Abstract

A connecting arrangement comprises a crimp barrel which is crimped against the outer conductor of a coaxial cable and contains a shield wire to be connected to a wrap post of a terminal strip, and a holding device which engages the cable over the edge of the terminal strip board. Two clips are integrally formed on the ends of the holding device. One of the clips clasps the outer diameter of the coaxial cable below the strip board, and the other clip surrounds the insulated inner conductor of the coaxial cable above the strip board.

Description

Coaxial cable connections of the design specified in the preamble of claim 1 are generally used in devices for communications technology.

Such connections are made in a known manner by means of commercially available manifolds. Such a connecting elbow, which forms a bent metal tube, consists of two shell halves produced by the die casting process. After inserting the appropriately prepared coaxial cable, the shell halves are folded together, with their threaded connection on the connection side, inserted up to a flange from below through a hole in the female connector and screwed onto the strip plate from above using a ring nut. One on a shell half of the connecting elbow with a molded-on attachment is arranged in this position on the long side of the plate. In the approach, a winding pin is attached, via which a wire winding connection to the corresponding winding pin is made on the last plate.

The connection elbow is provided with a threaded connector on the cable entry side. When the associated hexagon nut is screwed on, an earthing sleeve is pressed against the braided shield of the correspondingly stripped coaxial cable, whereby the earthing connection is made via the elbow and winding pin to the female connector. The end of the stripped inner conductor protruding from the connection elbow above the female connector is directly connected to a winding pin.

Such manifolds are expensive. They consist of six different individual parts, which cause relatively cumbersome and time-consuming assembly work. In addition, they take up so much space in terms of volume that only every second hole can be used on the female connector.

From US-A-4 169 650 a connector housing for the connection of coaxial cables is known, in which a socket strip is fastened to the base plate in the edge region of one long side and a connecting strip parallel to it in the edge region of its other long side. The rear connections of the socket strip consist of winding posts extending parallel to the base plate. The connection strip serves as an earthing strip, which also has winding posts on the front facing the socket strip and also has contact tongues on the back. The outer conductor of the coaxial cable is connected to this. The connection consists of a crimp sleeve attached to the outer cable end on the outer conductor with a protruding plug-in shoe which is plugged onto the contact tongue of the grounding strip. The inner conductor protruding from the cable end, however, is wound on a post of the socket strip. The grounding strip is also connected to a post of the socket strip via a wire winding connection.

Eine am Haltewinkel ausgebildete Lötfahne dient dem weiteren Anschluß des Kabelhalters.US-A-2 798 113 also describes a cable holder that can be screwed to a mounting plate for the ground connection of a coaxial cable, the outer conductor of which consists of a braided shield. The cable holder is made in two parts. It consists of an outer sleeve that is welded to the saddle-shaped support of a bracket. The outer sleeve is squeezed together with an inner sleeve pushed under the widened end of the stripped braided shield. In this way, the coaxial cable is mechanically permanently attached to the cable holder and the braided shield is electrically connected to it. A solder tab formed on the bracket serves for the further connection of the cable holder.

Finally, from US-A-4 183 603 a clamp used in heavy current technology is known for preventing the unintentional disconnection of an electrical plug coupling. The latter consists of two coupling halves designed as a plug part and a socket part, each of which is connected to an electrical cable. The clip is a U-shaped metal strip that is overmolded with insulating material so that the U-legs each contain a hole and a slot for pressing the electrical cable into the hole. If the connecting cable of the plug-in coupling is pressed into the holes, the limbs of the clip engage behind the inserted coupling halves and prevent their separation.

The invention has for its object to improve the coaxial cable connection according to the preamble of claim 1, so that each bushing can be occupied with a coaxial cable in the female connector. This object is achieved according to the invention by the constructive measures specified in the characterizing part of this claim. Advantageous embodiments of the subject matter of claim 1 can be found in the subclaims.

Such a connection consists only of three different items, one of which is just a piece of wire and the ferrule is a cheap, commercially available fastener. Because the holder is made of plastic and is simple in design, it can be mass-produced. The storage of the required parts takes up little space. Their assembly is limited to a few simple steps, which means that cable connections can be made in a simple manner with full occupancy of the female connectors, which cause significantly less costs than before.

eine Federleiste mit zwei in unmittelbar benachbarten Druchführungen befestigten Koaxialkabeln, in perspektivischer Ansicht;
Fig. 2
einen Halter zur Befestigung eines Koaxialkabels an der Federleiste, längsgeschnitten;
Fig. 3
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment shown in a drawing as follows. The drawing shows:
Fig. 1
a female connector with two coaxial cables attached in immediately adjacent bushings, in a perspective view;
Fig. 2
a holder for attaching a coaxial cable to the female connector, cut longitudinally;
Fig. 3
1 during the production of a cable connection, partially in section, in a perspective view.

It consists of a strip plate 2, which passes through a series of holes 4 at a short distance from a long side 3. On the other long side, a connector strip 5 and between this and the row of bores 4, a connector panel consisting of winding pins 6 is arranged.

A step-like stripped coaxial cable 7 is used to establish a connection, in which the end of the outer conductor 9 freed from the outer cable jacket 8 carries a crimp sleeve 10. The crimp sleeve 10 is pushed onto the outer conductor 9 together with a previously loosely inserted shield wire 11 and fastened to it by deformation. Of course, the shield wire 11 can also be welded or soldered to the crimp sleeve beforehand 10 be attached. A partial length of the still insulated inner conductor protrudes from the outer conductor 9, which consists for example of a tubular wire mesh. After the coaxial cable 7 provided with the crimp sleeve 10 and the shield wire 11 has been pushed through the bore 4 to be occupied in the female connector 1, the cable end is fastened to the strip plate 2 with a holder 12.

The essentially U-shaped holder 12 consists of a one-piece injection molded plastic body, in each of which an elastic bracket 13, 14 is formed on both ends. A space is formed between the clamps 13, 14, into which, after the holder 12 has been fastened, the crimp sleeve 10 protruding from the bore 4 of the female connector 1 protrudes. The lower bracket 13 consists of a slotted bore 15, the diameter of which is equal to the outer diameter of the coaxial cable 7. Immediately following this clamp 13, a recess 17 is provided on the inside 16 of the holder 12, the height of which is matched to the plate thickness of the female connector 1. The upper bracket 14 also consists of a slotted bore 18, the diameter of which is somewhat larger than the diameter of the insulation 19 of the inner conductor.

To attach the coaxial cable 7 to the female connector 1, the holder 12 is simply pressed against the ledge plate 2 until the latter completely fills the recess 17 in the holder 12. Here, the lower bracket 13 snaps over the outer cable sheath 8, while the insulation 19 of the inner conductor is pressed into the upper bracket 14. The coaxial cable 7 and the holder 12 are thus already fixed to the female connector 1 and the stripped end of the inner conductor and that of the outer conductor 9 coming shield wire can be wound on the corresponding pins 6. Because the holder 12 only needs to be slightly wider than the coaxial cable 7, all of the bores 4 of the female connector 1 can be occupied, the holders 12, which overlap the long side 3 of the strip plate 2, sit side by side without gaps.
