Definitions
- the present invention relates to a current-limiting switch according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the switch is intended to serve on the one hand as a contactor and on the other hand as short-circuit and overload protection.
- a current-limiting switch for low voltage is already known with a bridge contact arranged between two fixed contacts and connected to a disconnection device, on which two contacts are rotatably mounted, which are opened under the action of the forces generated by the short-circuit currents .
- the known switch works unsatisfactorily in the case of medium-sized interrupter currents in which the short-circuit current forces are just sufficient to lift off the rotatable contacts. A slow and hesitant contact opening is obtained, which results in large contact erosion and can also lead to contact welding.
- the invention has for its object to develop a switch of the type mentioned, which in the entire current range, i.e. works satisfactorily from the lowest operating currents to the highest short-circuit currents occurring in low-voltage networks.
- the movable contact is charged with kinetic energy by its special bi-directional rotary movement before the switching point is opened. It is achieved that there is a high contact speed at the moment of opening even with moderate currents.
- Another advantage of the switch according to the invention is that the contact point of the movable contact in the switching point is shifted outwards by rolling, so that the arc ignites closer to the contact tip and the actual contact surfaces for the operating current are thereby protected.
- the switch designs shown in the figures are intended for nominal operating values up to approx. 1000 A and 1000 V. They can be built on a tripod made of, for example, die-cast light metal, or they can be provided with a load-bearing and enclosing housing made of insulating material which is produced by casting and is an integral part of the switch.
- the switch shown in Figures 1 to 5 has a contact device with two electrically connected switching points per pole.
- Each contact device comprises two spaced apart in a device housing 1 arranged contacts 2, 2 1 and a movable bridge contact device which interacts with these contacts and has two contact units 3, 3 'lying in series.
- Each of these contact units contains a contact finger 4, which is rotatably attached to an arm 6 by means of a bearing axis 5 (FIG. 2) and carries a contact metal plate 4a at one end, which serves as a contact surface for contacting the fixed contact 2.
- the arm 6 is connected to a flexible conductor 7, via which an electrical connection to the contact finger of the other contact unit 3 ′ is established.
- a spring 8 presses the contact finger against a stop 9 present on the arm 6.
- the arm 6 carrying the contact finger is in turn rotatably attached to a contact bridge support 11 by means of a bearing axis 10.
- a spring device 12 applies a torque to the arm, which reverses its direction when the arm passes through a certain position, the so-called intermediate position.
- the spring device guides the arm from its intermediate position into one of its end positions.
- the contact bridge support 11 receives both the two contact units of a pole and the contact units of all poles of a multi-pole, for example a three- or four-pole, device.
- the contact bridge support 11 is actuated in a manner customary for shooters by a magnet 13 with a return spring.
- the fixed contact 2 is provided with a contact metal plate 2a.
- the current path is geometrically guided so that it influences the arc in the desired direction.
- the part 2b of the fixed contact pointing towards the contact bridge support 11 is designed to be extended in order to exert a repulsive force (repulsion force) on the movable contact finger at high currents.
- the fixed contacts 2, 2 ' are each provided with a busbar 14, 14, by means of which the switch is inserted into an outer main circuit.
- a U-shaped soft iron magnet 15 is arranged under the movable contact finger in such a way that part of its cross section lies between the two legs of the soft iron magnet.
- the yoke of the magnet lies between the movable and the fixed contact.
- the magnet is firmly connected to the device housing 1 or to the contact bridge support 11.
- the task of the magnet is to increase the contact pressure with moderate overcurrents.
- the magnet is located near the contact opening point.
- the magnet is dimensioned such that its iron reaches the saturation range at a certain current value, so that it does not unnecessarily complicate opening of the contacts in the event of a short circuit.
- a second, also substantially U-shaped soft iron magnet 16 is arranged such that its yoke lies under that part 2b of the fixed contact which is remote from the contact point 2a, 4a, the legs of the soft iron magnet being on both sides of the movable contact finger.
- This magnet is firmly connected to the device housing and arranged as far from the contact point 2a, 4a as the fixed contact allows. This magnet is used to repel the rear part of the contact finger at high currents.
- the interruption of larger currents is explained with reference to FIGS. 5a to 5d.
- the contact bridge support 11 maintains its switch-on position during the switching process.
- the interacting forces of the magnets 15 and 16 cause a torque on the contact finger 4, the axis of rotation being at the contact opening point.
- the contact finger 4 thus rotates clockwise while maintaining the galvanic contact (FIG. 5b).
- the contact point at the contact opening point shifts outwards as a result of the convex formation of the contact metal plate 4a of the contact finger.
- the arm 6 is rotated counterclockwise by the upward movement of the contact finger and in the process approaches the tipping point for the direction of the prestress acting on it.
- the contact bridge carrier opens as a result of releasing the contactor magnet 13, the contact distance is increased even further until the arm 6 strikes a stop on the device housing. This stop serves to return the arm 6 to its original position after a high-current release.
- the soft iron magnet 15 extends upwards to such an extent that an additional contact-closing holding force is exerted on the contact finger.
- the contact finger is turned clockwise, the contact finger and thus the current path leave the gap between the legs of the soft iron magnet, so that the holding force mentioned decreases.
- the movement sequence for the arm 6 as well as for the contact finger 4 consists practically from the beginning in a counterclockwise rotation, and the switch immediately changes from the position according to FIG. 5a to the position according to FIG. 5d.
- the contact device is designed such that the arm 6 and the spring device 12 of the above-described embodiment are replaced by two parallel, cut out of sheet metal, substantially U-shaped disc spring 20, which are arranged so that the suspension lies in the plane of the sheets.
- One leg end of the springs 20 is rotatably supported in the contact bridge carrier 11 by means of a bearing axis 10, and the other leg end is rotatably connected to a support leg 21 which, under the pressure of the disc springs 20, can be rotated between two end positions in a bearing arranged in the contact bridge carrier 11 .
- the contact finger 4 is fastened to the disc springs 20 with the aid of a helical spring 24, which is arranged in aligned holes 23 in the springs and in the contact finger.
- This spring is arranged so that it exerts a torque on the contact finger, which in normal operation makes contact presses finger against a stop 9 present on the contact bridge support 11.
- This helical spring 24 thus replaces both the bearing 5 and the spring 8 of the contact device according to FIGS. 1 to 5.
- the stops 9 and 17 of the contact finger in the embodiment according to FIGS. 6 to 9 consist of edge surfaces of the contact bridge carrier 11.
- the contact device is surrounded by an arc shield with quenching plates 25.
- the switch is also provided with a momentary release 26 in the form of a soft iron magnet arranged around the fixed contact of the switch, which surrounds the current path and whose armature 27 (FIG. 9) actuates a contact device in the event of a short-circuit current, which switches off the current of the contactor magnet.
- the contact finger 4 of the contact device is mounted in the disc spring 20 by means of a rigid bearing journal 30 made of non-magnetic material, which is surrounded by a spacer sleeve 31 made of plastic.
- the soft iron magnet 15 is placed at the root end of the contact finger, with the yoke on the top of the contact finger.
- the air gap of the soft iron magnet 16 becomes narrower towards the root end of the contact finger 4. This ensures that the repulsive force exerted by the magnet on the contact finger is correct Time occurs in the right place. Electrical insulation is provided at the points designated 32 in FIG. 13 between the magnets 15, 16 and the contacts 2, 4.
- An arcing horn 33 is mounted on the journal 30 and is connected to the one busbar 14 ′ of the contact device via a flexible conductor 34.
- the arcing horn 33 is arranged so that its free end slides along a fixed rail 35 which is connected to one end of the package of quenching plates 25.
- the other end of the quenching sheet stack is connected to the fixed contact 2 via an arcing horn 36.
- the arc quickly climbs up on the arcing horns 33, 36 and is guided into the packet of quenching plates 25. This reduces the erosion of contacts 2, 4.
- a U-shaped plastic piece 37 is attached behind the contact point to prevent the arc from migrating to the rear.
- This plastic piece is preferably made of a material that emits an arc-quenching gas when heated.
- the bearing point 22 for the support leg 21 of the disc springs 20 is arranged on a rail 40 which is fastened to the switch body by means of a screw 41.
- the screw passes through an elongated hole in the rail, which means that the correct contact pressure can be set by means of an adjusting screw 42.
- the contact device according to FIGS. 10 to 14, like the contact device according to FIGS. 6 to 9, can be used in a contactor with two contact points connected in series.
- the disc springs 20 with their Bearings 10 and 22 are mounted on a contact bridge carrier connected to the contactor magnet.
- the switch according to FIGS. 10 to 14 can be modified in such a way that the movable arcing horn 33 is omitted and at the same time the rail is lengthened and is connected to the busbar 14 'via a rigid conductor.
- Such an embodiment is simpler in construction, and at the same time the mass of the moving parts of the contact device is reduced.
- the invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiments shown, but can be varied in many ways within the scope of the disclosed general inventive concept.
- the invention can also be used in a switch construction in which there is a rigid bridge contact which is coupled to the actuating mechanism and which interacts with two contacts which are arranged at a distance from one another and are each permanently connected to a busbar, for example of the type shown in FIG.
Abstract
Current-limiting switch with at least two elongated contacts (2, 4) arranged laterally next to or above one another, of which one contact (4) is rotatably mounted, forms a switching point with the other contact at one end (the contact end) and turns on its other end (the root end) is provided with a flexible current conductor (7). According to the invention, the bearing point (5) of the rotatable contact (4) is located between the two ends of the contact on a movable arm (6) and is arranged such that the rotatable contact in a short-circuit current under the action of electrodynamic forces initially in a first Direction while maintaining the galvanic contact at the switching point (2a, 4a) is rotated, causing such a change in the position of the movable arm (6) that the distance between the bearing point (5) of the contact (4) and the counter contact ( 2) gets bigger. There is also a first stop (17) which limits the rotational movement of the contact (4) in the first direction of rotation and triggers a rotational movement of the contact in the opposite direction of rotation, which results in a sudden contact opening.
Description
The present invention relates to a current-limiting switch according to the preamble of
From DE-PS 2 443 771 a current-limiting switch for low voltage is already known with a bridge contact arranged between two fixed contacts and connected to a disconnection device, on which two contacts are rotatably mounted, which are opened under the action of the forces generated by the short-circuit currents . The known switch works unsatisfactorily in the case of medium-sized interrupter currents in which the short-circuit current forces are just sufficient to lift off the rotatable contacts. A slow and hesitant contact opening is obtained, which results in large contact erosion and can also lead to contact welding.
The invention has for its object to develop a switch of the type mentioned, which in the entire current range, i.e. works satisfactorily from the lowest operating currents to the highest short-circuit currents occurring in low-voltage networks.
To solve this problem, current-limiting switch is proposed according to the preamble of
Advantageous embodiments of the invention are mentioned in the further claims.
In the switch according to the invention, the movable contact is charged with kinetic energy by its special bi-directional rotary movement before the switching point is opened. It is achieved that there is a high contact speed at the moment of opening even with moderate currents.
Another advantage of the switch according to the invention is that the contact point of the movable contact in the switching point is shifted outwards by rolling, so that the arc ignites closer to the contact tip and the actual contact surfaces for the operating current are thereby protected.

The switch designs shown in the figures are intended for nominal operating values up to approx. 1000 A and 1000 V. They can be built on a tripod made of, for example, die-cast light metal, or they can be provided with a load-bearing and enclosing housing made of insulating material which is produced by casting and is an integral part of the switch.
Eine Feder 8 drückt den Kontaktfinger gegen einen am Arm 6 vorhandenen Anschlag 9.The switch shown in Figures 1 to 5 has a contact device with two electrically connected switching points per pole. Each contact device comprises two spaced apart in a
The
The
The fixed
A U-shaped
A second, also substantially U-shaped
- For all currents up to a value that can be regarded as a normal overload value, for example fifteen times the nominal current, the switch works as a contactor, which is shown in FIGS. 1a and 1b. The
arm 6 with thecontact finger 4 is in its lower stable position, and the entire contact bridge carrier moves to contact position towards or away from this. To achieve a resilient contact system, part of the rotational mobility of thearm 6 is used.
The interruption of larger currents is explained with reference to FIGS. 5a to 5d. The
At very high currents, the force of the
In the embodiment according to Figures 6 to 9, the contact device is designed such that the
The contact device is surrounded by an arc shield with quenching
The embodiment shown in Figures 6 to 9 requires fewer parts and is cheaper to manufacture than the embodiment of Figures 1 to 5. It also has the advantage that the mass of the moving parts of the contact device is significantly lower, which enables faster switching operations and the switch is mechanically less stressed.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in FIGS. 10 to 14, the
As can be seen from FIG. 12, the air gap of the
An arcing
The
The contact device according to FIGS. 10 to 14, like the contact device according to FIGS. 6 to 9, can be used in a contactor with two contact points connected in series. The disc springs 20 with their
The switch according to FIGS. 10 to 14 can be modified in such a way that the
The invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiments shown, but can be varied in many ways within the scope of the disclosed general inventive concept. For example, the invention can also be used in a switch construction in which there is a rigid bridge contact which is coupled to the actuating mechanism and which interacts with two contacts which are arranged at a distance from one another and are each permanently connected to a busbar, for example of the type shown in FIG.
