Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for the metered application of cleaning powder and incorporation of the powder into a carpet or the like to be treated. It also relates to a device for carrying out the method using a single-disc machine with a tiller with an actuating handle to be pivoted about an axis approximately parallel to the surface to be treated.
- single-disc machines with circular brushes which can be rotated about a substantially vertical axis, are used to carry out many jobs. These machines work with a cleaning solution. When scrubbing, the solution can flow from a lye tank carried over a drain hose through the center of the rotating brush onto the surface to be treated.
- dry cleaning processes are used in addition to wet cleaning processes in which shampooing or spray extraction is used.
- wet powder used. These cleaning powders are spread over the surface to be treated by hand, using a shovel or using specially designed spreading devices.
- the invention has for its object a method for cleaning carpets or the like and a front to create direction for performing the method, with the help of a cleaning powder dosed on the surface to be cleaned and immediately incorporated into the carpet.
- the solution according to the invention is that a single-disc machine with an approximately vertical axis to the rotating brush is used to incorporate the powder with respect to the surface to be treated and that the powder is applied to the carpet in a controlled manner from a metering tube opening to the side of the brush during operation of the machine.
- the powder is preferably applied to the carpet next to the brush in an area that is easy for the operator to see regardless of the machine position.
- the invention ensures that the operator can always dose the amount of cleaning powder required for the desired cleaning effect onto the carpet. She can observe the dosing result with the eye and control it accordingly. Since the cleaning powder is to be applied to the carpet immediately next to the brush, ie outside the periphery of an annular brush, it can be worked in immediately after the powder has been applied. An organic cleaning agent contained in the powder as a cleaning component can therefore - in contrast to the case with the previously customary methods for applying the powder - not escape or evaporate in any significant amount. It is also achieved by the invention that heavy soiling or stains are to be treated in a targeted manner and without interrupting work, in which the areas of the carpet in question are treated Subsequent dosing and incorporation of additional cleaning agents are treated separately.
- a device for carrying out the method in which a single-disc machine with a tiller with an actuating handle to be pivoted about an axis approximately parallel to the surface to be treated is characterized by a powder storage container with a bottom opening attached to the tiller and connected to it next to it the metering tube that opens during operation of the rotating disc of the single-disc machine with a metering valve that can be controlled from the operating handle.
- the powder metering tube opening outside the brush periphery should only be coupled to the drawbar in addition to the storage container, so that the metering tube, like the storage container, participates in the operating movements of the drawbar and does not interfere with the handling of the machine.
- the bottom of the powder storage container adjoining the metering tube should be inclined conically in the direction of the metering tube in order to enable complete powder emptying. It is also favorable to have a free-flowing, dry, i.e. use less sticky, cleaning powder to avoid inhibitions in the powder flow or even blockages.
- the metering valve should preferably be designed as a flap at the mouth of the metering tube that can be opened against a spring preload. Such a flap can be easily handled if it is to be opened or closed via a Bowden cable or the like which is guided to the operating handle of the drawbar of the single-disc machine.
- the tiller 4 is located on an approximately parallel to the surface to be treated arranged axis 6 in bearings 7 attached to the machine unit 1. During operation, the brush 3 rotates about an axis 8 which is approximately perpendicular to the surface to be treated.
- the powder dosing device according to the invention designated overall by 9, according to FIGS. 1 and 2 essentially consists of a storage container 10 and a dosing tube 11.
- the storage container 10 has a filling opening 12 and an outlet opening 13.
- the bottom 14 of the storage container 10 is in the direction of the outlet opening 13 tapered downwards.
- the metering tube 11 connects to the outlet opening 13. Apart from the reservoir 10, this is only permanently connected to the drawbar 4, preferably via a connection 15 (FIG. 1).
- the metering tube 11 is arranged so that it opens laterally next to the rotating brush 3 at a distance from the surface to be cleaned. An arrangement in which the cleaning powder to the left of the rotating brush 3 at a distance of about 5 cm on the The area to be treated trickles, has proven to be advantageous.
- the cleaning powder can be applied in a metered or controlled manner from the storage container 10 to the surface to be treated if a metering valve is provided at a point between the outlet opening 13 of the storage container 10 and the mouth 16 of the metering tube 11.
- the metering valve consists of a flap 17 which can be opened against a spring preload, the closing spring 18 of which can be tensioned and relaxed with the aid of a Bowden cable 19 to be handled by the actuating handle 5, the lever of which is designated 20.
- the invention makes it possible to redesign a single-disc machine construction designed for operation with liquid cleaning agents in such a way that a machine which is suitable for applying and incorporating free-flowing cleaning powder for treating textile floor coverings or the like is produced. Most elements of a common single disc machine can be adopted. Above all, the suds tank with associated drain hose is replaced by the powder metering device according to the invention, the metering tube not opening into the brush but to the side or outside of the periphery of the brush. If the cleaning powder has good flowability, a metering tube with a clear width of about 25 mm can be provided.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for the metered application of cleaning powder and incorporation of the powder into a carpet or the like to be treated. It also relates to a device for carrying out the method using a single-disc machine with a tiller with an actuating handle to be pivoted about an axis approximately parallel to the surface to be treated.
In the building cleaning trade, single-disc machines with circular brushes, which can be rotated about a substantially vertical axis, are used to carry out many jobs. These machines work with a cleaning solution. When scrubbing, the solution can flow from a lye tank carried over a drain hose through the center of the rotating brush onto the surface to be treated.
Hierbei werden u.a. feuchte Pulver eingesetzt. For cleaning carpets, such as permanently installed textile floor coverings or the like, dry cleaning processes are used in addition to wet cleaning processes in which shampooing or spray extraction is used. Among other things, wet powder used. These cleaning powders are spread over the surface to be treated by hand, using a shovel or using specially designed spreading devices.
The invention has for its object a method for cleaning carpets or the like and a front to create direction for performing the method, with the help of a cleaning powder dosed on the surface to be cleaned and immediately incorporated into the carpet. For the above-mentioned method for the metered application of cleaning powder and incorporation of the powder into a carpet, the solution according to the invention is that a single-disc machine with an approximately vertical axis to the rotating brush is used to incorporate the powder with respect to the surface to be treated and that the powder is applied to the carpet in a controlled manner from a metering tube opening to the side of the brush during operation of the machine. The powder is preferably applied to the carpet next to the brush in an area that is easy for the operator to see regardless of the machine position.
The invention ensures that the operator can always dose the amount of cleaning powder required for the desired cleaning effect onto the carpet.
According to a further invention, a device for carrying out the method is used in which a single-disc machine with a tiller with an actuating handle to be pivoted about an axis approximately parallel to the surface to be treated is characterized by a powder storage container with a bottom opening attached to the tiller and connected to it next to it the metering tube that opens during operation of the rotating disc of the single-disc machine with a metering valve that can be controlled from the operating handle. Preferably, the powder metering tube opening outside the brush periphery should only be coupled to the drawbar in addition to the storage container, so that the metering tube, like the storage container, participates in the operating movements of the drawbar and does not interfere with the handling of the machine.
The bottom of the powder storage container adjoining the metering tube should be inclined conically in the direction of the metering tube in order to enable complete powder emptying. It is also favorable to have a free-flowing, dry, i.e. use less sticky, cleaning powder to avoid inhibitions in the powder flow or even blockages.
The metering valve should preferably be designed as a flap at the mouth of the metering tube that can be opened against a spring preload. Such a flap can be easily handled if it is to be opened or closed via a Bowden cable or the like which is guided to the operating handle of the drawbar of the single-disc machine.

The powder dosing device according to the invention, designated overall by 9, according to FIGS. 1 and 2 essentially consists of a
The cleaning powder can be applied in a metered or controlled manner from the
The invention makes it possible to redesign a single-disc machine construction designed for operation with liquid cleaning agents in such a way that a machine which is suitable for applying and incorporating free-flowing cleaning powder for treating textile floor coverings or the like is produced.
