Abstract

1. A method of rescuing persons from locations situated high above the ground, by using a rescue container (11-14) suspended by a load-carrying cable (16) from a helicopter and moved to a position close to the said location, the rescue container comprising a platform (20) via which the persons can climb into the rescue container in order subsequently to be flown away, characterised in that the point of rescue is a mobile unit (1) of a suspended cable railway which has come to a stop while suspended from a supporting cable (3) and which provides access on a side (5) parallel with the direction of travel for passengers to climb in and out or to take or leave their places, and in that the rescue container (11-14) which is carried by the helicopter is suspended from the supporting cable (3) of the suspended cable railway in such a position in front of or behind the mobile unit (1) and is carried by the supporting cable (3) during transfer, accompanied by a simultaneous relieving of the load-carrying cable (16) and in that the platform (20) adjacent the rescue container is disposed on that side (5) of the mobile unit (1) which is parallel with the direction of travel and is disposed at the height of the floor (24) of the said mobile unit (1).
