Definitions
- Such a lamp is known inter alia from application EP-A-0 098 905.
- the lamp can be used in vehicles as a projector lamp, said filament providing a passing beam.
- a second filament not cooperating with the concave screen is arranged in the bulb, it is possible to obtain a driving beam.
- Such a lamp having two longitudinal filaments, as well as a gas filling containing halogen, is called an H4 lamp.
- Vehicles are generally equipped with projectors fitted with a flattened paraboloid reflector.
- the reflective screen sends a significant amount of light onto a flattened part of the reflector so that this light hardly contributes to the beam of crossing emitted by the projector.
- the invention described in said European patent application uses a reflective screen, the end of which is distant from the seal and is spherically curved. Thus, a greater quantity of the light supplied by the filament arrives in the beam emitted by the projector.
- a screen has the drawback of not being provided with a longitudinal tongue.
- Another drawback lies in the need to use a screen of a shape other than in use.
- the invention aims to provide a lamp of the type described in the preamble making it possible, using a conventional screen, to produce a more intense passing beam from a flattened parabolic reflector than with the lamp described in the preamble.
- this object is achieved due to the fact that in the screen there is a reflective tab which regularly deviates from the flattened base part of said screen and extends, vis- towards the filament over its entire length, towards the end of the latter away from the sealing of the bulb.
- the reflecting tab can be a separate part of the screen and be fixed for example to its base part by one or more welds, or it can constitute an integral part of the screen and be formed by stamping and be bent then inward. Because in the latter case, the tongue is located closer to the filament than the opening of the screen from which the tongue is stamped and curved, this tongue can easily mask this opening with respect to the light emitted by the filament . Thanks to its positioning, the reflective tongue sends at least part of the light which, in the absence of said tongue, had to leave the bulb in a practically radial way, more in the longitudinal direction towards the sealing of the bulb . Thus, in the case of using a flattened paraboloid reflector, this light arrives for the most part on the curved surface of the reflector and contributes to the beam formed by this surface.
- the shape of the reflective tab can be chosen from several shapes. It has proven advantageous to choose a concave shape, for example a cylindrical curved tongue, the cylinder axis being perpendicular to the axis of the tubular bulb.
- a concave tongue is a spherically curved tongue, the concave face being directed towards the filament.
- the object of the invention is achieved while maintaining the tab of the end of the screen opposite to the bulb seal and while maintaining the contours of a conventional screen. It is for this reason that, if necessary, the screen tab can be used to fix one of the arms of the filament. Thus, the filament reaches a position suitably fixed relative to the screen. If the screen is supported by a current input, which is most often the case, this arm is thus connected to this current input.
- the tongue of the screen can be used to support the interior of the lamp against the wall of the bulb.
- the tongue of the screen has for this purpose a lateral projection resting against the wall of the bulb. Particularly in the case where the current inputs have a leaf-shaped part in the sealing of the bulb, the tongue of the screen resting against the wall of the bulb prevents the interior parts of the bulb from occupying a position tilted during the realization of this sealing.
- the lamp according to FIG. 1 has a tubular bulb 1 made of gas-tight glass, for example made of quartz glass, a first end of which has a seal 2.
- Current inputs 3, 4, just like a third current input 5, pass through the seal and enter the bulb 1.
- a helical filament 6 is provided in the bulb 1 and each of its ends 7, 8 has an arm 9, 10 respectively connected to a current input 4 , 3.
- the end 7 is the far end of the seal 2 of the bulb.
- An elongated concave reflective screen 11 extends in the bulb 1 along the filament 6, its concave face being directed towards the latter.
- the screen is curved in an essentially spherical manner at its end situated opposite the seal 2, present at the opposite end, a tongue 12 which extends longitudinally in the bulb, screen provided with a flattened base part 13.
- the screen 11 is supported by the current input 4.
- To its tongue 12 is fixed the arm 9, so that the latter is connected to the current input 4.
- the filament 6 emits a passing beam using the screen 11, a flat reflector paraboloid flattened projector, shown schematically, in which is arranged the bulb and a lens not shown of this projector.
- the lamp is provided with a second longitudinal filament 14, which is connected to the current inputs 3, 5 and which provides, in concert with a reflector and a projector lens, a driving beam, during operation.
- On seal 2, the lamp is fitted with a base 15.
- FIG. 2 is seen the arrangement taken in the lamp according to the invention.
- a reflective tab 16 which regularly deviates from the flattened base part and extends, with respect to the filament over its entire length, towards the end 7 of the latter, which is the far end of the seal 2 of the bulb 1 ( Figure 1).
- the tab shown 16 has a concave cylindrical surface, which is located opposite the filament 6.
- the tab 16 has a sealing tab 17 on which is welded with the flattened base part 13, so that the tab 16 is fixed to said base part.
- the tongue 12 has a rib 18 on which a weld is made with the arm 9.
- the filament 6 is that of FIG. 2.
- the tongue 26 is an integral part of the screen 21 and is obtained by stamping in the material of screen 21 and is curved inward. The tongue is curved spherically from the concave side towards the filament 6.
- 29 designates the window formed by stamping the tongue 26.
- the window 29 is masked from the filament by the tongue 26 curved towards the filament 6.
