Definitions
- Thermosensitive papers are made of a carrier material, such as a plastic or cellophane film or a paper web, as well as a heat-sensitive, colorless reaction layer. Discoloration occurs when heat is applied to the colorless reaction layer, the initially colorless substances in the heat-sensitive layer converting to colored substances during a melting process.
- the color reaction mechanism is described in the relevant specialist literature; it is based on a base acid reaction. So-called color formers act as bases, which give off electrons to an electron acceptor during the coloring process in the form of an electron donor.
- Electron donors are e.g. B. substances from the group of lactones, phthalides, fluorans, spiropyrans, etc. Acidic compounds, which are predominantly from the group of meltable acidic organic compounds, such as phenols, carboxyls, etc., act as acceptors.
- FR-A-2 427 369 relates to a correction material for writing materials based on a chemical color reaction between a dye precursor and a Lewis acid.
- This correction agent consists of a dispersion of a binder and a reducing agent such as a nitrite, an alkylamine, a sulfite, a thioglycol, a thiourea and the like.
- a correction tape for thermosensitive papers is not described.
- GB-A-2 090 850 is concerned with pressure sensitive papers. In it u. a. Polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol were mentioned as inhibitors for the color formation reaction taking place in pressure-sensitive systems.
- thermosensitive papers can be solved with a correction tape, which is characterized in that there is a meltable correction layer on a band-shaped carrier material which contains a higher molecular weight polyalkylene glycol as an inhibitor for those in the thermosensitive Contains expired color formation reaction.
- the procedure according to the invention is as follows: During the correction process, the correction tape placed in a suitable typewriter is written by means of a thermal writing head, the erroneously generated color marking being erased by making the color marking which was caused by the action of heat colorless again.
- the inhibitor substance contained in the correction tape according to the invention is applied to the symbol to be corrected in liquid form at elevated temperature.
- the inhibitor substance interacts with the colored system, which is in the form of a colored complex.
- This complex consists of the electron donor / electron acceptor system. This system is disrupted by the inhibitor mentioned, or the interaction which causes the formation of color. As a result, this means that the original state, in which there is no coloring interaction, is restored.
- Higher molecular polyalkylene glycols are used as inhibitors in the correction tape according to the invention.
- polyalkylene glycols polyethylene glycols and polypropylene glycols are preferred.
- the polyethylene glycol shows particularly advantageous effects when its molecular weight is between 2,000 and 20,000 and in particular 6,000.
- the preferred position of the polyethylene glycol seems to be due to the fact that it is a waxy compound. It therefore appears to be of particular advantage for the purposes of the invention if the heat-meltable correction layer is always based on wax or if it contains a wax-like substance in addition to the inhibitor.
- a “wax-like substance” is understood to mean a compound of this type which largely corresponds to waxes in terms of its physical and chemical properties.
- any film can be used in the correction tape according to the invention, provided that it ensures sufficient heat transfer and has the necessary cohesion.
- sufficient adhesion must exist between the heat-meltable correction layer and the film.
- the films can in particular be plastic films, such as polyethylene films, polyester films and the like, a cellophane film or else a paper web.
- the heat-fusible correction layer is applied in accordance with the methods which are used in the prior art for coating substrates of transfer carbon inks. In the case of polyethylene glycol, the melt can be applied directly to the support of the correction tape.
- thermosensitive paper corrected by means of the correction tape it is furthermore expedient to carry out the overwriting process by means of a conventional thermal ink ribbon, in particular a thermocarbon ribbon, with a wax-bound melting layer.
- the wax-bound color layer can be colored or black.
- the colorless erase trace and the colored overwrite trace are expediently located next to one another on the same carrier material.
- a 6 ⁇ m thick polyethylene terephthalate film is used as the carrier film.
- Polyethylene glycol with a molecular weight of 6,000 is converted into the melting phase.
- the temperature of the molten phase is 85-90 ° C.
- the liquid material is now applied to the carrier film in a coating weight of 4 g / gm using a conventional metal doctor.
- the heat-fusible correction layer formed in this way is 4 ⁇ m thick.
- the layer solidifies immediately after application to the carrier film. It is transparent or crystal clear. It is then wound into a small spool in tape form, with the width, spool diameter and core diameter being adapted to the respective dimensions of the themed printer.

Description
Darin werden u. a.
