Definitions
- the invention relates to a breathing mask, in particular a BC protective mask, for injuries with a filter in the air supply, the mask consisting of a flexible hood that at least envelops the head, which is open at the bottom when worn and via a flexible air supply line with a separately carried ventilation device connected is.
- a breathing mask in particular a BC protective mask
- Such protective masks are e.g. known from US-A-4,231,359 or from US-A-4,233,970 or from FR-A-1,599,791 or from US-A-4,466,432.
- Respirators are used e.g. B. needed for fire fighting. In the event of war, respiratory masks are primarily required to protect against biological and chemical weapons.
- the breathing masks usually have activated carbon filters with a sheet metal housing.
- the mask itself is usually made of rubber or rubber-like material and encloses the face with eyes, mouth and nose.
- the mask is pressed tightly against the head with the bands to be placed behind the head. This is not possible for injured persons, especially head injuries.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of providing a breathing mask which avoids strain on the head in the case of injuries and allows access to the head.
- the hood is provided with an opening and reclosable treatment opening in the head area.
- Films suitable for this purpose are so light that they do not represent a weight load for an injured person, including a head injured person. Breathing difficulties are avoided in a known manner in that the injured person no longer sucks in the breathing air himself and has to overcome the resistance in the filter, but the breathing air is supplied via a separately operated ventilation device.
- An overpressure in the hood is advantageous. The excess pressure causes the hood to be rinsed out. This is from of particular importance for the protection against biological or chemical warfare agents as well as any kind of air pollution.
- the breathing air consumed by the injured person is also flushed out. This eliminates the use of mouthpieces and control devices for separate air ducts when inhaling and exhaling. For head injuries, especially facial injuries, this is a serious relief, sometimes even a requirement for survival.
- the air regulation in the head area is important for the air conditioning or breathing air supply in the hood. According to the invention, this is achieved in that the exhaust air opening of the hood on the neck is adjustable.
- the setting is e.g. B. achieved by tying. I.e. With a lacing or similar, the neck width can be reduced to such an extent that the desired minimum overpressure is created in the head area and the air supply for the injured person is secured.
- the hood is provided with a closable treatment opening in the head area.
- the opening preferably consists of a slot.
- a Velcro fastener is advantageous for closing the slot. Sealing problems do not arise because the slight overpressure prevents unfiltered ambient air from entering the hood. If it turns out during treatment that the opening is too small, the film can easily be opened further with scissors or a knife.
- textile-reinforced plastic film is used as the material for the hood.
- Such films are waterproof and, in various embodiments, are insensitive to biological and chemical warfare agents and harmful environmental influences.
- Heat-resistant plastics are also preferably used.
- the front part of the hood is made of transparent film and gives the wearer the necessary field of vision.
- an opening or a connection for a ventilation hose is optionally provided in the hood, in order to be able to supply an injured person with oxygen-enriched air, if necessary.
- FIG. 1 to 6 show different exemplary embodiments and details of a hood according to the invention.
- Fig. 1 shows a hood designated 21, which has a treatment opening 22 below the transparent film.
- the treatment opening 22 has a Velcro fastener 23.
- the arrangement of the Velcro fastener is shown in FIG. 5.
- the treatment opening 22 is designed in the form of a slot in the hood 21.
- a Velcro strip is embedded in the slot, which is secured on the side against tearing open by seams or rent or a corresponding welding or gluing points.
- the treatment opening 22 enables the hood to be opened without having to remove the hood.
- the opening can be used, for example, to treat an injured person.
- the treatment opening 22 is closed again by pressing the Velcro fastener together.
- the handling of the treatment opening and the Velcro fastener is particularly safe because any remaining minor leaks do not lead to the penetration of unfiltered ambient air. Rather, the leak is blown free by the breathing air in the hood, which is under pressure.
- the connector 19 for the breathing air hose is shown in cross section. Then the connector consists of a threaded body 24, which is secured with the aid of a threaded ring 25 in the transparent film 26. On the outside of the hood, the connector 19 has an internal thread for screwing in the associated breathing air hose end.
- 3 and 4 show the hood according to FIG. 1 in cooperation with a ventilation device 27.
- the ventilation device 27 according to FIG. 3 has a filter 28 and is connected via a breathing air hose 29 to the connector 19 of the hood. 4, two filters 30 are provided instead of the one filter 28. Both filters 30 are connected to the ventilation device 27 via a fork piece 32.
- two breathing air tubes 29 are connected to the ventilation device 27 via a fork piece 31, so that the ventilation device 27 simultaneously supplies two hoods with filtered breathing air.
- the ventilation device 27 promotes a constant amount of air in stage I of about 120 l / min with fresh batteries or when connected to a motor vehicle. This amount is normally sufficient to supply two people lying down with breathing air.
- the voltage decreases with increasing battery life.
- the air flow decreases in the same ratio.
- the voltage drops to about half within 3 hours.
- the air flow rate therefore drops to 30 l / min in the same time.
- the screw plug and the screw cap are removed from the intake and blowing ports.
- the breathing tube 29 is screwed onto the air outlet of the device housing with the aid of a union nut.
- the other end of the breathing air hose 29 is screwed to the connector 19 of the hood.
- the breathing air hose is a corrugated hose.
- the ventilation device 27 When the ventilation device 27 is switched on, the air supply at the inflation of the hood must be checked. The hood is then pulled over the head and shoulder of the person to be cared for. The attached hood is closed on the neck of the person to be cared for with the help of straps except for the opening required for the air outlet.
