Definitions

  • the invention relates to a pickup device with at least two microphones for acoustic stringed instruments, in particular for acoustic guitars.
  • Known pickup devices of this type usually have a holder for the microphones attached to the outer surface of the acoustic guitar.
  • the installation of microphones in the resonance room is also known.
  • it is important to achieve damping in the low middle frequency range, since without damping the natural resonance of the instrument can be greater than 30 dB.
  • Even highly sensitive microphones, which are in any case very expensive, do not bring a satisfactory solution for the musician, acoustic guitars whose natural resonance lies in the low middle frequency range (approx. 150-300 Hz) are in the most varied versions of quality on the market.
  • the invention is based on the object of designing a pickup device of the type mentioned at the outset from the point of view of cost-saving mass production and universal replaceability for almost all types of acoustic stringed instruments, in particular for all types of acoustic guitars, in such a way that it provides damping which the frequency behavior is linearized.
  • the pickup device should be easy and quick to use.
  • this object is achieved by means of a guide channel for the microphones and feed lines comprising foam pad which can be fitted by clamping into the sound hole of the instrument, the outwardly directed end face of the foam pad being positively positionable with the outer surface of the resonance body of the instrument, and the microphones being storable in the foam pad such that the surface each microphone head in the resonance body of the instrument is freely accessible to the sound waves.
  • the pickup device according to the invention ensures excellent damping of the natural resonance, since the frequency behavior in the region of the low, middle frequencies is linearized by the foam.
  • the foam cushion piece can consist of any suitable damping material. Foamed plastics are preferred.
  • the foam cushion piece can simply be inserted by hand into the sound hole of the instrument and ensures safe guidance of the microphone feed lines and secure holding of the microphones.
  • the microphones of the pickup device according to the invention can be of the simplest type and simple quality without the linearization of the frequency behavior being impaired.
  • the pickup device according to the invention can be used universally for a large number of acoustic stringed instruments, in particular for all types of acoustic guitars, and can be quickly produced as a cost-saving mass article.
  • FIG. 1 is a plan view of a guitar with the inventive pickup device inserted in the hole
  • FIG. 2 is a view of a section along line 2-2 in FIG. 1
  • FIG. 1 shows a top view of an acoustic guitar 1, in the sound hole 2 of which a foam cushion piece 3 is fitted in a clamped manner, as is particularly illustrated by the view of the section along the line 2-2 in FIG. 1 shown in FIG. 2.
  • the outwardly directed end face 4 of the foam cushion piece 3 is essentially form-fitting with the outer surface 5 of the resonance body 6 of the guitar 1 and extends in its tam ⁇ ponically clamped state over the entire depth of the resonance body 6 to its bottom surface 7.
  • the foam cushion piece 3 fitted into the sound hole 2 sits securely between the edge of the sound hole and the base surface 7 due to its spring-back property and is covered by the short lower edge 8 of the end part 9 of the fingerboard 10 of the guitar 1, which is slightly above the sound hole 2 can extend, additionally secured against removal.
  • the feed line 11 bifurcates at the lower end of the guide channel 14 into two separate feed lines 23 and 24 which each run through one of the larger guide channels 15 and 16 and are connected to the corresponding microphone 19 and 20.
  • a piece of felt (not shown) can be placed in the state in which it is fitted in the sound hole 2 in order to achieve a completely flat finish with the ceiling 27 of the resonance body 6 of the guitar 1.
