Description

The invention relates to a movement joint strip made of plastic material, in particular for the edge joint of a floor construction, which movement joint strip is intended with a part of its cross section for fitting under a wall skirt edge and with another part for sealing closure with a covering material in the base area, for this purpose a contact element, which is a Forms contact surface for the wall base edge and has a demarcation and sealing strip, which is located next to the contact element and with part of its outer surface separates and seals off parts of the adjacent covering material from the wall base.

According to the guidelines published in 1980 "Ceramic tiles, natural stone and concrete stone on heated floor constructions" of the Central Association of the German Building Industry, the edge joint between the floor covering and the skirting board must be cut out at least 5 mm wide. It is to be closed with elastic joint sealants. There must be no rigid connection anywhere. Tiles, ceramic plates or a mortar surface are suitable as covering materials. The "elastic grout" forms the conclusion between a baseboard and the wall area of the covering material. It is subsequently injected in a manner known per se and consists of permanently elastic silicone-based putties. In the same complex way, joints between window frame base and plate-shaped window sill are filled, which also vary in width due to different thermal expansion of the materials of the frame and window sill.

The disadvantage of this known solution in the edge joint area is that when laying the covering material, ie. H. in particular of floor slabs or also of plate-shaped window sills, no defined stop and no compensating seal are available. The subsequent spraying of the edge joint is also very time-consuming and in many cases leads to aesthetically unsatisfactory solutions. In the known solution, the shrinking of the insulation has often resulted in flanking of the joints between wall and floor tiles or window frames and sills.

Movement joint strips can be used to avoid the disadvantages described. From US-A-3,638,374 a movement bar of the aforementioned generic type is known, which is an extruded plastic profile that is equipped with relatively thin-walled webs that are only slightly thickened in a sealing lip. When using this known movement bar, a partition is practically pulled down to the screed level. This partition wall rests between a web and the sealing lip on the thin bottom web of the movement bar. Such a construction leads, however, when the partition consists of a tile covering, to a rigid connection, which is to be avoided in the present invention. Since there is no resilient connection between the floor bridge referred to as the contact element and the wall covering, subsequent shrinkage of the structural elements, for example insulation, leads to tears and joints which are undesirable.

The object of the present invention is to avoid the disadvantages described and to provide a movement joint strip which is suitable for various wall coverings and which allows an edge joint between the floor covering and the skirting board to be cut out at least 5 mm wide and to ensure the sealing of the edge joint area even during long standing times.

This object is achieved with a movement joint strip of the type mentioned above in that the contact element is designed as a base step which can be compressed by the wall base edge and which is connected to a web which also carries the delimitation and sealing strips and on the side facing the covering material in a footbridge expires.

The movement joint strip according to the invention results in a permanent and practically maintenance-free solution for various end joints in which horizontal and vertical insulation are required. The new movement joint strip also prevents tears.

The consequences of so-called breakdowns, i. H. Lifting and then setting down the screed slab in the corner areas are mastered by the new movement joint strips. The strips are suitable for practically all areas of application between wall and floor tiles, plinth and floor tiles, window frames and benches, bathtub edges and adjoining walls, using natural stone, cast stone, plastic, wood or textile floor coverings on both sides of the movement joint strip in Question come.

A movement joint strip has proven itself in practice, in which the plinth level and the delimitation and sealing strips are underlaid with a web made of relatively stiff plastic, which may optionally have an expansion compensation kink between the plinth level and delimitation and sealing strips. The side of the demarcation and sealing strip facing the covering material preferably runs out into a footbridge, which can serve as an attachment for the covering material.

The demarcation and sealing strip advantageously has a sealing lip protruding at its upstanding upper end.

To increase the elasticity and to improve the expansion volume, cavities can be embedded in the profile. These cavities can, for example, occupy up to a third of the cross-sectional area belonging to the higher step or open at the bottom be. It should not be excluded that there are cavities within the profile that extend into the area of the lower step. However, since less strong joint movements generally occur in the area of the lower step, solid material should be used here.

It was initially defined that the expansion joint strips were made of plastic material. The material can be relatively soft in the areas where it must be flexible and should bridge larger compensation distances; however, it is also possible to push through the profile in a skeletal manner with stiffening profiles or a reinforcing profile, the legs of the stiffening profile being able to form edge strips and / or footbridges.

The movement joint strip 10 shown in Figures 1 and 2 consists of plastic material; it essentially has three parts: a base step 11, which forms an elastic contact surface for a wall base edge 5 ", and a demarcation and sealing strip 12, which is connected to the base step 11 via a relatively rigid web 13. The basement step 11 and the demarcation and sealing strip 12 are made of relatively soft material (soft polyvinyl chloride), while the web 13 is made of rigid PVC, and the movement joint strip 10 as a whole is coextruded.

Die Zusammendrückbarkeit ist in Figur 2 demonstriert. The base step 11 is designed to achieve an improved compressibility as a rectangular channel with a cavity 11 ". The compressibility is demonstrated in FIG. 2.

The delimiting and sealing strip 12 is suitable as a sealing end to a covering material 3. At its upper end 12 ', it has a resilient sealing lip 12' 'which protrudes like a covering on the facing side and has a slightly oblique downward projection.

An example of use is shown in FIG. The movement joint strip 10 serves to seal and fill a movement joint between a wall base 5 and a tile covering 3. The substructure 1 is screed on which the movement joint strip 10 is placed, glued or nailed. The sealing lip 12 ″ at the upper end 12 ′ of the second part 12 of the strip 10 lies after the insertion of the tiles 3 ′ under elastic pressure on the upper side 3 ″ thereof.

The movement joint strip 10 can also be used, for example, on the lower edge of a window opening instead of in the above-described floor area, with a window sill replacing the tiles.

Figur 3 zeigt den Bereich einer Randfuge bei einer Fußbodenkonstruktion, wobei die Verhältnisse leicht schematisiert dargestellt sind, mit einer anderen Ausführungsform der Bewegungsfugenleiste.FIG. 3 shows the area of an edge joint in a floor construction, the conditions being shown in a slightly schematic manner, with another embodiment of the movement joint strip.

On a load-bearing concrete layer (not shown), a screed layer is applied as a substructure 1, which carries a mortar bed 2. A covering material is applied to the mortar bed 2, which expands further to the right in the drawing, here a floor tile.

In the area of a wall 4, a skirting board ends as a wall base 5 just above the screed layer. In particular when installing floor heating in or below the screed, considerable longitudinal displacements of the floor covering are to be expected, so that a movement joint 6 is present between the edge of the tile covering and the wall base 5 have to be. An insulating edge strip 7 is usually also provided between the screed layer and the wall 4. The expansion joint 6 is filled by an expansion joint strip 10 according to the invention.

In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 3, the movement joint strip 10 consists uniformly of an elastic plastic material. The core of the cross section of the movement joint strip 10 is L-shaped. The lower base level 11 is firmly fitted into the area between the screed layer (substructure 1), optionally including the mortar bed 2 and the wall base 5, and pushed in somewhat compressed.

A higher step 12, which connects in one piece to the lower base step 11, fills the movement joint 6 between the front of the wall base 5 and the side edge 3 'of the covering material 3 as a delimitation and sealing strip 12. Their height is adapted to the height of the construction, measured from the top of the screed. Between the side edge 3 'of the covering material 3 and the lower edge 5 "or front of the wall base and the corresponding sides of the expansion joint strip 10, an adhesive layer 14 or 14' can also ensure a better fit of the expansion joint strip 10 within the expansion joint 6.

The profile of the movement joint strip 10 has a groove-shaped, downwardly open cavity 16 within the delimitation and sealing strip 12, which has the ability to be compressed of the expansion joint profile is improved and the expansion capability of the compressed expansion joint strip 10 is increased. In addition, any excess mortar material can be accommodated in this cavity 16, so that the adaptation in the vertical direction is also improved.

Dieser Fußsteg 17 verbessert die Anlagegenauigkeit der Bodenfliesen-Kante an die Bewegungsfugenleiste 10.Furthermore, a foot bridge 17 is provided in the standing area of the delimitation and sealing strip 12, which protrudes beyond the front of the delimitation and sealing strip and projects under the covering material 3. This footbridge 17 improves the contact accuracy of the floor tile edge with the movement joint strip 10.

Dort bildet es eine Umrandung 21, ebenfalls in L-Form, des Hohlraums 16.FIG. 4 shows a further embodiment of the movement joint strip 10 similar to that of FIG. 3, which consists of two different, coextruded materials. While the area of the movement joint strip 10 facing the wall consists of a relatively soft material, in particular soft PVC, a stiffening profile 19 is provided in the area facing the floor covering, which has a characteristic shape that can be seen in cross section from FIG. In particular, the stiffening profile 19 has an L configuration, one leg 20 of which forms an edge web which extends practically over the entire height of the front of the delimitation and sealing strip 12 and thus forms the connection to the adhesive layer 14 and to the covering material 3. The lower leg of the stiffening profile 19 forms the footbridge 17, with the stiffer material (rigid PVC) also achieving a higher torsional strength and higher absorption capacity of this profile area. The stiffening profile 19 thus penetrates the movement joint strip 10 and also runs in the core of the movement joint strip 10. There it forms a border 21, likewise in an L shape, of the cavity 16.

This movement joint strip 10 can also be used in accordance with the installation situation shown in FIG. 3.

Figur 5 zeigt ebenfalls den Bereich einer Bewegungsfuge 6 bei einer Fußbodenkonstruktion, die eine ähnliche Situation darstellt, wie die der Figur 3.FIG. 5 also shows the area of a movement joint 6 in a floor construction, which represents a situation similar to that of FIG. 3.

On the substructure 1, a screed layer is applied, which carries a mortar bed 2. A floor tile is applied to the mortar bed as a covering material. In the area of a wall 4, the wall base edge 5 "ends just above the screed. A movement joint 6 is to be kept free between the edge 14 of the covering material 3 and a wall base 5, consisting of base tiles. An insulating edge strip 7 is provided between the screed 1 and wall 4. The movement joint 6 is filled by a movement joint strip 10 '.

The movement joint strip 10 'according to FIG. 5 is formed from two materials, namely from an elastic plastic material which is stepped in an L-shape and from a stiffening profile 19' which is connected in a skeletal manner to the soft material of the core. The result is a lower base step 11, which is firmly fitted into the area between the substructure 1, possibly including a mortar bed 2, and the lower wall base edge 5 "and pushed in somewhat in a compressed manner. The delimitation and sealing strip 12 has a desk-like, slightly concave top side 31, The demarcation and sealing strip 12 fills the movement joint 6 between the front of the wall base 5 and the side edge 3 'of the covering material, the height of which is adapted to the height of the screed, measured from the top edge of the screed 3 'of the floor tile and the bottom or front of the wall base 5, an adhesive layer can also be provided.

The profile of the core of the movement joint strip 10 'has a groove-shaped, downwardly closed cavity 16' within the delimitation and sealing strip 12. The cavity 16 'improves the compression properties of the profile.

Furthermore, the stiffening profile 19 ′ forms a footbridge 17 in the area of the delimitation and sealing strip, which protrudes beyond the front side and projects under the covering material 3. The stiffening profile 19 'can be glued to the outside of the movement joint strip or co-extruded with it. One leg 20 of the stiffening profile 19 'forms an edge web which extends practically over the entire height of the delimitation and sealing strip 12 and thus forms the connection to the floor tile.

Opposite the foot bridge 17, the stiffening profile continues and forms a floor bridge 22 which has an expansion compensation kink 23 in the region of the cavity 16 '. This ensures that the movement joint strip 10 'can also absorb a slight compression towards the wall and conversely also a buckling of the covering material 3 downwards or upwards, the convergence point 24 of the edge web 20, floor web 22 and foot web 17 approximately forming the pivot point.

Elongation compensation kinks of the aforementioned type can also be present in the webs already described according to the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 1.

Sie kann auch zum Ausfüllen von Fugen bei Sanitärteilen, Möbeln oder im Fenster- und Türbereich dienen.FIGS. 6 and 7 show a movement joint strip 30 which is intended to supplement the exemplary embodiments described above and is to be installed in particular where the vertical floor expansion has reached its final state, but a further expansion in the horizontal direction must be ensured. It is especially intended for the restoration of torn, embrittled joint fillers. It can also be used to fill joints in sanitary parts, furniture or in the window and door area.

Gleichzeitig bildet er die Begrenzung zur Fuge 35.The movement joint strip 30 according to FIGS. 6 and 7 essentially consists of two parts. The base 11 'can be compressed, as shown in FIG. 7. The base step is inserted under the wall base. The demarcation and sealing strip 32 has a dam-like shape, that is, at its foot region 33 it is greatly widened compared to the tip 34. The higher delimitation and sealing strip 32 is also separated by a joint 35 from the base step 11 ', which must be compressible independently of this. The movement joint strip according to FIGS. 6 and 7 is stiffened by a stiffening profile 39 which essentially has a lying L-shape. The horizontal L-leg 36 is anchored in the lower third of the baseboard 11 '; it can also form a floor web, as shown in the previous exemplary embodiments. The vertical L-leg 37 forms the back of the delimitation and sealing strip 32. It therefore prevents the compression in the vertical direction of this part. At the same time, it forms the boundary to joint 35.

As the installation example according to FIG. 7 shows, the compressed body of the skirting board is pushed under a wall base 5, filling the area between the lower edge of the wall base and the covering material 3, which in this embodiment protrudes up to below the wall base. The demarcation and sealing strip 32 forms a seal which fills the angular area between the front of the wall base, the movement joint 6 and the floor tile. This creates a reliable seal, especially in so-called refurbishment, in which existing installation situations must be assumed. The parts can also be glued with sealing adhesive to the existing base and floor covering parts, so that the tightness is increased.
