bush through the axis of the bearing bore certain pivot axis can be adjusted relative to the door in that the bearing bush is inserted in one of four different positions in the opening of the second profile body. In a known arrangement, a second bearing bush of the same type is used in the opening of the first profile body, so that the position of the pivot axis can also be adjusted relative to the door frame (DE-OS 30 44 674 and DE-AS 15 59 987, DE-GM 73 14 035 and DE-GM 72 20 245).

The adjustment options with rotatable bearing bushes that have eccentric bearing bores are limited. The axis of each bearing bore is adjusted along a cylinder jacket, so that e.g. an adjustment perpendicular to the plane of the door or window is inevitably connected to an adjustment parallel to this plane.

However, the pin is adjustable but not rotatable on one of the two mutually movable parts, for example the chuck in FIG. 7 of FR-A-1 145 891. This adjustable fastening of the pin is done by friction: the pin is clamped by means of a collar and a nut and washer.

This pin determines the pivot axis about which the door can be pivoted. Only an adjustment perpendicular to the level of the lining and the door is provided in order to be able to compensate for different thicknesses.

The invention has for its object to provide an adjustable door or window hinge, in which the adjustment of the pivot axis perpendicular to the plane of the window or the door can be carried out independently of an adjustment parallel to this plane.

It also consists in increasing the available adjustment range.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that
  • (f) the opening of the first profile body has two opposing inner surfaces which extend in a first direction and run at a substantially constant distance from one another,
  • (g) axial grooves are provided next to one another at equal intervals in the opposite inner surfaces of the opening of the first profile body,
  • (h) the first bearing bush has opposite outer surfaces, the dimensions of which in the said first direction are smaller than those of the inner surfaces of the opening of the first profile body,
  • (i) the first bearing bush has axial ribs next to one another at equal intervals on their opposite outer surfaces, so that they can optionally be inserted into different axial grooves of the first profile body and thus the first bearing bush can be gradually adjusted in said first direction.
  • (j) the opening of the second profile body has two opposing inner surfaces which extend in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction and run at a substantially constant distance from one another,
  • (k) in the opposite inner surfaces the opening of the second profile body, axial grooves are provided next to one another at equal intervals,
  • (l) the second bearing bush has opposite outer surfaces, the dimensions of which in the said second direction are smaller than those of the inner surfaces of the opening of the second profile body, and
  • (m) the second bearing bush has axial ribs next to one another at equal intervals on their opposite outer surfaces, so that they can optionally be inserted into different axial grooves of the second profile body and so that the second bearing bush is gradually adjustable in the said second direction.

The adjustment according to the invention is thus not carried out by an eccentric but by a straight-line adjustment of the bearing bushes in elongated openings, one bearing bushing being adjustable in one direction and the other bearing bushing in a crossed direction. One adjustment movement can take place perpendicular to the plane of the window or the door, while the second adjustment movement takes place in a direction perpendicular thereto, parallel to the plane of the window or the door.

The adjustable door or window hinge contains a first profile body 10 (hinge leaf) with fastening means 12 for attaching the first profile body 10 to a door or window frame 14. The first profile body 10 has an opening 16 running in an axial direction. The door or window hinge further contains a second profile body 18 (hinge leaf) with fastening means 20 for attaching the second profile body 18 to a door or a window 22. The second profile body 18 has an axially extending, with the opening 16 of the first profile body 10 in essential aligned breakthrough 24. A first bearing bush 26 can be inserted into the opening 16 of the first profile body 10 in different positions. The bearing bush 26 has a bearing bore 28, the bearing of which can be changed relative to the first profile body 10 by selecting one of the said positions. In the opening 24 of the second profile body 18, a second bearing bush 30 can be used in different positions. The second bearing bush 30 has a bearing bore 32, the position of which can be changed relative to the second profile body 18 by selecting one of the said positions. A pin 34 is guided in the bearing bores 28 and 32 of the first and second bearing bushes 26 and 30 and serves for the articulated connection of the two profile bodies 10 and 18. The opening 16 of the first profile body 10 is elongated and in a first direction (according to aligned in front in Fig. 1). The first bearing bush 26 can be held in the elongated opening 16 of the first profile body in various positions offset in the first direction, that is to say practically adjustable forwards and backwards in FIG. 1.

The opening 24 of the second profile body 18 is also elongated and aligned in a second direction crossed to the first direction (approximately parallel to the paper plane of FIG. 1). The second bearing bush 30 can be held in the elongated opening 24 of the second profile body 18 in various positions offset in the second direction. This allows an adjustment to the right and left in Fig. 1, by which the adjustment to the front and back in Fig. 1 is not affected. Relatively large adjustment paths can also be achieved.

42 (Fig. 6) in gleichen Abständen nebeneinander vorgesehen. In the preferred embodiment shown, the opening 16 of the first profile body 10 has two opposite inner surfaces 36 and 38 which extend in the first direction and are at a substantially constant distance from one another. In the opposite inner surfaces of the opening 16 of the first profile body 10, axial grooves 40 and 42 (FIG. 6) are provided next to one another at equal intervals. The first bearing bush 26 has opposite outer surfaces 44 and 46, the dimensions of which in the said first direction are smaller than those of the inner surfaces 36, 38 of the opening 16 of the first profile body 10. The first bearing bush 26 has axial ribs 48 and 50 next to each other at equal intervals on their opposite outer surfaces 44 and 46, so that they can optionally be inserted into different axial grooves 40 and 42 of the first profile body and thus the first bearing bush 26 in said first Direction is gradually adjustable.

58 (Fig. 4 ) in gleichen Abständen nebeneinander vorgesehen. The opening 24 of the second profile body 18 has two opposing inner surfaces 52 and 54 which extend in the second direction and run at a substantially constant distance from one another. In the opposite inner surfaces 52, 54 of the opening 24 of the second profile body 18, axial grooves 56 and 58 (FIG. 4) are provided next to one another at equal intervals. The axial grooves 56, 58 correspond to the axial grooves 42 and 40 in the inner surfaces 36 and 38, respectively. The opening 24 has the same profile as the opening 16, only offset by 90 °. This profile corresponds to the profile shown in FIG. 6 on an enlarged scale. The second bearing bush 30 has opposite outer surfaces 60, 62 (FIG. 4), the dimensions of which in the said second direction are smaller than those of the inner surfaces 52, 54 of the opening 24 of the second profile body 18. The second bearing bush 30 has axial ribs 64, 66 (FIG. 4) side by side at equal intervals on their opposite outer surfaces 60, 62, so that they can optionally be inserted in different axial grooves 56, 58 of the second profile body 18 and thus the second bearing bush 30 in said second direction is gradually adjustable.

Die Abstände der Axialrippen 48, 50 bzw. 64, 66 sind gleich den Abständen der Axialnuten 40, 42 bzw. 56, 58.The distances between the axial ribs 48, 50 and 64, 66 are equal to the distances between the axial grooves 40, 42 and 56, 58.

Axialrippen entsprechenden Schritt erfolgen. If the orientation of the bearing bushes in the openings remains unchanged, the bearing bushes can be adjusted in steps that correspond to the distance between adjacent axial ribs or axial grooves. For structural reasons, these distances cannot be less than a certain amount. A finer setting in steps of half a distance between the axial ribs or axial grooves can be done in the following way The axial grooves 40 on one inner surface 36 of the opening 16 of the profile body 10 are offset by half a distance from the axial grooves 42 on the opposite other inner surface 38. Correspondingly, the axial ribs 48 on one outer surface 44 of the bearing bush 26 are offset by half a distance from the axial ribs 50 on the opposite other outer surface 46. By inserting the bearing bush 26 in an angular position offset by 180 °, the axis of the bearing bore 28 can then be adjusted by a step corresponding to half the distance between the axial grooves or axial ribs.

The first profile body 10 has a block 68 containing the opening 16, to which a plate 70 is connected. Centering pins 101 can be pressed into block 68 (FIG. 3). With these centering pins the exact position of the tape sheet can be determined. The tape sheet is then screwed to the door or window frame by screws 72. Correspondingly, the profile body 18 contains a block 74, to which a plate 76 is connected. Two centering pins 78, 80 can be pressed into the plate 76 (FIGS. 2 and 4), by means of which the position of the band sheet on the door or window is determined. After determining the exact position of the tape sheet, this is attached to the door or window by screws 82. The screws 82 are covered by a plate 84 which can be inserted into a guide of the plate 76. The plate 84 is clamped by a grub screw 86.

As can be seen from FIGS. 7 to 9, the bearing bushes are formed by cup-shaped plastic parts provided with a flange 87.

The pin 34 consists of two parts 88 and 90. The part 88 has a blind hole 92. The part 90 has a pin attachment 96 of reduced diameter which is provided with a knurling 94 and which is press-fitted in the bore 92. An annular disk 98 made of metal is held between the end face of the part 88 and the annular shoulder of the part 90 formed around the pin extension 96. The washer 98 prevents the pin from knocking out and thus offers security against unauthorized opening of the door or window on the side of the door or window hinge.

As can be seen from FIG. 5, the arrangement described enables the pivot axis to be adjusted from a zero position in two coordinates by three millimeters in each direction.
