Abstract

The cutting block is pushed back by a crosspiece (3) along the bench (1) so as to be subjected to the action of two series of diamond blades. These blades are mounted on two frames animated by reciprocating movements oriented in opposite directions so as to ensure the balancing of forces and also to allow a more economical operation, without it being necessary to use shot. The resulting slab surfaces are practically polished.

Description

Scie alternative à deux bâtis porte-lames. Reciprocating saw with two blade holders.
The present invention relates to a machine for cutting granites, marbles and agglomerated stones, whose originality lies in the fact that it comprises two frames which are driven by alternating unidirectional movements oriented in opposite directions one of the other and which carry diamond blades suitable for obtaining thin slabs.
We know that the cutting of slabs of constant thickness made from blocks of granite of various natures is usually carried out using reciprocating saws, equipped with a series of blades which are carried by a frame and which cut the stone by abrasion using a shot of a very hard material, mixed with water and other ingredients which are brought continuously into the cutting area.
This known method involves a significant expense since the width of each cut is equal to the thickness of the blade increased by twice the thickness of the shot which moves on the sides of said blade. To this waste of stone is added the abrasive filler material which also involves a considerable accumulation of sludge. When using metallic shot for cutting slabs according to the traditional method, it is essential to carry out an immediate cleaning so as to avoid the appearance of rust spots on the stone.
It is observed that the machine is subjected to frequent stops in order to be able to adjust the tension of the blades and to replace them after their wear. The use of conventional machines involves considerable manpower because the presence of metallic shot causes frequent seizures and requires interventions on the drive members and lifting bolts. It is also necessary to provide special arrangements for the recovery and reuse of the shot.
To this operating cost of the machine is added a low rate of use of the material to be cut. Through elsewhere the cut surfaces have a mediocre appearance, so that it is necessary to carry out a finishing operation by buffing the slabs, this operation involving a considerable workforce and a high amount of abrasive. The machine according to the invention eliminates the use of hard material shot because the cutting is simply carried out by removing a thickness of stone corresponding to the width of the small plates of very hard material which are fixed on each blades with reduced thickness.
The machine according to the invention comprises two movable frames animated with alternating movements oriented in opposite directions, on each of which is mounted a series of dimensioned blades suitable for allowing the cutting of blocks of granite, marble or other stones, the blades of the two frames being arranged alternately so that a blade of one is located equidistant from two adjacent blades of the other.
The block of stone to be cut advances along a bench being pushed back by a mobile cross-member provided with support screws adjustable in position, so that said block is above all cut by the series of blades mounted on the first • frame, then during its movement along the aforementioned bench is subjected to a new operation by the diamond blades of the second frame, this second operation being carried out at equal distance from the previous cuts.
In this way, slabs with the desired thickness are obtained, by removing material along a width simply equal to the thickness of the diamond plates carried by the blades of the two frames. Another very important advantage is due to the fact that the movements of the two frames are alternating and unidirectional in opposite directions, so that the stresses to which the block is subjected during cutting are automatically compensated; it is therefore no longer necessary for the block to be firmly anchored on the bench, its advancement thereon being, on the contrary, easily obtainable by means of the only thrust exerted by the movable cross member mounted on lateral threaded rods.
A connecting rod and crank type device is provided to ensure the reciprocating movement of one of the two blade-holder frames, the second frame being connected to the first through a flail mechanism, so that the reciprocating movements of the two frames are always carried out in opposite directions. The two frames are joined at their ends by means of shafts and suitable rod systems which guarantee a regular and continuous movement in the two opposite directions.
The appended drawing, given by way of example, will allow a better understanding of the invention, the characteristics which it presents and the advantages which it is capable of providing:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing the assembly of a machine according to the invention. Fig. 2 shows the central part of the machine according to fig. 1, the lateral uprights not having been shown and a block of stone being figured during cutting.
Fig. 3 shows the interior of one of the two lateral uprights of the machine. Fig. 4 illustrates the arrangement of the cam, spring and lever mechanism provided for driving the two blade holder frames of the machine.
Fig. 5 complète la vue de fig. Fig. 5 completes the view of fig. 2 showing the connection of the two blade holder frames. As can be seen more particularly in fig. 1, the machine shown comprises a robust bench 1, provided with rollers suitable for allowing its movement; this bench 1 comprises an upper plate cut out with horizontal grooves 2, on which is intended to bear the block of stone to be sawn. The advancement of this block is operated using a front cross member 3 provided with support screws 4 which are adjusted after the bench 1 has been immobilized on the base of the machine. The displacement of the cross-member 3 is ensured by means of threaded shafts 5 and 6 rotated either by a geared motor 7 which ensures the slow movement at reduced speed of said crossover during the movement of advance thereof. , or by a motor 8 which drives the crosspiece at a faster speed during the return movement.
Once the stone block has been cut, the slabs obtained are moved on rollers mounted on a side console 9 ' , which is itself movable on rollers while being capable of being immobilized on the machine during the cutting operation. On this roller console 9 are provided guide and support elements 10 which are intended to separate and support the packets of slabs obtained.
The cutting is carried out by two frames 11 and 12 (fig. 2) which are equipped with blades 13, respectively 14 arranged in an alternating position so that the blades of a frame make cuts at intermediate positions relative to those operated by the blades of the other frame.
Appropriate tensioning devices are mounted on the frames 11 and 12. It will be observed that the blades 13 and 14 are fitted with diamond plates made of a very hard material, of the type used in the usual saws for marble. These frames 11 and 12 further include at their lower and upper ends, on each of their side, lower pivots 15 and 16, upper 17 and 18, which cooperate with two levers or flails 19, 20 (fig. 3) for- the lower pivots, 21 and 22 for the upper pivots; these flails are in turn connected by pairs of levers to the fixed support studs 23 and 24 for the lower pivots 15 and 16, respectively 26 and 27 for the upper pivots 17 and 18. A chain 38 (fig. 4 ) carried by two toothed wheels 39 of the same diameter ensures the rotation of a shaft 40 which carries at its ends two cams 41; these communicate the movement to a beam 42 which by means of levers or connecting rods 26 'and 27' (fig. 3) act on the beams 21 and 22 in order to approach a blade-holder frame of the stone block to work while moving the other away, the two frames changing position at each half-turn according to the orientation of the cranks 30 (fig. 2) associated with the aforementioned cams.
4) porté par le fléau 42.The return spring referenced 28 in fig. 3 is intended to return and permanently maintain in contact with the cams 41 the drum 44 (FIG. 4) carried by the beam 42.
2) arranged on the sides of the machine and actuated by the cranks 30 animate the frame 12 with an alternating movement which in turn transmits this movement to the frame 11 via the flails 31 fitted ± 37 rods. Note that the shaft 32 which actuates the rods 29 is driven by a belt transmission 33 (Fig. 1) associated with an electric motor 34 mounted on the upper bridge 35 of the machine. The flails 31 are connected together by a shaft 45
(fig. This crosspiece 47 has not been shown in FIG. 1 so as not to overload the drawing; it will be noted that it extends parallel to the trigger guard 35 which joins the two uprights 48 and 49.
The advantages obtained by adopting the machine according to the invention are easily understood. The two blade-holder frames, preferably oriented obliquely and driven by alternating rectilinear unidirectional movements, opposite one another, ensure a significant increase in the cutting speed, and this as a result of the balancing carried out in the forces which are exercised on the block of stone during work. It will also be noted that the use of diamond blades with reduced thickness makes it possible to reduce the thickness of the cut and thus to save material, at the same time as avoiding the use of shot mixed with wash water and properly cooled.
Another advantage obtained lies in the fact that the marble, granite or agglomerated stone slabs cut by the machine according to the invention have a practically polished surface which requires only a very slight finishing operation. In addition, the cutting carried out using diamond blades makes it possible to reduce the costs as a result of the recovery, in decanting vessels, of the water which ensures the immediate washing of the slabs, this water being thus able to be recycled.
It should moreover be understood that the foregoing description has been given only by way of example and that it in no way limits the field of the invention from which one would not depart by replacing the execution details described by all other equivalents.
