Abstract

The clasp for a watch bracelet comprises two parts, a support part (1) and a press part (3). These parts are connected at one of their ends by a pivot (5). The other ends (1a,3a) are fixed on the free ends of two parts to be connected. The support part comprises a flexing spring (9) which assists an extension of the presser part beyond the pivot in stable equilibrium open or closed positions. The presser has a slot (13), adjacent to the pivot, the dimensions of which enable the spring to pass through it when the presser is in the open position so as to no longer assist it.

Description

The present invention relates to a clasp of the type automatic opening / closing, especially for watch bands.

We know many types of clasps that are essentially consisting of two mounted elements pivoting relative to each other at the ends respective of which the two ends are connected free of the strands constituting a watch bracelet. Both elements constituting such a clasp are thus able to occupy two positions, namely a first position, or closed position, in which the two elements are locked to each other by holding means mechanical, and a second position, or position opening, in which these two elements are released, thereby increasing the overall diameter of the watch strap so that the user can easily insert or remove it from his wrist.

An inherent drawback to this type of clasp stems from the fact that the locking devices two elements that constitute it, either require a significant effort to ensure their locking, either present the risk of not keeping the bracelet in completely safe.

To avoid this type of drawback, it has been proposed, in patent application FR-A-2,710,503, a clasp in which the two elements are stressed, in the position of closure, by elastic means which thus ensure permanently a force tending to maintain the clasp in closed position. Such a clasp makes it possible to limit the risks of inadvertent opening of the bracelet.

A disadvantage of this type of clasp is that, in open position, the two elements cannot pivot beyond an angle of 180 °, which sometimes makes it difficult inserting the user's wrist into the bracelet. In addition, any openness exerted on these two elements, which tends to rotate them beyond a aligned position, has the effect of deteriorating irremediable the clasp.

The object of the present invention is to remedy these disadvantages by proposing a clasp of this type which, in open position, allows two pivoting elements which constitute it to pivot beyond an angle of 180 °.

The present invention thus relates to a clasp, in particular for a watch strap, of the type comprising at least two elements, namely, a first element, or element support, and a second element, or pressure element, which are linked at one of their ends by a joint, their other ends being respectively fixed on the free ends of two parts to be joined, the element support comprising a bending spring which requests a extension of the pressing element beyond the joint, in two stable equilibrium positions, at know a first position, or closed position, in which he applies the pressing element to the element support, and a second position, or open position, in which he separates the two elements from each other, characterized in that the pressing element comprises at least a light adjacent to the joint, the dimensions of which are such that it allows the bending spring, when the pressing element is in the open position, to cross this light so as not to solicit any more said pressing element.

The clasp pressing element can have a shape global close to that of the support element, and its width may be such that it can, in the position of closing, recessed at least partially in a housing provided in the support element.

The articulation of the clasp can consist of a transverse axis which is integral with the support element and which is slightly offset towards the outside of it, in the direction of the pressing element when it located in the closed position. The bending spring can be fixed on the support element by any means, and in particular by riveting, by embedding etc ... In the case a spring installation by embedding, the face of the active end of the spring is supported on the joint when the pressing element is in the open position and the outer side of the other end of the spring is supported on the internal face of the support element. In this embodiment, the face internal of the central part of the spring can be supported on an external face of a holding element integral with the support element.

The present invention also relates to a clasp consisting of three elements, namely an element support comprising at each of its ends a articulation on which a pressing element is mounted, the support element comprising at each of its ends a bending spring which requests an extension of the pressing element beyond the joint in two stable equilibrium positions, i.e. a position of closure in which he applies each element presser on the support element and an open position in which he spreads the pressing elements of the element support, each pressing element comprising at least one light adjacent to the joint, the dimensions of which are such that it allows the bending spring, when the pressing element is in the open position, to cross this light so as not to solicit any more the pressing element.

On décrira ci-après, à titre d'exemple non limitatif, plusieurs formes d'exécution de la présente invention, en référence au dessin annexé sur lequel :A non-limiting example will be described below, several embodiments of the present invention, in reference to the attached drawing in which:

Figure 9 is a perspective and sectional view partial enlarged of a first variant of implementation work of a clasp according to the invention.

Figure 10 is a perspective view in section partial enlarged view of a second implementation variant of a clasp according to the invention.

Figure 11 is a schematic side view of a third variant of implementation of a following clasp the invention.

In Figures 1 to 8 the clasp according to the invention basically consists of two elements namely a support element 1 and a pressure element 3 which are articulated by one of their respective ends around a transverse axis 5 which is integral with the element support 1. The clasp is intended to join two bands forming a watch strap which are not shown on the drawing. The end of the support element 1 is hollowed out a window 12, so as to form two extreme wings 7 between which the pressing element 3 takes place, this the latter being mounted articulated on axis 5. A spring of bending plane 9 is fixed by two rivets 11 on the face support element 1 (in the present text by internal face of the elements the face intended to come into contact with the wrist of the user, the external face being the other face of these elements) and, when the two elements 1 and 3 are in the extension of each other, as shown in the Figures 1,2 and 5, this spring 9 bears against the axis 5.

The active end of the pressing element 3 (on will designate by active end of elements 1 and 3 that located near joint 5) is also hollowed out of a window 13, so that it ends itself by two wings 14 whose ends are joined by a transverse axis 19 on which a free sleeve 21 is mounted rotating on it.

Par ailleurs, afin d'améliorer cet encastrement, l'axe de rotation 5 est légèrement décalé vers l'extérieur du bracelet par rapport à la direction générale du profil galbé de l'élément support 1.From window 12 and up to the end la, the support element 1 is hollowed out with an upper groove 2 which is intended to receive the pressing element 3 when it is in the closed position. Otherwise, in order to improve this embedding, the axis of rotation 5 is slightly offset towards the outside of the bracelet compared to to the general direction of the curved profile of the element support 1.

We also note that the shift towards the outside of the hinge pin 5 relative to the profile general curved support element 1 allows, depending on its importance, to adjust the unstable equilibrium position of element 3 with respect to support element 1, i.e. the value of the angle α formed by these two elements in this position of equilibrium.

The ends opposite the active ends of each of the two respective elements 1 and 3, namely the ends 1a and 3a are of conventional type and are intended to receive, in a known manner, the two ends free bands that make up the watch strap.

If, starting from an open position in which the two elements 1 and 3 are substantially in the extension of each other, as shown in the Figures 1, 2 and 5, the pressing element 3 is pivoted in the direction of arrow A, that is, in the figures, counterclockwise, the sleeve 21 comes to bear on the spring 9 and deforms the latter, if although, for a given angle of rotation α, the pressing element 3, under the stress of the spring 9, is in an unstable equilibrium position, as well as shown in Figures 3 and 4. If, as shown in Figure 4, we continue the rotation of the pressing element 3 in the direction of arrow A, the spring 9 then urges this element in order to apply it on the support element 1 and we are therefore, as shown in the figure 6, in the closed position of the clasp. We will notice that, starting from this closing position of the clasp, when, under the effect of a solicitation, one turns the pressing element 3 around the articulation 5, in the direction of arrow B, spring 9 tends to bring the element back presser 3 in its closed position. We will notice that the further we move element 3 away from element 1, the more restoring force exerted by the spring 9 on the axis 21 becomes high.

If, starting from the unstable equilibrium position of element 3, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, it is requested in the direction of arrow B, the spring 9 then tends to rotate element 3 in the opening direction of the clasp. Solicitation of the element presser 3 by the spring 9 stops as soon as, as well as shown in Figure 5, the spring 9 comes into contact with the axis of rotation 5. We are then in the position which in bracelets of this type of state prior art, represents a limit position beyond which, if we continue to exercise on the element presser 3 a request in the direction of arrow B on exerts on the clasp a couple such that one deteriorates this one.

In the device according to the invention, as well as shown in Figures 5 and 7, if, from the position shown in Figure 5, we continue to request the support element 3 in the direction of arrow B, this one swivels without problem around the axis articulation 5 since the spring 9 can, during this pivoting movement, cross the window 13 provided in the pressing element 3. It is thus possible, depending on the invention to continue the rotation of the element presser 3 in the direction of arrow B until it comes into contact with the support element 1, which represents a backward rotation of the next position the prior art of about 120 °. This rotation thus allows the user to set up and take off your bracelet more easily than in devices according to the prior art, the free surface released by the additional rotation of the pressing element 3 thus being larger.

In the embodiment shown in the Figure 9, the spring 9 is secured to the support element 1 removably without the need for fixing by riveting. In this embodiment, in position opening, the active end of the spring 9 is in contact with the hinge pin 5 and its other end is in contact, by its external face, with the internal face of a cavity 10 hollowed out in the support element 1. The internal face of the central part of the spring 9 is in contact with the external face of a holding element 18 which is integral of the support element 1. Preferably, as shown in Figure 9, this central part is hollowed out with a cavity in which a nipple 22 of form takes place additional provided on the holding element 18.

In the embodiment shown in the Figure 10, the active end of the spring 9 'ends with a fork with two tines 25.25 'and the end corresponding to the pressing element 3 is hollowed out by two lights 13,13 'which are intended to let these ends when the pressing element 3 performs its pivoting movement backwards.

In this embodiment, the extension of the pressing element 3 beyond the axis of rotation 5 is consisting of an axial part 27 and two elements transverse 29,29 'on which the spring 9' comes in support to urge the pressing element 3 beyond the unstable equilibrium position shown in Figures 3 and 4 in order to bring it either to the position of closing either towards the open position.

In another embodiment shown schematically in Figure 11, the following clasp the invention consists of three elements, namely a support element 1 ', which is provided with two ends identical active ingredients, i.e. ends comprising an articulation 5 constituted by a transverse axis, of so as to receive pivotally at each of its ends a pressing element 3.3 'of the same type as that described previously. One such implementation is particularly interesting, especially when wishes to use metallic watch straps since it is therefore possible to have a clasp rigorously located in the middle of the bracelet shows.

Bien que l'ont ait appliqué la présente invention à des exemples de mise en oeuvre relatifs à des bracelets-montres, il est bien évident que, sans sortir du cadre de la présente invention, on pourrait utiliser de tels fermoirs dans d'autres types d'application, tels que notamment des ceintures, des sacs à main, des bagages etc...Although the present invention has been applied to examples of implementation relating to watch straps, it is obvious that, without going beyond the ambit of the present invention one could use such clasps in other types of application, such as including belts, handbags, luggage etc ...
