Lichtbogenlöscheinrichtung für ein elektrisches Schaltgerät, mit einer Kontaktstelle (12), an der beim Ausschaltvorgang bei deren Öffnen ein Lichtbogen (13) gezogen wird, mit einem zwischen zwei Lichtbogenleitschienen (15, 16) befindlichen Lichtbogenlöschblechpaket (17), in das der Lichtbogen entlang der Leitschienen einlauft und darin gelöscht wird, und mit einer Umhüllung (19) für das Löschblechpaket, die die beiden quer zu den Löschblechen verlaufenden Seiten des Lichtbogenlöschblechpaketes mit Seitenwandungen (19') und die hintere Seite des Lichtbogenlöschblechpaketes mit einer Abschlußwandung (30) abdeckt, dadurch gekennzeichnet daß die Seitenwandungen (19') in einem zur Kontaktstelle (12) hin liegenden Teilbereich (C) das Löschblechpaket (17) überragen und in einem hinteren Bereich (C) zusammen mit der Abschlußwandung annahernd die Höhe (B) des Löschblechpaketes aufweisen.1.
