Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for storing people, in particular newborns, in a lying position, with an elastically deformable mat which has a filler body which is enveloped by an outer skin.
- Such a device is e.g. used to store newborns, especially premature babies, in incubators when transported in ambulances or ambulances. So far, water has been used as filler, which is filled into the envelope formed from it through an opening in the plastic film that can be closed with a lid.
- Such a device has a number of disadvantages.
- the shell has little stretch. Due to the incompressibility of the water and the low elasticity of the cover, the mat becomes a relatively hard surface, which, due to the transport caused by vibrations, transfers the vehicle to the head and body of the newborn almost undamped, creating a considerable risk of injury to the newborn. To make matters worse, the mat needs a free space around itself in order to be able to bulge appropriately at one point at another point. If there is no free space because, like in an incubator, the mat is delimited by solid walls on several sides, the mat in an incubator becomes even harder than it already is due to the low elasticity of the casing.
- the known device also has the disadvantage that it gives the newborn little hold against slipping on the mat caused by external acceleration forces, such as braking forces, and no protection against hitting the head against the walls of the incubator as a result of such slipping. Especially with newborns but there is a considerable risk of head injury when touching hard objects. Furthermore, there is the disadvantage that the mat has a relatively high thermal conductivity, so that after a relatively short period of storage of the newborn on the mat there is a risk of hypothermia. Last but not least, there is also the disadvantage that leaks can occur in the casing or at the filling opening, which lead to the ineffectiveness of the device. In addition, leakage of water can adversely affect the health of the newborn and / or the functionality of the incubator.
- the object of the invention is to design the generic device so that a safe, soft and heat-favorable storage of a person in a lying position is made possible, a suitable elastic deformability of the mat should be ensured in the long run.
- the object of the invention is achieved in that the packing consists of addition-crosslinking two-component silicone rubber or uncrosslinked or low-crosslinked polyurethane containing an external plasticizer and the outer skin consists of a polyurethane film or a silicone layer.
- the device according to the invention makes it possible to store a person to be transported in a soft, elastic and largely non-slip manner, the low thermal conductivity of the material combination according to the invention preventing the mat from noticeably extracting heat from the person.
- the device according to the invention is particularly suitable as a pad for newborns when transported in incubators, because it protects the newborn against injuries and harmful cooling.
- the device according to the invention is easy to handle due to its one-piece design. It also has the advantage that the packing does not emerge from its casing, even if the film has a hole or a tear.
- the mat has a trough-shaped head part.
- the person to be transported is placed on the mat so that its head lies in the trough-shaped head part of the mat. This prevents the head from touching the wall of the incubator in the event of a possible displacement of the newborn due to high acceleration forces, such as can occur when braking, cornering or an accident involving the ambulance or the ambulance.
- a secure positioning of the person on the mat of the device according to the invention is promoted if the head part of the mat has a depression for the back of the head and a bulge for the neck.
- Unavoidable vibrations of the vehicle or unavoidable impacts that act on the vehicle are not transmitted to the particularly vulnerable head of the newborn if, according to a further embodiment of the invention, the head part of the mat is thicker than the plate-shaped foot part of the mat.
- the mat can be arranged in a trough of a block of soft integral or coated soft foam according to a further embodiment of the invention.
- soft integral and soft foam are understood to mean an artificially produced, soft-elastic foam plastic with a cellular structure.
- the soft integral or flexible foam used for the device according to the invention is made of polyurethane.
- the block is made from coated soft foam according to a conventional method in that the foamable mixture in with a plastic film dressed form is entered. This gives a ready-to-use combination of a plastic top layer and soft-elastic foam.
- a closed cover layer of the same material is formed around the cellular core.
- the lying properties of the device according to the invention can be further improved if the filling body of the mat consists of at least two layers which have different hardnesses and can be separated from one another by a plastic film which is firmly connected to the outer skin.
- a device in which the outer skin consists of two welded or fused together along its edges is particularly advantageous in terms of production technology Polyurethane films exist.
- the separating film is preferably also a polyurethane film which is welded or fused along its edge to the edges of the films forming the outer skin.
- the thickness of the film or films for the outer skin and that of the separating film, if present, is in the range between 0.01 and 0.08 mm.
- the film on the top of the mat and the separating film preferably each have a thickness of 0.025 mm, while the film on the underside of the mat preferably has a thickness of 0.05 mm.
- the thickness of the film or films selected according to the invention makes a significant contribution to achieving the excellent lying properties of the device according to the invention.
- the device according to the invention is also outstandingly suitable as a permanent base for premature births in incubators if no transport is provided. So far, premature babies have been stored in incubators on cloths or the like. Surprisingly, it has been found in experiments in hospitals that children feel much more comfortable in incubators when they are lying on a mat according to the invention. This effect is probably due to the fact that the child has a lying feeling on the mat according to the invention similar to that in the womb. It can be assumed that this feeling of lying results from the fact that the material used for the packing has approximately the same consistency as the human tissue.
- Another advantage of the device according to the invention is that all the materials used are physiologically completely harmless.
- the device according to the invention is primarily suitable and intended for newborns, in particular for premature babies, it is not limited to this application purpose, but can also be used for bed if necessary confused patients can be used as a mat for the prevention and treatment of bedsores and as a mat for accidental injuries or the like, which are soft, elastic and yet stable.
- a device consists of an elastically deformable mat 10, which has a substantially rectangular shape in plan view and is dimensioned so that it fits into an incubator.
- the mat 10 consists of a plate-shaped base part 11 and a trough-shaped head part 12.
- the trough-shaped formation is produced in that an edge 13 is formed on the two long sides of the head part 12 and on the left end of the head part 12 in FIGS. 1 and 2, which projects beyond an adjacent surface 14 on the top of the head part.
- the edge 13 runs obliquely downwards on the sides of the head part, as can be seen in FIG. 1, and gradually merges into the foot part 11.
- the inner surface 14 of the head part 12 has a depression 15 which is approximately adapted to the shape of the back of the head of a newborn.
- a bead 16 adjoining the depression 15 on the inner surface 14 of the head part 12 is adapted to the shape of the neck of the newborn.
- the newborn can be stored relatively stably on the mat 10, the raised edge 13 on the head part 12 of the mat 10 providing additional protection against contact of the head with the hard incubator wall which surrounds the mat 10 if it is placed in the incubator.
- the area 14 of the head part 12, seen in cross section, is thicker than the foot part 11, so that impacts and vibrations of the vehicle introduced into the mat 10 are so strongly damped that they are not transmitted to the head of the newborn.
- the mat 10 of the device according to the invention is made in one piece and consists of an elastically deformable filler body 17, which is encased by an elastic outer skin 18.
- the packing consists either of a resiliently soft addition-curing two-component silicone rubber composition with a gelatinous, sticky consistency or of uncrosslinked or low-crosslinked polyurethane containing an external plasticizer.
- the silicone rubber composition used according to the invention is of the RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) type and is made from linear organopolysiloxanes containing alkenyl and Si-H bonds in the presence of noble metal catalysts, such as platinum and platinum compounds obtained by vulcanization at elevated temperature, depending on the type and number of functional groups in the organopolysiloxanes containing Si-H bonds, either pure or organosiloxane resin-containing elastomers. If the vulcanization of the linear organopolysiloxanes can also take place in the presence of noble metal catalysts at room temperature, the vulcanization at a slightly elevated temperature is particularly advantageous.
- the vulcanization time of the catalyzed mixture is 1 to 6 hours at 40 to 120 ° C.
- the addition-crosslinking silicone rubber composition used according to the invention is physiologically harmless. It is easy to push in and takes on its original shape due to its elastic behavior, but without springing rubbery or showing permanent plastic deformations.
- a polyurethane film with sufficient elasticity and strength (elongation 600%) is used as the outer skin and has a thickness of 0.025 mm.
- the device according to the invention can be produced by crosslinking an uncrosslinked silicone rubber composition in a two-part form with a cavity corresponding to the mat contour by supplying heat, while it is located between two polyurethane films clamped between the mold halves with their edges, and in that the films along the mat edge a melting process, such as welding, are connected to one another, after which the mat is removed from the mold.
- the manufacturing process can be carried out in such a way that two flat-lying polyurethane foils forming the mat cover are welded to one another along the later mat edge except for a filling opening and are fixed in the area of the welded edge on the edge of a lower molded part.
- the lower molding is then closed by an upper molding and the uncrosslinked sili rubber compound is injected under pressure through the filler opening of the welding edge between the plastic films until it presses the plastic films against the walls of the mold cavity, after which the compound is crosslinked in the mold and the filler opening is then welded.
- the polyurethane used for the packing according to the invention is the reaction product of an aromatic diisocyanate and a long-chain polyether with a hydroxyl functionality between 2 and 3.
- Aromatic diisocyanates which are customary in polyurethane technology, in particular diphenylmethane diisocyanate, are suitable.
- the long chain polyether can e.g. B. have a molecular weight in the range of 180 to 8000, preferably 500 to 1000.
- Polypropylene glycol with a molecular weight in the ranges mentioned has proven to be particularly suitable.
- larger amounts of the external plasticizer are preferably used, e.g. at least 30% by weight and in particular at least 50% by weight.
- the proportion of the external plasticizer can go up to 90% by weight.
- the proportions of the outer plasticizer are based on the total mass, i. H. So on polyurethane and external plasticizers.
- a polyurethane film is preferred for the outer skin, but it can also consist of a silicone layer.
- a mat with a silicone outer layer can be produced by first producing a silicone layer on the inner surface of the mold, which is relatively highly cross-linked, but which still has the necessary elasticity. Highly cross-linked silicone is required so that the outer layer is not sticky. Further processing then takes place by pouring a mass into the closed mold, which is polycondensed by heating it into a plasticized polyurethane.
- Cold-curing starting materials can also be used if appropriately reactive catalysts are used.
- the upper foil When using two polyurethane foils fused together along their edges for the outer skin, the upper foil has a thickness of 0.025 mm and the lower foil has a thickness of 0.05 mm.
- FIGS. 3 to 6 A device according to a second embodiment of the invention is shown in FIGS. 3 to 6. It differs only slightly from the device according to the first embodiment of the invention. The following description therefore only points out the differences which the device according to the second exemplary embodiment has compared to that according to the first exemplary embodiment.
- the same reference numerals are used in FIGS. 3 to 6 as in FIGS. 1 and 2.
- the mat 10 of the device according to the second embodiment of the invention is generally trough-shaped, the obliquely inward, thicker downward edge 13 at the head part 12 being higher than at the foot part 11 and the head part 12 being narrower than the foot part 11.
- the mat 10 is of essentially the same thickness everywhere.
- Both the head part and the foot part are narrower and shorter than in the mat of the device according to the first exemplary embodiment, and it lies loosely in a recess of a block 19 made of coated flexible foam made of polyurethane, which is dimensioned in width and length in such a way that it just fits in an incubator.
- the trough of the block 19 is shaped so that the mat 10 comes to rest in a form-fitting manner in it, the edge of the trough of the block 19 following the edge of the mat 10. Since the block 19 itself is dimensionally stable, but the mat 10 is only partially stable, the block 19 gives the mat 10 the necessary support so that it maintains its predetermined tub shape. It is readily apparent that the mat 10 of the device according to the second embodiment requires significantly less material than the mat of the device according to the first embodiment. In addition, the device according to the second embodiment is overall more dimensionally stable than the device according to the first embodiment.
- a bead is not provided in the mat 10 of the device according to the second embodiment. If desired, however, it could subsequently be produced in a simple manner by placing a molded part, such as, for example, between the mat 10 and the block 19 at a suitable point. a cloth is placed, which would cause the mat to bulge into a bulge.
- the materials of the mat: according to the second embodiment are the same as those used for the mat of the device according to the first embodiment.
- the type of manufacture is also the same.
- FIG. 7 An apparatus according to a third embodiment of the invention is shown in Fig. 7, in which the same reference numerals as in Figs. 1 to 6 have been used for the corresponding parts. It also consists of a mat 10, which, however, in contrast to the mats of the devices according to the two other exemplary embodiments, has a flat top and bottom. It is intended as a permanent document for newborns, especially premature babies, in incubators if no transport of the child with the incubator is required.
- the essential difference of the mat 10 of the device according to the third exemplary embodiment compared to the mats of the devices described above is that it has a two-layer structure, the upper layer 20, ie the layer that is closer to the person to be stored when used as intended, is softer than the lower layer 21.
- Both layers 20 and 21, like the filler of the previously described mats, are made from an addition-crosslinking two-component silicone rubber composition or from uncrosslinked or low-crosslinked polyurethane containing an external plasticizer.
- the filling body of the mat 10 consisting of the two layers 20 and 21 is surrounded by an outer skin 18 made of two polyurethane foils fused or welded together along their edges.
- the two layers 20 and 21 are separated from one another by a further polyurethane film 22, which is fused or welded along their edge to the edges of the polyurethane films forming the outer skin 18.
- the film of the outer skin 18 forming the top of the mat 10 has the same thickness as that Separating film 22. The thickness of these two films is 0.025 mm.
- the film of the outer skin 18 forming the underside of the mat 10, on the other hand, has a thickness of 0.05 mm.
- the outer dimensions of the mat 10 are held so that they just fit into an incubator.
- the two-layer structure with layers of different hardness has the advantage that the upper layer 20 can be kept very soft, so that an extremely comfortable lying is made possible without the fear that a load that is more selective than flat, the mat pushes itself through to a possibly hard bottom of the incubator. Since the mat 10 is still soft and resiliently deformable despite the somewhat harder layer 21, it can be adapted to the needs of the respective child by inserting molded parts such as cloths. Be given shape.
- the mat 10 is produced in accordance with the manufacture of the previously described mats, with only two filler openings being provided instead of one filler opening. However, it is also possible to provide only one common filling opening at a suitable point in the foils.
- the device according to the third embodiment can be modified in that no separating film is provided between the two differently hard packing layers 20 and 21.
- the procedure is then such that in the mold half lined with one of the foils which later form the outer skin, the still non-crosslinked material for the one filler layer is first inserted, so that after the crosslinking of this material, the still uncrosslinked material for the another filler layer is applied to the first filler layer, then the other film is placed over the other filler layer and the two mold halves are closed, after which the other filler layer is crosslinked.
- the two foils are welded or fused together along their edges, which are clamped one on top of the other between the two mold halves.

Abstract
