Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a watch bracelet comprising a plurality of elements articulated one after the other, at least one of the elements carrying a timepiece and the other elements constituting the links of the bracelet.
  • hinges are generally used to articulate the elements.
  • a large number of constructions are known which make use of spring bars or more simply pins which are threaded into the elements.
  • Watch straps are also known in which a fastening cord is used which passes through a peripheral channel formed in the box.
  • Document CH-A 197 915 shows such an embodiment where however the bracelet is devoid of links, which gives this achievement a rigid aesthetic appearance, which greatly limits the desirable variants.
  • Document CH-A-318 558 presents a wristwatch whose elements are connected together by at least one flexible link and where each element comprises two lateral channels arranged on either side of the longitudinal axis of the bracelet and in which passes a strand of the flexible link.
  • each element comprises two lateral channels arranged on either side of the longitudinal axis of the bracelet and in which passes a strand of the flexible link.
  • there are sliding rings which surround the adjacent parts of the flexible link included between the successive elements of the bracelet, which means that said elements are not nested one after the other, thus preventing an aesthetic form corresponding to a classic embodiment of a link bracelet.
  • the disclosure CH-A-537 167 describes a flexible self-tightening bracelet, composed of removable elements threaded on at least one prefabricated longitudinal spring.
  • One of the elements can be hollowed out to receive a watch case.
  • this bracelet does not provide for fitting of a link on the other so that it is necessary to provide a clearance between the various removable elements to ensure sufficient flexibility for said bracelet, which leads to discontinuities in the line. longitudinal of the bracelet.
  • the design of the cited document shows that curved links were used.
  • the two hardened wires forming a spring are no longer apparent, as is the case in the present invention.
  • the present invention is characterized in that the watch bracelet comprises elements fitted end to end and held together at by means of two flexible links not extensible passing through channels formed in each of the elements and arranged on either side of the longitudinal axis of the watch strap, the longitudinal ends of said elements being shaped so that the links are made partially visible when they pass through 'One element to another, said wristwatch further comprising at each end of the bracelet an end piece provided with means for anchoring said flexible links.
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 show a watch strap according to the invention and according to a first embodiment. It is formed mainly of elements articulated one after the other. One of these elements 1 carries a timepiece symbolized here by hands 2 displaying the hour and the minute. The other elements constitute the links 3 of a two-part bracelet 4 and 5. All of the named elements are fitted into each other as can be seen in FIG. 2. They are held together by means of two flexible links 6 and not extensible which are arranged on either side of the longitudinal axis of the watch strap. These links 6 pass through channels (7,8) formed in each of the elements as can be seen in dotted lines on the two lower half-parts of FIGS. 1 and 2. FIG. 1 also shows that each of the ends of the bracelet includes an end piece 9 which is provided with anchoring means 10 for the links, as will appear further on when FIGS. 4 and 5 are discussed.
  • the elements are articulated one after the other by fitting a semi-cylindrical longitudinal boss 11 carried for example by the element 12 with a semi-cylindrical longitudinal groove 13 carried by the element 1 facing it.
  • a semi-cylindrical longitudinal boss 11 carried for example by the element 12
  • a semi-cylindrical longitudinal groove 13 carried by the element 1 facing it.
  • the flexible links 6 are arranged on either side of the longitudinal axis of the watch strap.
  • the elements 3 forming the links of the bracelet are provided with narrowing 14 at the location of their two longitudinal ends. In each of these narrowing is practiced the channel 7 in which the link is maintained 6. This arrangement, in addition to leaving apparent the link between two elements - which can be exploited aesthetically - leaves perfect freedom for relative movement links. It should also be mentioned that the narrowed parts of the elements 3 can bear a decorative pattern as shown in 15 of FIG. 1.
  • the element 1 which carries the timepiece is provided with two lateral channels 8 formed on either side of the movement of the timepiece.
  • the element 1 wears at six and twelve o'clock ears 16 which form part of the watch case and which, as regards their shape, remind the appearance of the links of the bracelet.
  • the channel 8 is first presented in the form of a hole made in the ear and then in the form of an open conduit surrounding the movement.
  • the Figure 3 shows how the link 6 is arranged in the channel 8 which, in this case, is practiced in the middle part 17 carrying the timepiece 18. This way of making allows the element 1 to be molded in one piece as it will appear below.
  • the two flexible links are, as we have seen, brought to an end piece 9 disposed at each end of the bracelet.
  • Figures 4 and 5 show a possible embodiment of this end piece 9 which is only partially drawn.
  • the link 6 coming from the last link, not shown enters the end piece 9 (top view) through the hole 19.
  • the link 6 is anchored on the piece 9 by means of a screw 20.
  • Figure 5 which is a section along the line VV in Figure 4
  • the screw 20 is terminated by a bowl 21 which cuts the link and keeps it securely in place.
  • the end piece 9 includes provisions for connecting it to a clasp.
  • the blind hole 22 is intended to receive a bar for attaching said bar to a clasp arm, for example of the type described in document CH-A-633 698.
  • the elements 1 and 3 will preferably be made of plastic. If this plastic material is also loaded with carbon fibers, we will have produced a unit that is both functional and aesthetic. In this case the element 1 which carries the timepiece will be molded in one piece.
  • plastic will also preferably be used.
  • the type of material will be chosen to meet the requirements of flexibility and solidity. Particularly welcome and perfectly similar in color to carbon fiber, a plastic wire impregnated with graphite as we know it for the stringing of tennis rackets meets these requirements.
  • FIGS. 6 and 7 finally show a second embodiment of the invention in which only the element of the wristwatch which carries the timepiece has been shown.
  • This element comprises a steel middle part 25 whose periphery and the flexible links 6 which surround it are overmolded with plastic material 26 loaded with carbon fibers.
  • the ears 16 which are part of this overmolding are executed in the same way as above to fit together with the first links of the bracelet. This embodiment allows the watch proper to stand out more from the watch strap.
