Description

The invention relates to a cleaning device for dry or wet suction and / or for spray extraction cleaning with a suction head having suction openings, which is connected to a suction line, and with a spray line ending in a spray nozzle for a cleaning liquid at the suction head.

Devices that are used either as wet or dry vacuum cleaners or as spray extraction devices (WO-A-79 00 755) usually have to be equipped with different working heads. When changing from one type of cleaning to another, a complicated change of the respective suction heads is necessary. Such a change is reasonable for industrial cleaning devices, but not for household appliances.

It is an object of the invention to develop a device which can be used either as a dry or wet vacuum cleaner or as a spray extraction cleaning device in such a way that one and the same suction head can be used for all cleaning processes without substantial conversion work.

This object is achieved in a cleaning device of the type specified in the introductory part of claim 1 (DE-A-1 403 638) according to the invention by the features mentioned in the characterizing part of claim 1.

It is therefore possible to use one of the two suction openings for the different cleaning processes. The suction opening on the underside of the suction head is used in a conventional manner for wet and dry suction, during this process the front suction opening is closed.

For spray extraction operation, on the other hand, the front opening is opened while the suction opening on the underside is closed. The suction head is then - for example with a corresponding inclination of the suction head relative to the suction line by rotating the same by 180 ° - positioned so that the end face is now directed against the surface to be cleaned, so that the front suction opening becomes effective. Both suction openings can be specially equipped for the respective task, for example the suction opening on the underside is provided with brushes or sealing lips, while the suction opening on the front side, which is used for spray extraction cleaning, has hard edges that are pressed firmly against the surface to be cleaned and can support the cleaning process itself.

The suction head can be pivoted on the suction line about an axis running parallel to the surface to be cleaned and can be fixed in a certain angular position. It is then advantageous to leave the suction head freely pivotable on the suction line during dry and wet suction operation without spray extraction, i.e. not to fix it in a certain angular position, so that the suction head adapts to the surface to be cleaned in a manner known per se, the user the suction line can lead with different inclinations.

For spray extraction, however, it is advantageous to fix the suction head relative to the suction line in its angular position, so that the user can press the suction head vigorously against the surface to be cleaned via the suction line, a pulling movement being simultaneously exerted on the suction head.

It is particularly advantageous if the end face is shorter compared to the underside in the direction of displacement of the suction head. As a result, the suction head stands upright during spray extraction, so that, seen in the direction of displacement of the suction head, there are only the narrow edges delimiting the opening on both sides of the suction opening. As a result, these can intervene particularly effectively in the surface to be cleaned, for example in a carpet. In addition, the upright, wall-shaped suction head forms a front boundary for the spray jet directed against the carpet, so that no liquid can get into the area already processed by the suction head.

To selectively close the two suction openings, a closure element rotatably mounted in the interior of the suction head can be provided, which can be rotated from the outside either into the connection of the suction opening on the underside with the suction line or into the connection of the suction opening on the front side with the suction line. A change from one suction opening to the other is thus possible by simply rotating such a closure element.

In a preferred embodiment it is provided that the spray extraction nozzle and / or a closing valve switched into the spray line are detachably attached to the suction line. It is then possible to remove the spray line with spray nozzle and closing valve from the suction line during wet and dry suction operation and, for example, to store it in the cleaning device itself. These parts are attached to the spray line only for the purpose of spray extraction, this attachment preferably being carried out with resilient clips which are plugged onto the suction line.

The suction head shown in the drawing is part of a cleaning device which is not shown in the drawing and which provides a dirt suction by means of a suction unit and, if necessary, a liquid cleaning agent by means of a feed pump.

The suction side of the suction unit is connected, with the interposition of a dirt collecting container, via a flexible suction hose 2 to a tubular, rigid suction line 1, which opens into a suction head 3. This suction head has the shape of a flat cuboid with a flat upper side 4, a lower side 5, two side walls 6 and 7, a rear wall 8 curved in the shape of a circular arc and an end wall 9.

The total length of the suction head from the front wall 9 to the rear wall 8 is substantially greater than the height of the suction head between the top and bottom, for example four times larger.

The suction line 1 opens into the rear part of the suction head 3, and in this area the suction head 3 and suction line 1 are pivotally connected to one another about an axis of rotation running parallel to the rear wall 8. The relative angular position of the suction head relative to the suction line 1 can be determined by means of a rotary handle 10 protruding laterally from the housing. This can be done by means of a clamping device known per se, it is also possible for such a determination to be carried out in different stages by the engagement of locking elements in locking recesses. Various equivalent options are available to the person skilled in the art here. The twist grip 10 can also remain in a position in which the suction line 1 and suction head 3 can be freely pivoted relative to one another.

The suction head 3 has in its underside 5 a slit-shaped suction opening 11 which extends across the entire width of the suction head 3 and is delimited at both ends by runners 12 which project downwards over the underside 5 of the suction head 3 and thus the suction opening 11 keep at a distance from a surface 13 to be cleaned, on which the suction head is placed with the underside downward (FIG. 2).

A flexible sealing lip 14 runs parallel to the slot-shaped suction opening 11 on the front, and a bristle strip 15 on the rear.

In the end wall 9, to which the upper side 4 and the lower side 5 of the suction head 3 converge, there is a further, slit-shaped suction opening 16 which extends over the entire width of the suction head and occupies essentially the entire area of the end wall 9 and only is surrounded by a narrow edge 17 which is formed by the suction head itself (FIG. 3).

The hollow interior 18 of the suction head is connected on the one hand to the suction line 1 via a suitable seal, and on the other hand to the two suction openings 11 and 16 of the suction head. A plate-shaped closing element is pivotally mounted in the interior about an axis of rotation running parallel to the two slot-shaped suction openings, and its two bulged edges 20 abut against a circular-cylindrical sealing surface 21 which is concentric with the axis of rotation of the closing element 19. Both suction openings are connected to the interior 18 via openings 22 and 23 in this sealing surface 21. By pivoting the closing element 19, either the opening 22 or the opening 23 can be closed, so that the suction openings can be selectively closed with respect to the interior of the suction head. The closing element 19 is actuated by a shaft 24 passing through a side wall 6 and having a slot into which a coin can be inserted, for example for the purpose of twisting.

A spray nozzle 26, which is connected to a flexible delivery line 27, can be elastically plugged onto the tubular suction line 1 by means of an elastic clip 25. This leads to a manually operated closing valve 28, which is also attached to the suction line 1 by means of an elastic clip 29. The closing valve 28 is connected via a flexible line 30 to the feed pump (not shown in the drawing) of the cleaning device.

By using elastic clips, the spray nozzle and closing valve with associated lines can be detached from the suction line and stored, for example, in the cleaning device.

In normal wet or dry suction operation, in which the spray extraction device is not used, the suction head is placed with the underside on the surface to be cleaned, the swivel connection between suction line 1 and suction head 3 is not locked, so that the two parts can be freely pivoted against each other . The closing element 19 is rotated so that the suction opening 16 in the end wall 9 is closed (Figure 2). In this operating position, the suction head can be used in a conventional manner for wet or dry suction, the operator being able to adjust the angle of the suction line relative to the suction head as desired. The suction head slides on the runners 12, the suction opening being largely closed off by the sealing lip and the bristle strip on the front and rear, but nevertheless allowing the entry of an air flow which entrains dirt particles.

When wet and dry vacuuming, the spray nozzle, closing valve and associated lines are removed from the suction line.

If the conversion to spray extraction mode is desired, the spray nozzle and the closing valves are attached to the suction line 1 by means of their clips. The suction head must be placed upright for spray extraction operation, that is, it is directed with its end wall 9 against the surface to be cleaned. In order to be able to guide it in this position and, on the other hand, to achieve a comfortable working direction of the suction line 1, the angle between the suction head and the suction line is set accordingly and then fixed by means of the rotary handle 10. The spray nozzle 26 is plugged onto the suction line 1 ′ in such a way that the jet 31 emitted by it strikes the surface to be cleaned in front of the spray head as seen in the direction of pull of the spray head (FIG. 1). In addition, the closing element 19 is adjusted so that the suction opening 11 on the underside is now closed and the suction opening 16 is open on the front side. In this position, the upright suction head can be pressed strongly against the surface to be cleaned by means of the suction line 1 because of the angular detection, and at the same time the operator can pull the suction head towards him. In this way, the liquid previously sprayed onto the surface to be cleaned is sucked into the suction head together with the loosened dirt.

The same suction head can thus be used for both modes of operation, i.e. wet or dry vacuuming on the one hand and spray extraction cleaning on the other, the changeover from one operating mode to the other requiring only a few simple operations. In both operating modes, the suction head can fully meet the requirements of the respective cleaning method, since the suction openings can be adapted to the corresponding operating modes.
