Description

The invention relates to a door frame consisting of two vertical frames running parallel to each other and a horizontal segment connecting the two upper ends and a plaster cover strip projecting outwards.

Doors are generally known in the prior art and their basic structure consists of a door frame which consists of two vertical frames which run essentially parallel to one another and a horizontal part which connects the two upper ends to one another either straight or in the form of an arc (segment) exists and a door leaf fitted and rotatably arranged therein. For cost reasons, in particular with rectangular door frames, it is now the rule to manufacture them in factory sizes, sell them and then use them in standardized sizes. For this purpose, the plaster cover strip attached to both sides of the door frame and facing outwards is removed on one side, the door frame is pushed into the opening in the masonry, connected to it and finally this plaster cover strip is reattached. The sales prices of such prefabricated doors can be kept so low by manufacturing in large series that the manual production is no longer competitive from a cost perspective. Only in the event that doors have to be installed in appropriately shaped wall openings, in which the two frames are to be connected at their upper ends via a circular or circular segment, a special adjustment is required, which prohibits mass production. A door frame with a segment as a connecting piece between the two frames is unusual because of its deviation from the rectangular shape and is therefore aesthetically pleasing. A disadvantage, however, is that before the installation of this door, the corresponding opening in the masonry must either be adapted to the shape of the door frame already during the construction of the shell or subsequently by additional masonry work. This brickwork means a considerable additional cost, which is why rectangular door frames are used in most cases.

A door frame is already known from AT-B-369 117, which can be used in rectangular wall openings, but which has a segment as a connecting piece between the two frames and thus produces an arcuate passage in the manner of a round stick. Masonry work is not required. However, final frame parts must be provided which are flush with the masonry in the inserted state and which, after insertion, are disadvantageously covered with plaster.

Proceeding from this, the invention has set itself the task of creating a door frame in which, despite the segment-shaped connecting piece, subsequent installation is possible without the need for additional masonry work.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the width of the plaster cover strip b is selected in accordance with the formula indicated in the characterizing part of claim 1. Here h is the distance between the apex of the segment, referred to in specialist circles as “stitch”, from the straight line defined by the two upper ends of the frames, and the maximum deviation of the segment from it. The distance a of the two frames is measured from the outer edge to the outer edge . The door frame is dimensioned in a manner known per se so that it can be fitted into the rectangular opening of the masonry, ie that the distance between the two frames, measured from the outside in each case, is the same or slightly less than the clear opening measured in the horizontal direction and the vertex of the segment, also measured from the outside, has a distance from the straight line defined by the two lower ends of the frames, which is equal to or slightly less than the clear width of the opening in the masonry in the vertical direction. After the door frame has been introduced, two openings remain in the upper region which are arranged approximately symmetrically to the vertical longitudinal axis and for which it has previously been necessary to carry out brickwork. The essence of the present invention consists in the attachment of a plaster cover strip of width b, as can be determined according to the formula in claim 1. Then it is ensured that the openings in the masonry are already covered by the plaster cover strip, so that masonry work is not necessary. The term “strip” includes, since it is a band-shaped structure of constant width, which is attached in such a way that it adjoins the outside of the door frame, thus the width of the cover strip always represents the normal to the door frame. Furthermore, the value b of the formula includes any edges that are present on the frames and point outwards, the width of which must then be subtracted from the value calculated in order to obtain the plaster cover strip. In principle, it is free within the scope of the invention in which way the segment is connected to the two frames, whether one of the usual wooden connections is present or whether dowels, screws or the like. were used. The door frame may be manufactured and sold together with a door leaf, the dimensions of which are selected in accordance with the opening to be closed in the masonry, as a rule of a standardized size. The door frame according to the invention, similar to the rectangular doors manufactured today in series production, already comes onto the market in the assembled state and is installed like this by removing one of the plaster cover strips, inserting the door frame into the wall opening and fastening it there and finally the plaster cover strip is reattached to the door frame. The minimum width of the plaster cover strip indicated by the formula according to the invention increases with the distance between the two frames and the greater the curvature of the segment, that is to say the distance between the apex of the segment and the straight line defined by the two upper ends of the frames. For aesthetic reasons, the implementation of the proposal according to the invention is particularly recommended when either the curvature of the segment is small or the distance between the two frames is small, since in such cases the plaster cover strip can be kept narrow.

The main advantage of the invention is that the door frame, although it has a segment as a connection between the two frames, can be installed just as easily as a rectangular door frame manufactured in series production. It is then unnecessary to carry out complex masonry work.

A further embodiment of the invention provides for the segment to be produced from a plurality of layers glued together. For this purpose, each of the individual layers is cut out in accordance with a template, then all the layers are placed on top of one another after the glue has been added, and pressed in an appropriate shape until the curing process has ended. The end product is a segment that only needs to be connected to a frame at one end to manufacture the door frame.

Further details, features and advantages of the invention can be found in the following description, in which an exemplary embodiment is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. It shows a schematic diagram of a door frame according to the invention in the installed state.

In a manner known per se, the door frame consists of two frames 1, 2, which run perpendicular to the surface of the wall and ideally rest from the inside against the end face of the edge of the wall opening. At their upper ends 3, 4 they are connected to one another via a segment 5 and in this way form an arcuate passage. A plaster cover strip 6 connects to the door frames 1, 2, 5 to the outside. The width thereof is dimensioned at least in the region of segment 5 in accordance with the formula indicated in claim 1. Here, a is the distance between the two frames 1, 2 and h is the distance between the apex 7 of the segment 5 and the straight line defined by the two upper ends 3, 4 of the frames 1, 2.

The appropriate dimensioning of the plaster cover strip 6, at least in the region of the segment 5, ensures that the remaining openings 8 remaining between the wall opening and the segment 5, which are indicated in a dotted line, are completely covered. The main advantage of using the door frame according to the invention is that a door with an arched door frame is obtained without having to carry out the otherwise usual brickwork to adapt the opening of the masonry to the door frame. The invention shows a way in which the pleasing and appealing door frames with segments can be handled and installed just as quickly and easily as rectangular door frames.
