- la figure 1 est une vue en perspective du fermoir selon l'invention;
- la figure 2 est une coupe selon la ligne II-II de la figure 1, le fermoir se trouvant en position fermée;
- la figure 3 montre un détail du mécanisme d'accrochage du fermoir présenté en figures 1 et 2;
The invention relates to a clasp for a bracelet, in particular for a watch bracelet comprising a central element in the form of a stretcher, said element comprising first and second branches arranged parallel to one another and fixed to one another. other at each of their ends by first and second fixing means, a free space being provided between said branches, a first and a second arm each articulated by one of its ends respectively around said first and second fixing means, l other end of each of the arms having a hooking spout and means for fixing the strands of the bracelet, said first and second arms being partially included in the thickness of said central element when the clasp is in the closed position and locking means to lock said clasp in said closed position.
A clasp of the type described above is known from patent CH-A 649,205. In this patent, the clasp comprises two arms attached by one end to the strands of the bracelet so as to be able to pivot. The two arms are connected together by a central element in the form of a stretcher at the ends of which they are attached by the other end, so as to be able to pivot. The central element has two notches of shape and dimensions corresponding to those of the arms so that the arms are fully included in these notches when the bracelet is in the closed position. The clasp is locked in the closed position by a notch system. To ensure this notching, the end of the arm attached to the strand has a beak which hangs on a bridge connecting the longitudinal pieces forming the stretcher.
This notching system has the disadvantage of being subjected to rapid wear, which results in the closure not being assured with certainty after a certain number of openings and closings.
To remedy the drawback mentioned, patent CH-A 460 420 proposes a clasp composed of a U-shaped receiving member on which a cover hinged on said member folds down. The cited invention is characterized by the fact that the receiving member is provided with an anchoring roller freely rotating on an axis housed in the thickness of the branches of the U and by the fact that the cover is provided with a tongue shaped, able to lock on the roller by rolling contact, so as to obtain a practically wear-free safety closure of the locking parts in contact.
The invention which has just been cited leads to a very thick clasp due to the presence of a massive receiving member, member covered by a cover. It will be noted above all that the presence of the roller rotating around a fixed axis is made necessary by the U-shape of the receiving member made in one piece. To mount the roller, it is introduced between the branches of the U, then the axis on which it rolls is driven into the walls of said branches. As the axis must have a certain diameter to be resistant to the force exerted on it, due to the pressure of the tongue, this brings the outside diameter of the roller to a large dimension, hardly compatible with a small clasp thickness and which must remain almost invisible.
Thus to remedy the drawbacks mentioned, the clasp according to the present invention is characterized by the fact that each of the spouts is capable of being hooked on a corresponding cylindrical bar connecting the branches of the central element, each of said bars being maintained axially in blind holes drilled in the thickness of said branches and being capable of pivoting on itself when the beak of one of the arms is hooked on the corresponding bar.
The invention will now be understood with the aid of the following description given by way of example and illustrated by the drawing in which:
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the clasp according to the invention;
- Figure 2 is a section along line II-II of Figure 1, the clasp being in the closed position;
- Figure 3 shows a detail of the fastening mechanism of the clasp presented in Figures 1 and 2;
- Figure 4 is a bottom view, partially cut along the line IV-IV of Figure 1; and
- Figure 5 is a section along the line V-V of Figure 1.
As seen in perspective in FIG. 1, the clasp of the invention comprises a central element 1 in the form of a stretcher having first 2 and second 3 branches arranged parallel to one another and fixed one to the other. the other at each of their ends by first 4 and second 5 fixing means. The figure shows that a free space 6 is provided between the branches 2 and 3. Around the fixing means 4 and 5 are articulated respectively a first 7 and a second 8 arms by one of its ends. At the other end of the arms 7 and 8 are attached respectively the strands 11 and 12 of the bracelet. The attachment can be done for example by means of pins, not shown, and which pass through one of the holes 9 and 10 made at the end of each of the arms.
When the clasp is in the closed position, which appears in Figure 2, the arms 7 and 8 are partially included in the thickness of the central element whose branch 3 is visible in Figure 2. Only emerge from the thickness of the clasp, the fixing means 9 and 10.
We will now describe the locking means for locking the clasp in the closed position and which constitute the essential character of the invention. Each of the arms 7 and 8 has a spout 13 and 14 capable of being hooked on a cylindrical bar 15 and 16 connecting the branches 2 and 3 of the central element. As can be clearly seen in FIG. 4 which shows, on an enlarged scale, the attachment of an arm to the corresponding bar, the bar 16 is held axially in blind holes 17 and 18 drilled in the branches 2 and 3 respectively. blind holes 17 and 18 have a diameter slightly greater than the diameter of the bar 16, so that the bar can pivot on itself. When the arm 8 is lowered in the direction of the arrow 30 in FIG. 1, the tip of the spout 14 comes into contact with a generator of the bar 16 as can be seen in FIG. 3.
By pressing on the spout 14, the nose 21 of the spout is forced to roll the bar 16 in the direction of the arrow 31 until the bar is at the bottom of the housing 19. The clasp is then hung as shown Figures 2 and 4. There was thus obtained a closure which is secure and which is very slightly subject to wear, this being due to the fact of the existence of rolling contact between bar and spout, and this contrary to what is generally known, where this contact is slippery. The presence of simple swivel bars allows above all a hooking which takes up very little space in thickness and fits well in a clasp construction which is as invisible as possible.
Figures 2 and 3 show that the housing 19 has partially the same radius as the radius of the bar 16 on which it is hooked. Figure 2 also shows that the nose 20 of the spout 13 is turned up in the direction of the longitudinal direction of the strand 11, direction symbolized by the arrow 22. The same is true of the nose 21 of the spout 14 turned up in the direction of the direction of the strand 12, direction symbolized by the arrow 23. This way of doing things is favorable since the more traction is exerted on the bracelet, the more the arms of the clasp are hooked relative to the central element.
FIG. 5 indicates a way of making the means for fixing the branches 2 and 3 of the central element with respect to each other. At each end of the branches 2 and 3 there is a notched tube 22 driven into said branches. Around the tube 22 can pivot the arm 8. Nipples 26, each provided with a groove 25, are introduced into the tube 22 and are held in place by means of the notches 24 which penetrate into the grooves 25. This is thus achieved an easily assembled and dismountable assembly.
Finally, it will be noted that the parts making up the clasp (arms 2 and 3, arms 7 and 8) will advantageously be produced from profiles which are cut to the desired width. This way of doing is interesting, especially by the fact that one avoids any welding of tubes which would ultimately alter the molecular structure of these tubes and lead to greater fragility. In this, the clasp of the invention has no weld, which is important for a part of such small dimension. This prevents any weakening of the clasp, which would be detrimental to its service life. The proposed construction also makes it possible to obtain excellent precision, which is essential if one wishes to offer good attachment of the clasp arms.
It will also be noted that the low wear and the small size of the clasp will be particularly appreciated if this clasp is made of gold, a relatively soft and expensive material.
To proceed with the assembly of the clasp, we start by driving into branch 2 the notched tubes 22 (see Figures 1 and 5). The arms 7 and 8 are introduced onto the notched tubes. The bars 15 and 16 are placed in the blind holes 17 of the branch 2 (see FIG. 4). The second branch 3 is chased on the notched tubes 22, taking care to have a mounting spacer between the branches 2 and 3, a spacer whose width is slightly greater than the width of the arms 7 and 8, which defines the free space. 6. During this operation, it is ensured that the bars 15 and 16 freely penetrate into the blind holes 18 of the branch 3. The mounting spacer is removed and the pins 26 are threaded into the notched tubes 22.
To open the clasp, it will be easy to provide the ends of the strands 11 and 12 with a part provided with a tab and disposed near the spouts 13 and 14. Other executions would be possible without it being necessary to describe them.
