Description

The invention relates to a printing unit, in particular for an offset rotary printing machine with a blanket cylinder, the diameter of which is twice as large as the diameter of the associated plate cylinder, so that two printed images can be produced and can be stretched out on the blankets using documents.

Such a printing unit is known from the older, unpublished EP-A-0182156. From the specialist book by Welenski, "Introduction to offset printing", Eggen-Fachbuch series, 1975, pages 283 to 303, it is further known to underlay the rubber blankets to be clamped onto a blanket cylinder so that a certain diameter is reached. In the generic machine, the plate cylinder rolls twice on the blanket cylinder during one revolution of the blanket cylinder as a result of the predetermined diameter ratios, so that two identical print images are produced on one print carrier with one revolution of the rubber blanket cylinder. It has been found that due to the increasingly emerging rubber blanket there are qualitative differences between these two printed images, which can be shown, for example, in that the color intensity of one print image differs from the color intensity of the other print image. By means of a depression in the cylinder or an interruption in the elevator according to EP-A-0 182 156, the rubber blanket bead is therefore given the opportunity to relax. The abrupt dismantling of the bead does not, however, prevent the differences in printed images that have arisen or have arisen during its construction or deteriorations in quality caused by manufacturing tolerances, e.g. due to tolerances on the cylinders that are noticeable while the machine is running. These can also not be prevented with the film documents according to DE-B-1 201 854 which can be swelled according to the printed image, since the printed image differences occurring or ascertainable during printing cannot thereby be compensated for. The same applies to the spiral-shaped rubber blanket cylinders according to FR-A-2 157 464, the circumferential contour of which is defined once during manufacture and therefore cannot be changed.

In diesen zeigen:

  • Fig. 1 eine schematische Darstellung eines Offset-Druckwerkes und
  • Fig. 2 erfindungsgemäße Ausbildungen der Gummituchunterlagen.
The object of the invention is to improve the generic machine so that the quality and thus the optical appearance of the two printed images can be matched to one another in a simple and flexible manner. This object is achieved by applying the features of the characterizing part of patent claim 1. The two printed images can thus be adapted to one another in a simple and individual manner by appropriate selection of the documents. Advantageous developments of the invention result from the subclaim and from the description in conjunction with the drawings. In these show:
  • Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of an offset printing unit and
  • Fig. 2 training of the blanket pads according to the invention.

Fig. 1 shows a printing unit which comprises two plate cylinders 1, and two blanket cylinders 3, 4. The diameters of the blanket cylinders 3, 4 correspond to twice the value of the diameters of the plate cylinders 1 and 2. In the usual way, the plate cylinders 1, 2 can be covered with offset printing plates and the blanket cylinders 3 and 4 can be covered with blankets, for which purpose the cylinder pits, which are not described in more detail, are provided with appropriate clamping means are. A print carrier 11 can be printed on both sides between the blanket cylinders 3 and 4. Of course, a conventional impression cylinder can also be used instead of the second blanket cylinder 4. Both webs and sheets can be processed with such pressure values.

With one revolution of the double-sized blanket cylinders 3 and 4, the plate cylinders 1 and 2 each rotate twice, so that two identical printed images are formed on the circumference of each blanket cylinder 3 and 4, which are transferred to the printing medium 11. As already mentioned at the beginning, the two printed images A and B, which should have an identical appearance from a theoretical point of view, are not the same in practice.

According to the invention, blanket pads 5, 6 are used, the thickness of which, seen in the circumferential direction, differs from conventional practice. Preferably, only the thickness of the portion of the rubber blanket underlay 5 and 6 receiving the second printed image B changes, while the area of the underlay 5 and 6 assigned to the first printed image A is formed uniformly, that is to say has a constant diameter.

4 erstreckender Keil 12 auf einer Unterlage 11 verwendet.2a shows the areas 7 and 8 of the base 5 separated by X for one of the blanket cylinders 3 or 4. Accordingly, the diameter of the base 5 in the first area 7, which comes to lie below the printed image A, is uniform, while it is in the second Area 8 becomes increasingly thicker seen in the circumferential direction. FIG. 2a shows the most preferred embodiment of the underlay 5 according to the invention, while FIG. 2b shows a further variant in which the area 9 under the first printed image A has a uniform thickness, while the area 10 below the printed image B decreases in the circumferential direction. According to FIG. 2c, a wedge 12 extending over the entire circumference of the double-sized blanket cylinder 3 or 4 is used on a base 11.

By using the documents 5 and 6 according to the invention, a qualitative improvement of the printed products can be achieved.
